Hi All,

Well Tuesday is my final PCP visit and then all paperwork is faxed over to my insurance. I have called my bariatric center and all that is required of me before surgery is a pre-op class. I have Anthem. They have been pretty great. I have a child who requires lots of therapy and they have approved these therapies with no problems (other ins companies have refused to pay for these type of services)

So I have a couple of questions:

Can you typically schedule a surgery date once I have been given ins approval? Since I have to do a pre-op class?

Would it be a wise idea to ask my pcp to write a letter or recommendation to go with the pcp notes from the last six months for the ins?

How far out do surgeons typically schedule their surgeries?

I guess I am getting a little anxious and also trying to get a timeline in my head......I am hoping to be banded by Nov 1.......is that unrealistic?

Thanks for all the help in advance

I don't think you are unrealistic about Nov. 1. My last 6 month appt was Sept. 10. I had my lap band instruction class on Sept. 16. ( I was able to schedule this once I was complete with my last 6 month visit). The Dr.'s office called on Sept 19 and told me I was approved and gave me a surgery date of Oct. 10. Good luck. I hope it goes quick for you.

My paper work was submitted August 13 and my surgeons office called me August 20th to book me for surgery. I could have been banded Oct. 4th but I choose to wait until the 11th so i had time to let them know at work and get plans situated. Couple more weeks and I'm going under! I was just as anxious as you are and was on here everyday looking to see how everyone else is doing.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
