Hot Sauce/vinegar?
There is no problem with a few noodles. Just realize they are filling and not much protein so pick out the meat first.

Hot Sauce/vinegar?
I used hot sauce in my chicken bouillon during my full liquid phase. No problem.

I Keep Accidentally Over-Eating!
All great advice. You probably never need to attempt to eat more than 1/2 cup at a sitting, even quite a way out. Some people can manage more but not many women, apparently. When in doubt, under-estimate. Remember to measure for volume, not just weight. It takes a lot of popcorn to be 3 ounces, but you still shouldn't have 3 cups or so of popcorn.

Seven Weeks = Too Soon For Stir Fried Broccoli!
Next time you try broccoli, only have the stems. Cube them small and boil /steam /stir fry them until they are really soft. I had trouble with the florets for quite a while.

Compulsive Overeating
Do you think with his current level of compulsion, he would eat around the surgery? I wish he would come to the conclusion to get some external help for this, way before having a surgery that can only ever be one of many tools in the arsenal.

Odd Quoting Problem On Ios App
When I quote a post in the ios app, it doesn't put the attribution of the person I'm quoting and I don't think it is styled as a quote in the web view. You can see it on the last post I made on this thread: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/289791-the-uncomfortable-truth/ Attaching a couple screenshots. The first is how it looks in the app and the second is if I click the post in the app to see the HTML view.

The Uncomfortable Truth....
I'm so sorry Laura. Similar thing with my brother but he overdosed on meth. After years of drugs, prison, and otherwise dangerous choices. I was the pleaser and he was the rebel. The same bad things happened to us. I still feel guilt that I survived and he couldn't. He was only 30. I was 32 when he died. My mom hides behind his death too.

The Uncomfortable Truth....
Laura, your last few days make so much sense now. I'm glad your mother is gone. Family is so tough especially with as much baggage as yours comes with. Pat yourself on the back for getting through it.

Anybody Else Cheating?
I believe word meaning and choice are important, and cheating is the wrong word here. It's only cheating if you do it to try to win. Failing to study for a test is not called cheating. Getting the answers ahead of time is cheating, because you will do better than you deserve because of your behavior or actions. There is no benefit to you for failing to follow your surgeon's plan. It would be cheating if it helped you lose weight faster or otherwise gave you a better outcome. What you are doing won't help you in any way, even if it doesn't hurt you. This is not cheating. It is putting yourself at risk. Playing chicken with your health. Call it risky behavior, not cheating.

Started 'Couch to 5k today' Anyone keen?
I ran in much colder weather than that when I lived in Indiana. Do a warm-up run a couple hours early if possible. You can get a scarf or neck wrap to breathe through to help with the cold air if you have trouble with that, but you probably won't after you are warmed up. Also you will probably be happiest in tights on bottom and layers on top (a synthetic or thin wool or silk shirt like thermal underwear, followed by a sweatshirt which you can remove). When you get moving you won't feel cold anymore. Wear a ski cap on your head. If your ears get cold you can pull it over them. Also moisturizer on your face and Chapstick on your lips, especially if it is windy. Gloves are good. But really, I always found running in the cold quite pleasant after I got started. It was just the getting out the door that was hard.

My Lunch: A Pictorial Attempt To Show You Life Will Be Normal
I have this a lot. At least a few a week. Sometimes sauté mushrooms instead of the bacon. Sometimes I make a piece of toast as well but I only eat about 1/3 of it. Of course, we have three hens so we have a lot of eggs for basically "free" (they don't eat much grain).

Here we go. In the second photo I am holding the fabric behind me. In the last photo you can see how much extra fabric there is. Also my boobs filled that dress last year and this year it is just sad.

Attention ! Australian Sleevers
I will be in India again from tomorrow to 19 Dec, for work. Then I'm back and off work until 6 Jan! Looking forward to the holiday. Husband's work Christmas party is the 20th, on a yacht. I will be so jet lagged. But the reason I was at Target yesterday was I needed to get new togs. I got a pretty cute one-piece that looks like a tankini set but really isn't. Hard to explain. Got some small shorts to go over the bottoms because the tops of my thighs are a disaster (other than that, I have great legs -- probably my favorite feature besides my hair). I know I won't be in these togs long so I didn't worry too much about the style. They look OK. We are going to the Briabane Jazz Club for New Years Eve. I have a black dress that I think will work, that I got when I was at my lowest Optifast weight (about 20 kg higher than now). Clearly it was too tight before but I thought it looked great. but there is a possibility it will just be too big by the time I get back from India, so I may need to go party dress shopping at the very last minute. At least it will probably be cheaper than the dress I wore last year, from Autograph. That dress was a red bombshell type dress and looked great on me last year. I tried it on this year before putting it in the donation pile. I will post a photo because it is hilarious. The photos are on my phone so it will need to be a separate post.

Sunday Assembly
Have you thought of going to a Unitarian church, Susan? They accept all beliefs or non-beliefs and don't have any dogma. People get together and explore spirituality and logic and meditation and whatever interests them. They do a lot of social justice work and tend to be allied with minorities and LGBT, and do a lot for women's rights issues too. Sermons are often about humanist morality, social justice issues, and just being better human beings. I have heard it referred to as "atheists with kids". I went to a UU church when I considered myself an atheist but missed church, for several years. I loved it. I have since converted to Catholicism, but that's a different story. I still keep up with my UU friends.

I bought some size 12 tops! And 14D bras, down from 20DD! It's such a rush but such a weird feeling. And kind of expensive. Even at Target prices.
