  1. I was banded in March and went through the same thing. I guess going in I had a preconceived idea that it would be automatic. I thought I'd eat small amounts, the weight would fall off and I'd be skinny in a matter of months. I'm on my fourth fill, I work out 4x week with cardio and conditioning (Pilates). It just will take a while and it's a process that takes about two years to reach your goal weight (what my DR said). Good luck!

  2. I am having major stomach acid problems. No reflux but I am nauseous. Most days after lunch I have diarrhea. I am narrowing that down to starches. Is this a sign of band slippage or just bad digestion? I don't go back to the doctor until Nov 14th and I'm not sure if this warrants a earlier visit.

  3. I took one sip of sprite since my band and first fill and it was a weird feeling...instantly i had to burp but i couldnt right away, but once i started it took a bit to get rid of all the gas.

Support is key, Im sorry Nancy that your sister is negative about WLS. I am very open about my band. I feel guilty that my sister in law works her butt off in the gym to look the way she does, but she is also very supportive about my choices. I think that helps so much. If I want to eat, I can just call family or friends and they talk me down. Also, I made my best friend tell me she would be disappointed in me if I failed, she gets my butt to excersice and has became my therapist of sorts. She is encouraging every day! If i lived close to any of you, I would like to think I would pay it forward and be a presence in your journey!

I feel more embarrased walking around fat than i do talking about my WLS.

  4. I wanted Wellborn, but Insurance wouldnt cover him.

No Sodas! It has been 3 months since my last Dr. Pepper and 2 months since carbonation!! I did try a sip of sprite just to see why everyone said no sodas and I instantly had to burp and couldnt...i couldnt imagine drinking a whole one.

I just drink tea, Water or koolaide. I havent gone sugar free and probably never will give that up. :-(

  5. I know! I have family that had it done and they were like, your gonna loose it so fast in the beginning...

My husband thinks I should be more excited for the lbs i have lost ( I AM!! ) but Im not happy with were I am with myself yet. I know I will get there!

I mainly just eat chicken...I cant do any type of bread. And i dont even try anything that requires a lot of chewing.

Willpower isnt my friend either! It has gotten better and each moment i find it (passing McDonalds) I am so proud of myself! I have failed at every diet and i just tell myself that this is something I refuse to fail at. I just wish I could succeed faster!!!

  6. I go get my second fill next thursday! I have a little restriction with this fill but i can still eat way more than i want to. Somedays are discouraging when i want to see results and dont. Im excersing three nights a week. Wellborns whole team seems really awesome! Good Luck!

  7. I had very little restriction after my band was put in, after i got past the mushies i found that i was hungary just like i was before surgery. My doctor told me not to be surprised if i lost little weight between the actual banding surgery and my first fill. I ate nothing that required a lot of chewing. Now that i have had my first fill 4/29, I have just a little bit more restriction. I am still hungary after about 2 hours after i eat and thats when you have your Protein Shake.< /p>

After your fill, you will feel a difference.

    Good Luck!!

  8. 19 lbs is awesome! I lost 10 lbs from when the band was put on to my first fill and 3 lbs from my fill.

I dont know what i was thinking, I guess that as soon as I walked out of surgery I would be 50lbs smaller! lol I chose the lap ban only because of the gradual weight loss, but i wish it wasnt so gradual.

I feel a little restriction, but I get hungry way to soon but I only got 4cc on my fill and I have no clue what size the ban is. I can eat half of a regular size hamburger patty BUT im having a hard time not drinking when i eat. I always carry my water bottle around and so its just there...

  9. OK...I had my first feel yesterday and i was very nervous..so nervous in fact that i locked my keys in my car because i was so scattered!

Anyway, My doctor couldnt find the port with a small needle. The initial first stick was painless, but him trying to find the port was... They got a larger needle and it was over and painless once again..I am not trying to scare you..But i read this topic before i went and was expecting an in an out procedure with no pain. Just saying this could happen, but the doctor did say once i lost more weight, it would be not trouble finding the port and that wouldnt happen again. Good Luck!

  10. I am 31 and 3 days out of post op. And yes,,,the gas pains are the worst for me also, but other than that...I didnt rely on the morphine pump and i moved around a bit in the hospital. I have one incision that is swollen from where i guess my device is and its just tender.

sleeping is difficult but i am a side and belly sleeper. I had my procedure on a Friday and im back to work on Monday. Good Luck and it will be well worth it!

  11. My liquid diet started March 15, and i decided that if i went on a half way liquid diet before hand, i could help myself out! So on March 4th, I started eating oatmeal for Breakfast, Soup for lunch and a salad for supper..I lost 5 lbs...So i guess i started weining myself off my favorite things on the 4th so that it wasnt so traumatic when i started the strict liquid only diet.

This has been by far the hardest thing i have ever done. Mentally overcoming cravings and hunger pangs is awful! Feeding three growing kids and a hard working husband is also a challenge, I refuse to go into a grocery store!

I have been told that i will fail this liquid diet so i refuse to give in. I refuse to fail!!

On top of that, my stomach is not agreeing to a life of liquid. Anything i eat (drink) instantly starts stomach cramps and diarreah. When I get to the point that the hunger makes me feel nauseous; which leaves me emotional and hungary!

  12. I am five days into my pre op liquid diet. My Dr. gave me a list of stuff to eat.

    sugar free everything!

    but here is my list

Broths, Jello (nothing with fruit), coffee, tea, diet drinks, fruit juice, popsicles, crystal light, koolaide, oatmeal, grits, cream of wheat, any cream Soups, v8, pudding and fruit smoothies.

I am finding that its a lot harder mentally to get around cravings.

I have found if i eat oatmeal for Breakfast i can make it a lot better.

    Good luck!
