Do you not have a pre-op diet? I had one and lost 16lbs. 3 Protein Shakes (must have at least 25grams of protein) and 225 calories of low gycemic veggies (ie, greens, no potatoes, corn, carrots) per day. Good luck!

I am sorry to hear that your husband is not supportive but thankful you have such a close friend! You are making a wonderful decision that will guide you to being healthier and happier! i am worried about your cough though. I am 6 days post op and could not imagine coughing right now. Please make sure you tell them you are coughing so an informed decision can be made.
Chin up! You have come this far already!!
All the best and keep us posted!
Will be thinking of you!

oh, Thansk Jean!! I did not know that. That could make the trip much more enjoyable!!

Ya hoo! Down 25lbs total. 7lbs before pre-op, 16lbs during pre-op and 2lbs since surgery on Friday. I feel great! People are already noticing my face slimming down. This really drives me to keep going!
In other news...have a business trip coming up this Sunday. I will be in the puree stage of eating so I stocked up on organic pureed baby food for the trip. This will make it interesting!!
Happy Wednesday Everyone!!

Yep, GWL denied the claim. I will put an appeal for good measure and then consider the matter closed. Thanks everyone for your responses!

No worries, I was the same as you!! Decided I was going to have a food funeral.....say goodbye to all the wonderful foods (that made me FAT) that I would never eat again. I may have even shed a few tears! It turned out I was too nervous to have the funeral. Now...I have no interest in any of it and I only had surgery on Friday.
You CAN do this. You are already on the right path. It won't be easy, the first few days of the pre-op diet your tummy will growl like a bear waking up from hibernation. Stay strong and remember why you are on this journey. When you feel you are having a weak moment, turn to the lovely folks on this forum. They are wonderful, supportive, informative, and will help you stay on task.
How exciting this all is!!

Aw thanks everyone! I actually ended up going to a rock concert with my Husband on Sunday night about an hour away from where we live. I had no issues standing for 4 hours in a crowd! My husband was very protective and we were smart about it (stayed away from the rowdies). I was a cheap date, one bottle of Water lasted me the entire night. I was not any more sore afterwards nor the next day. I was off yesterday so we did some running around and I had a nap after such a late night. I am up and in at work today...still feeling awesome and following all instructions!! I do notice I feel tighter in the mornings (chest area) so I only sip water for a few hours before I have a Protein Shake or a fat free yogurt drink. I really appreciate everyone's kind words and being able to ask anything on this forum. I do not take my quick recovery for granted and feel for those that are healing a little slower. My advise is following direction. If you are unsure, be conservative! Happy Tuesday!!

All is going really well! Better than I could have hoped for! I had a hair appt yesterday that took hours and I had no issues. I am following my instructions and the gas dissipated yesterday. I am taking it easy but off of the painkillers, driving, and feelng good! Out grocery shopping today (of course no lifting!) So excited for the future!! Thanks everyone for your well wishes!

Ha Ha, I used the Hernia excuse as well! In my case, I don't want a lot of people to know. If I decide to later, I will say I got a lap band and a hernia repair. I worry, like in your case, of gossip. Decide what sits best with you. I have a desk job so I am only off yesterday for the Surgery and Monday for 1 extra day to re-coup. Good luck!

It went really well! Have been sleeping on and off. I lost over 16 lbs on the pre-op diet. Yay! Pain is tolerable. Just an ache between my shoulder blades and it feels like I have done a million sit ups when I try to get up or down. My husband, Mom and kids have been so helpful and supportive! Looking forward to getting on with my life, being smaller and healthier! Cheers to all of you for the inspiration you have provided.

I know every surgeon has different instructions. Mine is no tanning for 3 months after being banded.

The instructions I received from my surgeon actually addresses this. They say that I should wait 2 weeks before intimacy to let my body heal.
