Honestly I have the mentality of if the band is omptimal DO NOT MESS WITH IT . About the worst thing that can happen is youll have to do Protein shakes or yogurt for Breakfast until your level is good and you can advance. Take things slow. I honestly doubt it will affect your band for very long. Good luck to you....All things that we face as lap band patients...Most of all dont forget to enjoy your trip! Brittany

I know for me 5 days post op I could eat like 3 bites of mashed potatoes or like a couple bites of soup and feel like i was so full I would explode. Stick to soft stuff and liquids for a while. Let your tummy heal.

Day 1 of my pre-op diet, and SO many questions
bahuber5477 replied to CherieRyde's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just do it. Thats my best advice. It was one of the most awful weeks of my life lol. I know thats a little dramatic but I was working almost every single day and I Was cranky and tired and I had terrible headaches. Just do it. Its all worth it and youll forget about it soon enough. -
Not drinking enough opifast preop?
bahuber5477 replied to nerms's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly dont worry about it. Its short term. That pre op diet nearly kills everyone....I drank like maybe two shakes a day and that protein bar that came with optifast. I hated that soup and I hated the vanilla shakes and it turned out ok...I lost 16 lbs in 10 days. Consider it a boost in your weight loss success. Youll get through it. We all do! good luck on your upcoming surgery. -

Appointment with surgeon 4/24 ????
bahuber5477 replied to dreamangels628's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Congrats. Its a life changing experience and one heck of a ride physically and emotionally. I had my surgery on 4/25 and to date I have lost 103 lbs. Before getting surgery realize you have to embrace your old eating habits because the band would stop that. In fact eating junk food is the easiest thing to do so know its a change but one I will never regret. 70 lbs to go and Ill get there some day. I never thought I would say that Good luck to you and if you have questions feel free to ask. Its a 100% lifestyle change. I work out most days, I count calories, I follow up with my nurse/surgeon, and I do my best to stay accountable. There are set backs in the journey. Be ready for bumps in the road. -

bahuber5477 replied to Weightogo123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you been on antibiotics? Could be thrush. Common with oral antibiotics sometimes -
Sweats, sweatshirt, comfortable shoes. Bare minimum and it's all about comfort

Shakeology? Has Anyone tried these protein drinks?

It sort of sounds like your still stuck. Sometimes I think part of the piece that stuck goes down while theres still partially some there....The last time i had a bad stuck I drank a pop and it went down. I dont drink pop ever but I was desperate and someone told me once that it helped expand due to the fizz. I figured anything was worth a shot. Good luck to you, Brittany If you have additional questions I would call your surgeons office....

Ready for Christmas be over this Christmas eating is killing me!! Ready to kick some butt in the new year

my fills are done without fleuro and run about 115 dollars after insurance. I find this to be an ok rate especially now that my band is almost at the right fill level. My bariatric nurse does my fills and although i love my surgeon dearly i think she is awesome and truly is my preference for fills. Everyones different

Reglan/Metoclopramide 10mg- Scared
bahuber5477 replied to boymom2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Reglan is a miracle drug if you ask me. It helps with nausea and tummy pains and also has a secondary action of increased gastric motility. After surgery people are generally backed up so this works in a variety of ways. im a nurse.....reglan does wonders for me. As far as gas pains its common after surgery and you will have them for a while....i suggest gas x strips...they worked well for me -
1 Day Shy of 10 Month Bandiversary
bahuber5477 replied to BandedCandace's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Proud of you to!! I agree lap band was the greatest decision I have made to date. I am nearly 8 months out (Christmas exactly) am down 90 lbs. Started at 308 and am now down to 218. im so happy with that. I know I have a ways to go until I get to my goal weight but for once I know im actually going to get there some day. Its been a great deal of work along the way but its a lifestyle change and im never packing those lbs back on. I love all the energy I have and I am determined to kick butt at this journey. Again, Congrats on all your success!! Brittany. -
How can you be complaining about that kind of weight loss in such a short time...You didnt gain all your weight over night and you wont lose it overnight either. Relax and heal from surgery and forget about weight loss for a little bit.

I just had my gall bladder out 8 months post op. I was full after two bites. My band was tight for a day or so. Take it show it will be ok

Frustrated
bahuber5477 replied to Luv2sing920@aol.com's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
get an unfill...Its one thing if you occasionally have issues but if you cant eat these things on a daily basis then you need to do somethingabout it. I personally would rather practice a little more self control, count my calories, and exercise and have more freedom with how much and what I can eat then be to tight to eat anything. Just my two cents. I probably could use a fill honestly but I am doing ok. I am down 85 lbs in seven months. -
My advice is to just do it...Its the worst thing ive ever experienced in a very long time but its just one of those things....Its only a two week deal...get over it and just do it...

Sorry to say but I really really want the old site back....

Items recommended for home after surgery???
bahuber5477 replied to reed3580's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I highly recommend gas x strips. Other than that maybe an abdominal binder. I didnt have one of those and I Think it would of helped. just take advancing your diet very slow....clear liquids right after surgery is advisable. I was on full liquids right away according to my doc but my tummy wasnt ready for that. Don't worry about not being hungry for a while...Hunger will come. Rest and let your body heal. Dont worry about the stupid scale for a little while. -
I do shakeology and i actually swear by the stuff...It is expensive to....i drink it every morning for breakfast and i really do think it helps!
