  1. The lady on the phone says he would lean toward the realize band because of the long term success/less complications. It kinda threw me off that she even asked that...I mean, how am I supposed to know which band to get??
  2. My surgery is scheduled for May 28. They asked me today which band do I want... I asked the differences and the Allergan they said might have more port turns or seems like more band slips and is filled already but they notice ppl losing weight quicker with this one??... and the realize is more forgiving and not as many slips/port turnings... I'm confused... any advise?
  3. Yes I am. Dr R. They called my cell at work and I saw it was them so I went ahead an answered it. I'd been hoping for may 21 all along so I said let's schedule it and she said may 21 was full so I got the next week (28th) bI had to hang up before I got busted on my phone lol. She just said call back for my pre op. they were already gone so ill catch them Monday. ???ƒ
  4. I got my approval today! I'm scheduled for May 28th.

  6. How are u doing? I'm just NW of Tuscola. When was your surgery and how are u doing?
  7. Ok where are you all at on your journey? I'm waiting for Auth from insurance. Should be any day now.
  8. I can wait to hear how your surgery went!! Hope all is well with u, u been on my mind ???
  9. I take it you don't have any co-problems like diabetes, thyroid... My understanding is... Depending on your insurance... But I'm right on the line too. My BMI was 40.8 and my dr told me he wanted me to show that I could lose some weight so he said lose 5% which would have been 14 lbs and check back in 6 months.... (Meanwhile I had already lost 74 lbs 2 yrs ago but have put back on 35 lbs-he knows I can do it) so those 14 lbs would have put me under the 40. But he still wrote in his notes that I would be a good candidate. So honestly I don't know if my insurance would still cover me or not. So what I did was go to the Illinois Bariatric Center... I'm not screwing around with my dr. I had my consultation, physical and already saw the dietician. When I weighed in there I weighed a few lbs heavier...a little extra Water weight from fixin to come on my period and left on my gym shoes. I came on at 43%. The sent it off to my insurance and I'm waiting to hear back. Fingers are crossed. All goes as planned I'm tentative for May!
  10. I'm between chambana and Decatur :-)
  11. Ok forgive my ignorance. I haven't had mine yet just waiting for insurance approval them I'm good to go. I'm reading all these threads just trying to educate myself more. So why did they have to remove it? Couldn't they just readjust it? I am sorry though and wish u the best :-)
  12. PB as in peanut butter?
  13. Thank you, my new friends :-)
  14. Hi everyone! Last week was my 1st appt (consult) with surgeon. TodAy I had my physical and met with dietician. They told me last week to quit smoking - I got the e-cig that day and have not smoked since or had the desire for the reAl thing! ?????? I had called my insurance last week and lap band surgery is approved with a BMI of 40+ WITHOUT any high b/p, diabetes, thyroid, etc or a BMI of 35+ WITH any of these mentioned diseases. I have none. My b/p is good, no thyroid, no diabetes, nothing at all which is a good thing. I do, however, have anxiety- usually if I'm exercising or get out of breath can convince myself it's a heart attack. Therefor, I don't get a lot Of serious exersise....i just get a LOT of walking in. 2 years ago I lost 74 pounds and the anxiety wasn't as much of an issue. Anyways...My BMI came in @ 43. They will submit it this week for pre authorization. I'm hoping for May 21 if everything comes back approved. I do have joint pain and "crunchy" sounding knees and family history of diabetes, strokes and heart disease. I'm hoping for approval and super excited I found this app!!! What a wonderful way to get and give support. Hugs to everyone!
