I have an appointment with my surgeon on Tuesday... I have been having horrible pain on my right side complete with symptoms of a gallbladder attack... I also know it is very common after Wls especially if you lost weight rapidly to have your gallbladder removed... Who had gone through this process and how soon after being banded? This may seem petty to some but also did you have to have your band emptied for this and for how long?

I don't think how it's paid for has any relevance. It is about how committed the person is to being successful. I've seen people on both sides of the payment fence fail miserably because they simply didn't do what was necessary to be successful. For the record' date=' my insurance covered the surgery and I've lost 215 pounds in 17 months (and still losing).[/quote']
Completely agree!!!

Still don't really get it but thanks for the repliesTo directly answer your question... Yes junk food is a "slider" food....for me it does not matter if I eat crap or clean food if I don't eat it correctly I get stuck and I like it that way. I don't feel deprived from my old favorite food I just can't eat a lot and still have to eat correctly.

I know I won't be able to lift heavy objects for at least 6-8 weeks or is it forever? I have a children's inflatable business' date=' so on weekends I do have to roll and get 250-300 pound bouncies in a trailer. I know I will be out of commission for a while, but will I never be able to lift heavy stuff again? Thanks everyone. I finally have insurance that will pay for it!![/quote']Lifting was a make it or break it for me...the car in my profile pic weighs 250lbs. And my other sons car weighs closer to 300lbs we have to lift and maneuver 5 of them every weekend...my dr told me 3 weeks and literally at 3 weeks I was lifting them.

I was banded 5/30/13... we have pretty much the same starting and current weight' date=' and also height.
I have to admit, it requires a lot more discipline than I anticipated. I heard countless times "the band is just a tool", but I was hoping to feel less desire to eat than I do. I'm self paid, so I definitely have to make the most of this.
I think you're probably cheating because you're discouraged by not seeing the results as fast as you'd like, but try drinking Water when you get hungry, or take a walk. Once in a while you do have to indulge a little, but try only a small bite or two, and then get rid of the rest ( I know easier said than done).
Anyways, I'm rooting for you,
Aimee[/quote']
Thanks Losingaimee... My loss has actually been pretty steady I'm finally under 200lbs for the first time in 10 years.... My husband and I have 5 kids...ages 9,8,5,3,13m....we live in a rural area so I can't really go out walking but I like to do the wii with the kids so right now that's where I'm getting my exercise from...I don't think I was prepared for this surgery but I had to jump on the opportunity before my health insurance changed because it was 100% covered but like I said I was not really committed to the lifestyle change when I went into this so it's a total learning experience still but I want to be a healthy weight so I'm trying my best. How is your journey going?
-
I haven't been banded yet....two more weeks! I do know that you came to the right place!!! I hope your "cheating" isn't often. I am going into this with the thought that if I'm going to go through all of this....I don't want to cheat. I understand that there are ways around the band....but I don't want to know! I wish you all the luck.....and I'd be happy to be a buddy......LisaThanks Msgal... No the cheating is not often and I don't think I'm eating around my band but there are a few things I still can't give up and that's my coffee cream and m&ms lol but I am fortunate to be in the green zone this early on so my portions are small and I make good food choices more often than not... I would love to go vegan but its a lifestyle change that my husband is not on board with and a commitment like that would kind of require him to take on also...good luck with your surgery, the recovery wasn't to bad but the first 3-5 days does suck lol... When do you start your pre op diet?
-
Maddysgram is soooo right... Your first instinct is to wash it down and it only makes it worse... For me the pain of being stuck is so bad I feel like I'm going to pass out and walking during that is not an option for me

Dover , Delaware and I really think I'm the only one from Delaware
-
I was banded late April and doing ok with it but I do cheat. I live in Delaware and I don't know anyone with the band. I could use a band buddy to keep on track with.
-
My Dr was pretty laid back regarding post op diet... I was to slowly add solids back in after 1 week and if tolerated I was able to have a fill at my 2 week post op appt.

The shamrock is on my left calf for heritage and the little hearts did represent my kids at the time but since then we have 2 more so I was thinking of getting a whole new piece and the heart I got on my 21 st birthday and later added my husbands name to it it could use some touching up it has faded a lot.

I see a lot of you doing your first 5k and that is my goal. My question is for those of you that have done this what are the best training tips? I have never ran really at all except chasing my kids... I can walk for long distances at a good pace without getting winded or tired but I really want to prepare for a 5k (running) or more.

For me' date=' the day I stopped using my I-phone app, and stopped counting calories, etc, was liberating! Total Freedom!Along with all the other verbage like starvation mode, metabolism, etc. It made my head hurt!
I began, per my Dr's advice, concentrating on a healthy, active lifestyle, one that involved eating much LESS than I used to, and exercising a lot MORE than I used to.....
I am old school...want to loose weight? Don't eat so much.....that's all every diet under the sun is designed to do.....[/quote']
I agree... I am only 2 months since being banded and I was going crazy updating my app and tracking every little thing and not seeing huge results so I stopped using the app and guess what the lbs are falling off

If anyone reads this from the Dover area' date=' I am being banded on February 11th, 2011 and would love some people to talk to and possibly meet up with in the area or anywhere in Delaware for that matter![/quote']In case you are around or pop in I was just banded in April and I don't really know anyone in the area that has gone through this. I have 5 children and live in the Dover area.

Final weigh in @ 197 didn't make my goal but this is the first time in 10 years to be under 200 lbs so that's a milestone in its self

Hello everyone' date=' I am new on here, got banded last Friday. I started my period today which makes it 2 weeks too early. ð Has anyone else had the issue of it coming early? Now is just not a good time. ð£[/quote']Is it ever good timing lol but haven't experienced it coming early for me

NO PROBLEM!! Vent away..that's why were here SUPPORT!! I personally can't watch shows like that or biggest loser because I believe that ALL of us could be awesome and lose weight with a personal chef and trainer 24/7. That's just not being realistic. REALITY SHOWS are NOT REALITY... I often say If they watched my life as a reality TV show it would never make it past the first show....lolReality shows and I have a love hate relationship lol but these siblings kicked butt and lost so much weight it's nuts but I agree we wouldn't be here if we had the opportunity to have Chris kick our butts

Mine looked just like your rash my dr said it was an allergy to the glue but it actually cleared up pretty quickly after my strips came off ( day 10)

So tonight was the premier for the new season of Extreme Weightloss with Chris Powell after watching this brother & sister duo I have never been more motivated. We went to the beach for the holiday weekend and I ate like crap and even had a few margaritas and came home last night feeling guilty as hell... I am 5 weeks post op and was doing great but like everything else I've tried to loose weight I am slacking off and really need to regain focus its to early in this journey to slack off.... Just venting lol
Why do they say not to drink with your meal and to wait 30 minutes after your meal?
