Today is day 8 of my two week liquid diet and so far it has been the worst. I'm not really hungry per se, just seriously over the shakes that I mostly just feel nauseous and icky. But at the same time, I've had several thoughts go through my head that I really just want to drive through Taco Bell and order one of everything! Obviously, I'm not gonna do this, but I'm just so stressed. I am stressed because my surgery is scheduled for oct 29th and I don't have insurance approval yet. My surgeon was so sure that this last appeal was going to be quickly approved (because there is NOTHING else they could possibly deny) that we went ahead and scheduled it. Well, here I am, drinking liquids, doing pre op blood work, taking leave from work, and 1 week out from surgery. Can anyone relate? Did anyone else have something this close? Could they still do the surgery and have insurance approve it later?

Definitely no cash. It just seems like they think I'm gonna get approved or wouldn't they want the spot for someone else?

Surgery is scheduled for oct 29th and still no insurance approval! Pre-op blood work scheduled on Monday and I don't know what to do!!!

The last time I called my insurance company they told me not to call back til the 22nd. I have also checked with the surgeons office and they haven't heard. I don't want to pay for blood work twice. Also, I have already scheduled the time off from work. Can't afford to take extra time off and I can't just get put back on the schedule as they have already found coverage for me:(

Liquid diet starts on Tuesday! Tonight I purchased a nutri bullet, BSN Syntha 6 protein powder and PB2. I already have some premade premier protein shakes! I'm ready!

Day one went fairly well. Loved my nutri bullet, syntha 6 protein powder and premier protein shakes! I put it all into my fitness pal and it came back as 1200 calories. Does this seem right?

4 protein shakes. 2 pieces of fruit. 16 oz of Gatorade.

You can order them online! I have a friend with a SAMs membership so we are gonna go get some today, but I did see that you can order them online as well. I am gonna compare prices. You can do it at the premier protein website

Apparently my insurance company denied it, saying that the surgery wasn't covered. My the surgery center says it is and that they have a reference number or something from when they talked to them the first time! They said not to freak out and they have already filed an appeal. I guess it has something to do with codes and it being weight loss vs medical necessity? Idk, but very frustrating!! Especially since I've already been jumping through their hoops for 6 months now!

Just wanted to give you guys an update. It was actually covered so they closed the appeal and opened a new case. They denied the new case because my 6 month pre op diet was 159 days instead of 180 days. Seriously!? So, today I'm going back for what really will be my last msd check in! Then hopefully it won't take much longer to get approved as it is an ongoing case! Hopefully...

Feel like I've seen people talk about a bariatric food website on here. Maybe something with the word foodie? I don't know. I have been looking online and searching these boards but can't seem to find it.

Thanks guys! And yes, I am so glad that my surgeons office seems so on top of things. My last appt was on the 9/12 and the appeal letter was dated 9/16. So that part makes me feel better. Unfortunately I feel like this is my last option, and this is what was gonna make it finally happen for me. So I am feeling fat, depressed and defeated

Regence blue cross blue shield

I have regence blue cross blue shield and that is what I'm going through right now. 6 months ago they said it was covered if I did x, y and z and so I did and now they are saying it isn't even covered. I'm so confused!

I am hoping for an October surgery. I was reading some post surgery paperwork from my surgeon just now and it says tips for life with a bad to cut food into the size of a pencil eraser and chew 10-20 times! Is this true? I understand small bites and chewing a lot, but that seems VERY small. Like non existent!

Had my last visit today! It's been a long 6 months and I know the next 2-4 weeks are gonna drag on waiting for insurance approval:( here's to a quick and good response!

How did you guys handle if you were on antidepressants? Did you check to see if there were liquids available? Wean off before surgery?

Went for my 5th msd today and the person I had been meeting with no longer works there:( so the nurse met with me. I just hope this doesn't cause any delays or set backs! I don't have much patience left:(
