Although I have not had the surgery yet, it is a major decision. I think in the long run, you will be happy by making the choice to do it, unless you find other means of weight loss, which a lot of people lose weight on their own, but a lot of those same people gain it back too. My neice lost 95 lbs. on Atkins, and has put most of it back on. She was so tiny when she lost it all, and now, she is upset with herself for gaining it back, but I have to keep reminding her that she just had a baby, you will gain some weight. Well, anyway, good luck with your decision, I am sure you will make the right one with lots of education on this board. Take it easy!

I am pretty sure that the protein drinks are not going to hurt. I am not 100% certain at which stage they are allowed, but I would probably say that if anything, they are not going to harm you. I think you just have to make sure they are not full of sugar, but they are more full of protein (hence protein drink). Some are better than others, you have to read the lable. Hope this helps.

Be sure to let us know ( I am sure you will) about how it went and the whole recovery thing. Thats what has me a little nervous. How well will I be able to get moving around afterwords. And for a kinda stupid question, but persoanl at the same time, how long do you have to wait until you have sex? My hubby was wanting to know. Well, if anyone knows, please let me know. Thanks. Hello RDBiles- Good for you taking that step. Glad to hear everything is moving in your favor. Let me know how your fill goes. I am interested in how people handle the first month of surgery. Before long, you will be at goal. I cannot wait to get everything moving myself. I am really looking forward to onederland.

Yes, I feel the same way as well. Although, still a month and a half from surgery, the only people who know that I have made this decision to be banded is my DH, my mom, my sister, and my mom's friend ( who is also being banded). I really do not want any of my DH's family knowing about it simply because they think that weight loss should be on your own, not with the help of advanced technology. But yet, most of the family is still obese on my side and my DH's side. My aunt had the gastric bypass, and now, to even talk about it with the family, they are like....Oh, are you sure you want to go through what your aunt has gone through<------she has had a hard time with it all and said she would not do it again. Well, I have told them, this is not the same, and if something goes wrong (praying that it wont) mine can be removed. My mom was like...wow, thats better then. The only reason my mom's friend knows is because she told my mom that she was having it done, and my mom (bless her heart, but she likes to talk) told her I was too having it done. Well, anyway, it is a personal choice, especially when you have tried many other things or everything in the book. It is not easy making this decision, but as long as you have a few people who you can lean on before, during, and after, that is all that matters. Like people from this board, if you are not going to tell anyone else, this board is here to help you through it.
