  1. get up.....if you cant walk *like me 16 months ago*, march in place for 5 min..

do anything....anything is better than nothing.

I read this earlier today, and it has been in my head all day long. I wanted to feel sorry for myself because my surgery sites are still healing, I am still on mushies, and I go back to work tomorrow. I started down that path, and your words came into my head. So - I got up and did something, not going to the gym or walking, but just moving, doing some housework (actually broke a sweat). It felt great and sent the self-pity packing! Thanks for the kick in the pants - I needed that!!!!!

  2. I'm still an extreme noob to all this...not having my first consultation until the beginning of November, so if you don't mind my asking, why is it hard to get your fluids in immediately after surgery? Does your stomach hurt? Is your throat sore? Are you just not hungry?

For me, I did have a sore throat after surgery, but also everything was swollen, so I had to take the tiniest sips of Water and wait a minute in between each sip. That was the only way I could get fluids the first day.

  3. Best wishes and prayers are with you tomorrow. I am 10 days out, and yes I will say it hurt some, but not nearly as much as I expected. I pretty much slept for the first 2 days, but I did not have to use the pain meds very often. Just be very good to yourself and don't expect too much too soon. Everyone is different. Hope you have the best possible experience.

  4. Having supportive people around you makes so much of a difference. I haven't had my surgery yet, but my family, friends, and co-workers are so supportive already. Of course, these are the same people who have had to see me face more and more limitations on my life due to my weight. They want me to be happy and productive, and they are so encouraging and helpful.

Congratulations on your surgery, and I hope you continue to be blessed!

  5. I have been trying different ready-made Protein Shakes to see if I like them enough to buy them in bulk ( I have to do the 4 shakes a day for 4 weeks diet). I have never had a Protein Shake before, so I didn't want to get stuck with something awful. Also, I wanted to see how long before I get hungry on each one. I have noticed that the ones with higher Protein seem to keep me full longer. I am not trying to mimic the pre-op diet, just replacing an occasional meal or snack. This is all "research" for me, to help me have a smoother transition when I actually do start the pre-op diet.
