  1. Hello my fellow bandsters! I was banded June 2013. I can't believe I am approaching 1 year. How is everyone doing? I'm doing well. I've lost 60lbs so far. I had a few months of plateaus. I have definitely lost more inches than weight. I've gone from a size 22W to a 16W. I work out with a trainer twice a week and on my own 3 days. Total of 5 days a week. I have finally hit the green zone! I recently found out I have hypothyroidism. It may explain why my weight loss has slowed. I start meds today so we will see how that goes. My surgeon thinks it will help tremendously. I am so happy that I chose to have lapband surgery. It is an fantastic tool and has taught me how to eat and actually enjoy food. It's amazing how such small amounts can satisfy me now. I have attached a before and a few in progress photos. I hope everyone is doing great!! post-146026-0-66316100-1397655545_thumb.jpg post-146026-0-66624700-1397656059_thumb.jpg post-146026-0-79741100-1397656035_thumb.jpg post-146026-0-82362200-1397655556_thumb.jpg

  2. Thanks for the info. I went to the dr today and had .4cc removed from my band. I'm a little bummed as I was in the green zone for the first time EVER!! The dr said that a combination of being sick (bronchitis and tons of mucous) and getting stuck on that pill it is best to unfill a bit to let everything heal! Phew. I was so worried the dry heaving would harm the band!! That was my first time to ever have that happen. It was awful. Tonight I split the pill in half and took with milk. So far so good!!

  3. I think I got suck on a small little pill this evening. It burns...sliming and dry heaving galore. Called the dr and left a message. Waiting to hear back now. It's so weird. Nothing is coming out when I dry heave. Just clear slimy saliva. Tried to drink warm tea...came right back up. Any suggestions?

  4. Hello,

I was banded June 2013. I've lost 55lbs so far. :-) I exercise at least 3 days a week. I've been in a plateau for a while now.

I'm always interested in trying new things. Today I went to a nutritional shake shop in my town. I found out they use herbalife for their shakes.

First you take a shot of aloe, then natural zero calorie, zero caffein tea, then the shake. All in all 250 cal,30 grams Protein, Vitamins, minerals and low sugar, low sodium etc.

The shake was delicious!! Tasted like ice cream.

I am wondering if anyone else has tried herbalife shakes only. I'm not interested in the vitamins/supplements etc. Just a shake as a Meal Replacement or to get the weight loss started again.

  5. Oh how I do not like getting stuck!! I usually can just stand up and tap my chest area and it will go down. Otherwise I just spit in the sink and let the slime happen. It has only happened a few times but it hurts and is so uncomfortable. That being said I think of it as a friendly reminder to eat slower and chew more!! The one thing that DOES NOT work for me is drinking anything. It made it worse when I tried it!

  6. I don't take acid medication regularly. Tonight I took gasx and tums. Every time this has happened in the past I took gasx. It doesn't really help. I was just wondering if others experienced this. Maybe it's from the veggies I ate?

  7. Hello, I had lapband June 2013. A few times since I have had severe gas pain. I thought it was that maybe I can't tolerate Beans anymore. But this time no beans...horrible stomach pain, tons of gas (flatulence) I even threw up tonight. Just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this.

  10. I had my surgery June 11,2013. I've done really well. I've lost 40lbs. It came off so fast in the beginning and now it just seemed to stop. I can't break the plateau. I began working out 5 days a week. 2 days with a personal trainer. 3 days cardio. Maybe my body is in shock and is storing the fat?? I think it's pretty normal to slow down. Any advice on how to kick start things again? I can see my body changing but it just scares me. Is this all I will lose??

  11. How's everybody doing?? I'm still trotting along:) had surgery June 13th and as of today am down 36.2 pounds. Not been easy. I have had 2 fills so far. I have a total of 2.8cc's in my band and feel like I'm getting no help from it yet. Just really been sticking to my calorie limit and getting my Protein in. Still overall pleased with my progress! Hope all of you are doing well! Would love to hear some updates!

That's great!!! I'm good too. I was banded June 11, 2013. I've lost almost 40lbs. I've had 3 fills and have 5.75cc's in my band. In the beginning I was really trying hard...basically dieting. My dr told me to stop trying so hard. He wanted me to eat until I was full. . This way he could see if the band was working. So I did. I was still only able to eat about 1 cup of food at a time. Right before my last fill I could eat more. Hence the fill! Haha! Now I'm back to about 1 cup of solids. I've had a few bumps in the road. Mostly due to being paranoid and not knowing things are normal. But I've consistently lost weight!! I'm so happy I did this. It has been a great journey so far!!

I hope everyone else is doing fantastic!!

  12. Yikes!! I agree. Phentermine is like speed. I tried it years before my lap band. It made my blood pressure sky rocket. I felt like I was going a million miles an hour. The whole point of the band is to aid you in weight loss. Hopefully you will find your green zone and won't need pharmaceuticals to help.

  13. I ate liquids for one day, mushies for 1 day and on day 3 is when the shoulder pain began. FYI. It's on the left side. Takes my breath away!

I ate solids for dinner on day 3 and could only eat about 3/4 cup. But almost got stuck. Then I went back to soft food/liquids. I had horrible gas pain after the last fill. Dr thought my appendix had burst or gallstones. I had a ct and all came back normal. I ate mostly mushy food for dinner tonight with very small pieces of chicken and feel pretty good. Maybe I'm just sensitive because I have more restriction?

  14. Hello fellow bandsters,

    I am a little more than 3 month post-op. I've been doing great. I've almost lost 40lbs. :-)

I had a fill on Monday of 1cc. I am now at 5.75 cc's. I was doing great until yesterday. All of a sudden I got a horrible pain in and around my shoulder blade. I took gas-x and had my morning Protein shake. I was a bit nauseous all day. Then at dinner I almost threw up. Couldn't eat much at all. I was in pain (shoulder/back) all night. I called the dr this morning asking about the shoulder/back pain. They said they didn't think it was the band or fill but said to try warm liquids today. I felt the "I'm going to throw up feeling" several times throughout the day. Lots of saliva!! Nothing came up. I can keep liquids down but am wondering am I too full? Or maybe I just need to wait it out since I can drink and eat tiny amounts. Anyone experience shoulder/back pain after a fill? Is there an adjustment period?
