  1. Hey I am from Indiana as well. I just got approved and waiting on a date. How are your nerves at this point of the game?
  2. Man some of you go quick. I got my approval on Friday, thought I would get a date today......now they only do pre-op classes once a month.....but have to have a surgery date for that. Can't get a surgery date until all pre-op test come back normal.......I wasn't told about those until I had the approval. This wait is almost more painful then the silly 6 month PCP visits UGH!!! I am suppose to host Thanksgiving to a family who has no idea I am having surgery.....any guesses to how this will play out
  3. Bandista......lets keep in touch it will be nice to track our progress together. I can't wait to get the official date....hopefully on Monday. I forgot about the "23 hour rule" however, insurance paperwork specifically said observing overnight would not be paid for...... I guess they have caught on I would like to come home because I would know the surgery went well......I will just make sure they keep me long enough to make sure all is well Good luck to you!!!
  4. Well, 6 months of PCP visits and everything was turned into insurance and 10 days later I GOT APPROVED!!!!! Yipee!!! I am thrilled and a little terrified all in the same breath. Insurance approval said Nov 1st, that was my projection date so I am hoping it will happen by then. Of course by the time my mail came with the approval the surgeons office was closed so now I have to wait one more painful weekend to get my date. So glad all my hard work for the last 6 months has paid off. ( I am down 20 lbs) Insurance did deny the surgeons request for an overnight stay.....I am not sure how I feel about that.....I am over an hour away from the hospital. Here I gooooooo!!!!!
  5. I know. It is so amazing to hear all the positive stories on here. It is so scary and the support is needed.
  6. Thanks everyone......I was stressing that the band could cause a hernia....I was curious. It is encouraging to hear.
  7. Hello all!!! I am not banded yet....getting close.....waiting on insurance. I did want to ask all you banders about hernias. I hear a lot of people talk about hernias on here. Is that something that can be caused by the band or just a coincidence?
  8. The Icy One, I finished my last pcp visit last week and everything was submitted to ins last Wed. My surgeons office told me we should hear something within two weeks, so hopefully it will be that quick for you as well. It seems we will be getting banded close together. Hope all goes well. I am super excited one day then super anxious the next. Just ready to be done. This past week has been harder then waiting the stupid required 6 months!!
  9. Nana....why did you have to be rebanded? Complications?
  10. Glad to hear you are doing well. That is rough to not have any help at home afterwards Glad things are looking up and you are recovering well. I hope to be shortly behind you. My paperwork was submitted to insurance this past Wed. They said we should hear something in two weeks. Did you ever get super nervous before.....like if this was the right decision or not? I have faced that here and there and going through it again BLAH!!!
  11. Wow, I didn't realize there would be stitches to take out. Glad you are feeling better. Do you feel the surgery was pretty easy?
  12. Hi ameyer30......so how are you doing?
  13. Jesscara1987 Thanks a bunch. I am thrilled and so ready for this to be all done with. Can't wait to get insurance approval
  14. Thanks so much!!! I am a planner so this part is hard, but I want to have it done before the holidays as well. Tomorrow is the day!!!
  15. Hi All, Well Tuesday is my final PCP visit and then all paperwork is faxed over to my insurance. I have called my bariatric center and all that is required of me before surgery is a pre-op class. I have Anthem. They have been pretty great. I have a child who requires lots of therapy and they have approved these therapies with no problems (other ins companies have refused to pay for these type of services) So I have a couple of questions: Can you typically schedule a surgery date once I have been given ins approval? Since I have to do a pre-op class? Would it be a wise idea to ask my pcp to write a letter or recommendation to go with the pcp notes from the last six months for the ins? How far out do surgeons typically schedule their surgeries? I guess I am getting a little anxious and also trying to get a timeline in my head......I am hoping to be banded by Nov 1.......is that unrealistic? Thanks for all the help in advance
  16. Anyone have any suggestions for a good Protein mix without sugar? momof2sn
  17. Great news....psychologist personally called me today to let me know the surgical group was wrong and he had given me psychological clearance in May when I saw him. YIPEEEE
  18. Well after a phone call this morning to my bariatric center I was told there were no suggestions for treatment on my psych eval. No I am trying to get in touch with my surgeons office to confirm they have the correct report. Nothing like sitting on pins and needles. I just hope it gets cleared up. I will not be happy if this sets back my timeline. Crossing my fingers Momof2sn
  19. Thanks Ladies, I remember filling out a questionnaire. I guess what is terrible is that I was not told anything and not given anything stating what he wanted me to do and here I have wasted precious time. I am trying to be thankful that I have two months before my pcp visits are over.......still frustrating to know at this point in the game momof2sn
  20. Hello All, I had my psych eval at the end of May this year. My ins co.only requirement is 6 months pcp visits. I completed number 4 of my pcp visits this week, so I contacted my surgeons office about what the next stages would be. In making that phone call, I was told that I had not completed the psychologist recommendation of individual counseling????? WHAT??? That was the first I heard of it. I asked if she was confused with someone else and then she just asked if I wanted the report faxed or mailed to me. I am ticked. Ummm, the only thing the psychologist told me to do was attend a support group. Has this happened to anyone else? Can I protest this? Wouldn't the doctor mentioned something to me? He actually told me I would be a great candidate for surgery. Anyone else had to do this and how long did it take. I was on a count down to getting my surgery scheduled.....now I don't how long this is going to set me back? Thanks, momof2sn
  21. GuyMontag do you get fills in Indiana? momof2sn
  22. Thanks forensic6.......I actually will be out of town that day. Is it usually on a Thursday eve? momof2sn
  23. Wow congrats!!! Did they originally tell you that you would need to see your physician for 6 months? Curious because that is what mine has said and I have BCBS.....if so I would like my surgeon to request approval now!!! momf2sn
  24. Hello everyone, I have been creeping on this site for over a month now and have gained a lot of knowledge. I have met my surgeon, I have my psych eval this week. I have also seen my PCP once for my 6 month requirement for my band placement, so I am looking at a fall banding. I am excited yet very nervous about this new adventure. Many of you have already answered a lot of my questions as well as mentored me so far and I greatly appreciate that!!! I am looking forward to this new chapter in my life. I have to admit, I feel like there is no such tool that could possibly help me loose 100 lbs. I have seen so many of you on here that have, however I just can never imagine my body 100 lbs lighter. I have made some life style changes already and it has resulted in 7 lbs gone in the last month. Water is my drink of choice, I make a conscious effort daily to eat more fruits and veggies. I have a regular exercise routine as well. I know these are things I will need to do even with the band, so I may as well start dealing with it now!!! Glad to be here, momof2sn
  25. Pretty Thick 1......I know you said BCBS automatically approves if you BMI is over 40. Does that mean you do not need to wait the 6 month for the dr visits? Thanks, momof2sn
