  1. I had surgery on a Wednesday and started walking for 10 minutes 3 times a day on Monday and increased it by 5 minutes each day. Now I walk 3 miles a day and I'm 3 weeks post-op tomorrow.

    Peanut Butter Cup Protein Shake

I found it at Walmart and most grocery stores carry it now also. It's by the Peanut Butter. It's made by Bell Plantation. http://www.bellplantation.com/

Are you happy with your decision?

I converted from the band to the sleeve on May 14th and I couldn't be happier. I'm just now starting on pureed foods and its very interesting to see how different it is to eat with the sleeve vs the band. With the band, I pretty much threw everything back up or slimmed or whatever you want to call it. I call it nasty. With the sleeve, when my little tummy gets full, I get a small little cramp that says "whoa, that's enough", so i stop and I'm full. No more running to the bathroom after two bites and spending my time trying to bring up whatever is stuck and missing meal time with my family. I love my sleeve

Payment on the Day Of Surgery ?

I agree. My husband just shook his head at her in disgust. I told him to just give me my check book so I can pay her and get this over with. I was a bit nervous and she didn't help matters by pissing me off right before surgery. But oh well. It's done and over and everyone is paid...and I'm happy and loving my sleeve

Payment on the Day Of Surgery ?

That's crazy!!! Was that thru insurance? No I was self pay. Yeah, I was a little peeved about it myself. Its not like I wasn't going to pay them. They could have just sent me a bill. But she walked in as I'm being hooked up to the IV and about to be strolled into surgery and said, you owe $1250.00 please, we need payment now. Geez!

Payment on the Day Of Surgery ?

I paid everything at my pre-admit except the anesthesiologist, who came into my room just before surgery and asked for payment.

    Activity Trackers!?

Does the fitbit transfer everything to ur phone an computer wirelessly? Is it comfortable? Yes, it syncs with my iPhone and computer wirelessly. They have different types of fitbits. Some are waterproof, others are not. I have the Fitbit One and its not waterproof, but it does monitor my sleep. I used that feature for a while, but don't use it anymore. Its very comfortable, I just hook it to my bra and forget about it.

    How much time off work?

My doctor wouldn't release me to go back to work for 2 weeks, even though I have a desk job. I think a lot depends on when your doctor will release you. I'd ask him/her what their policy is since every doctor is different.

    Hungry 5 days PostOp Surgery

I was hungry for the first few days, but once I was more diligent in following doctors order and getting my liquids in more frequently (1 ounce every 15 minutes), I began to feel better. A lot of the hunger is head-hunger and not actually physical hunger. It will get better, I promise. Hang in there

Post 1 year. NO more weight loss ?

I've heard of stalls happening. I'm only 2 1/2 weeks out from sleeve surgery, but I was previously banded and I go to support groups. Many of them mention having a stall for 1, 2, 3 or even more months. They said eventually it would break, but recommend switching up your diet and perhaps trying a different exercise routine. Your body gets comfortable with what it knows so you need to change things up every once in a while to keep it guessing and therefore, burning calories. Another thing they say is, that even though they didn't lose weight over some time, they still dropped inches. So maybe your body is just reshaping itself and getting ready for the next drop Oh and 100 lbs in one year is fantastic! Patience my friend, you're doing wonderful.

    Peanut Butter Cup Protein Shake

Add a bit of sugar free butterscotch pudding mix and it tastes like a butterfinger
  17. I'm 2 1/2 weeks out and my doctor told me to start incorporating 1 puree meal a day for lunch for a few days to see how my body handles it, then start increasing it to 2 meals a day, then 3. I couldn't imagine being on full liquids for 4 1/2 weeks!
  18. You didn't say how far out you are from surgery. If you're in the mushies stage, you can definitely add soft fish to your diet, which is an excellent source of Protein, low in calories and low in fat. I have one Protein shake in the morning for 30 grams of protein and I struggle getting that down, but I just take it real slow. Then for lunch I have the Gorton's signature grilled tilapia. It's like 80 calories and 15 grams of protein. Then I have cottage cheese at 12 grams for 1/2 cup and a greek yogurt. Of course, i'm breaking this up throughout the day, not eating it all in one sitting, but I'm able to hit my protein goals by doing this.
  19. Liquid Tylenol - I wasn't really in much pain, so didn't want to take the pain medicine as it made me even more nauseous. So liquid Tylenol worked perfectly for me.

    Role Call

You've lost 89lbs from your highest weight and 54 lbs from your surgery date. I think that's great! Everyone loses at different rates. If you are following your doctors orders, eating the right foods and exercising, you're going to do great! As long as the scale is moving in the right direction, who cares how long it takes? I know we all want "instant thin", but we we're overweight for years, the weight is going to take time to come off. For me, I'm only 2 1/2 weeks post-op. I lost 8 lbs the first week, 5 lbs last week and so far this week, I haven't dropped a single pound, but I'm not going to let it discourage me. Sometimes the body needs to re-set. I know the weight will come off when my body is ready to let go of it. Hang in there, you're doing great!
  21. I'm 2 1/2 weeks out and I'm just now starting to feel normal. My surgery was on 5/14 and I went back to work on 5/27. I felt a little weak and tired at work, but I was also putting in 12-15 hour days from the start, so no time to really rest. I feel so much better today and I'm about to go out and walk my first 2 miles! I understand about mourning the loss of your stomach, I think it is common. I did it also - for about an hour, then I realized "good riddance", I didn't need that big old thing in there anyway. I want a new tiny stomach that will help me control how much I eat. If your depression continues, I would definitely talk to your doctor. You're only 3 days out...it gets a little better each day, just hang in there! But again if you're in severe pain or you honestly feel something is wrong, please call your doctor.

    Multi Vitamin Question

I've use Celebrate Vitamins for the past year and love them. Plus, you earn points every time you order. I have enough points now that my next couple of purchases will be free. Can't beat that !
  24. I didn't really have a preop diet. He told me to stick to a low fat diet. BUT I was also banded and being revised to the sleeve, so my diet was pretty much intact to begin with.
  25. Make sure you pack some sleeve friendly Snacks. I would also request that they order salad and non-alcoholic beverages. Most pizza places do salads. If not, I would eat a healthy snack before you go to the dinner or just eat the toppings off the pizza and toss the crust. Good luck and have fun
