Hi everyone--- Im 27 and was banded on 05/14/07. So I am still a new bandster, but I cannot wait until next year around this time to hopefully be reposting my new weight at goal. I figure a year is not so out of reach to lose at least 100 lbs. We will see. Good luck to you all!!!

Thanks ShayDee, maybe day 5 will be my lucky number too. I can only hope!

Oh my Lord, the headaches. I can't seem to get rid of them. Any advice would be great. Not sure if it is from the surgery or my sinuses. HELP!!! Not too mention I am having a hard time getting comfortable laying, sitting, etc. I feel like I am being a pain the arse right now, but not sure what I should do. I tried the heating pad, my recliner, my bed, couch, when will I start feeling better????

Hi Rubylyn...Just wanted to let you know that my doc said the same thing. Take temp twice a day for 2 weeks along with my Heparin shots three times a day for two weeks. I have been very consistent on the temp thing and the highest it has gotten in 99.5. I was told if it goes over 100.5, then call my doc. He said anything under that is very normal, but if it goes over that then we might have a problem. I would have to say that the one thing I have been dealing with that is bothersome is this dull headache that wont go away. I think its my sinuses. If that the case, I might call my doc and see what I need to do. Hope this helps.

Hi Soulful Grandma--- First of all, congrats on being banded. I hear ya on the weight gain. I have gained 5 lbs since yesterday. Its crazy, but I think because of the fluids they give you and swelling, is what causes you to gain the weight initially. If I am wrong, someone please let me know because I would liek to know as well why I gained 5 lbs. LOL!

Hi again, Melissa O, Rubylyn, Laura P, & Kadrian Matthews, thanks for the comments and congrats on your surgery. I will be happy once this belly pain and gas goes away. Yes, I have also heard that day 2 & 3 is the worst. Let me ask ya'll a question, did ya'll get an elevated temp during the 1st few days or 1st week? Mine is under 100, but it has me a little bothered. My doc said that he wanted me to take my temp twice a day for the first 14 days, so that makes me wonder if it is normal??? Anyway, if you have any info regarding that, please let me know. I am not dealing with the gas in my shoulders, it is mainly in my lower belly and I am passing it pretty regularly. Keiko, just remember, I think that most of us question our decisions to do this in the beginning. You are probably making the right decision. I understand the feelings of going from, YES I am doing this, to oh crap, am I sure this is what I want. But, I think in the end, I made the right decision. I honestly think you are going to do great. Just remember, your family is going to benefit from this by having their mommy back. Good luck to you! Short01, Good luck with your surgery. I also think you are going to do great. Dry mouth was also a problem for me and I think that happens to everyone too. The only reason I mention the dry mouth thing because there was a post about it on here. Don't remember who posted it, but yes, I delt with it. Its crazy! But all in all, I really do wish youa speedy recovery. Take care everyone and keep us updated on your results.

:drama: Hello Everyone! Okay, since I am getting really close to my medical consult (5 days away), I figured I would start my own journal. Honestly, starting to get nervous and the way I look at it is, I should not be nervous, I am strong and I have my guard up. On that note, I have the right to be nervous, but I have a hard time letting my guard down. I am constantly confusing my emotions. I am going to use this thread to post my updates, possibly some photos, and how I feel in general. I have some before photos. I will post them soon, probably right before the surgery. I was supposed to have my medical consult on May 10th, but the kiddos had some stuff at school scheduled which I just found out about, so I had to change my sppointment and now it is April 27th. Usually the doctor that I am seeing will preform the lap-band 2 weeks from the consult which would throw my surgery into the 2nd week of May. So, soon I will be a bandster for life. YEAH!!! My DH has all of the sudden become very supportive. He has always been supportive, but now he is saying he is willing to go with me to the appointments because he wants to know whats going on and not be suprised, which is great! I would like him to go and know everything as well so I don't have to explain anything. Okay, so long for now, will post again soon. Thanks for listening.

Hey everyone--- I just wanted to let everyone know that I was banded yesterday and I am feeling okay. But real quick, I hope that all my May 14th banding buddies did good yesterday: SoulfulGrandma rubylyn amandawv melissa o NurseLaureli legster Dutchgrl59 phuber40 And if your name is not on the list and you were banded yesterday, congrats!!! Also, to all the one's who were banded before us and going to be banded today (JENNYC724 & Losin'it) and later on, Good Luck to you. :youcandothis: Okay, My day went like this--- Woke up at 3:15 am, took shower because I wanted to feel fresh for the surgery. DH and I left the house at 4 am, arrived in San Antonio 5:45 am. Registered at 6 am, was taken to changing room about 6:20 am, stayed there until about 8 am. The nurses then took me to the holding room where everyone waits until they are taken to their operating room. I stayed in the holding room until about 9:35. At that time, I was rolled to operating room. I was in surgery until 11:50 am. Don't ask me why the surgery took so long, not sure. Then I was taken to recovery until about 12:30pm at which point after that I was rolled back to my room to start waking up good and was told to relax. They also told me to get up in walk and try and urinate. Which I did both not a problem. Finally left San Antonio around 2:45 pm and was home by 4 pm. That was my day in a nutshell. All of the hospital staff was great and you can tell they cared a lot. I would recomment them to anyone. Well, here it is day two post-op and I feel like I have been hit by a truck. or did about 2000 sit-ups. The gas has been minimal so far. Please keep me in your prayers as I will do the same. I don't know if me feeling like I got hit by a truck is normal, can someone please let me know. Thanks for reading my story. Take care!

Hi MPatrizzi---My dietician told me the same thing. Yes, you want to drink those juices because it is the most calories you will be getting for the first week at least and you need some calories. Mine told me, while on the clear liquids for the first week, drink broth, have jello, drink apple, grape, or cranberry juice for the calories since the jello, broth, and popcicles<----dont have many calories, its not about the sugar, its about keeping your body hydrated and not feeling to weak. This is what I was told. Hope this helps.

Hi everyone. Well, today I picked up my Heparin and Needles to be taken for two weeks, three times a day. The question I have is, did anyone else have to do the Heparin Injections too and if so, where did you inject yourself at. The pharmacist told me either in the forearm or Belly. Also, I have to inject 1 ML, my needle says .01, .02, .03 and so on, so would the .01 be the 1 ML or would 1cc be the 1 ML? I hope this is not too confusing for anyone. Thanks and any replies would be much appreciated, I feel really dumbfounded right now.

Oh wow Afrykanvyolet--You have lost 38 lbs. already, you go girl. That is awesome!!! CONGRATS!!!
-
Hi Afrykanvyolet and thanks, my weightloss is here and there. I weighed the other day and had lost 2 lbs so far on pre-op but then TOM showed up and I have been very, and I mean, very bloated. We are talking full blown PMS. My DH says that he is glad he is out of town...lol. Anyway, I am hoping the morning of the surgery I will be able to weight in a lot less than what I started with which is the 247. We will see, I will definately keep all of ya'll updated. Take care!

Hi again...and thanks for all the reply's. Yes, they do help a lot. I just wanted to make sure to take the right dose and not overdose. I do not start the Heparin until after the surgery and my dose is 5000 USP. I am going to call my docs office and ask if I need to bring in to the hospital so they can show me. I was told the belly as well, but I am so new to this, don't wanna screw it up. Anyway, again, thanks for all the info. And if anyone has anything else to say that might help, then please do so. By the way, my doc makes everyone do the shots just to be on the safe side. I saw that posted earlier so I thought I would mention it. Take care everyone.

Okay, the May 14th date is no longer tenative, it is OFFICIAL!!! I have to be at the hospital at 6am and should be getting the surgery around 8am. Wish me luck, not too much longer to go. I am really excited and nervous at the same time. I also had my Psych eval done today and what is funny is my Psych doc said that I was not crazy and I have his blessing on paper. So, cool huh? Picked up all my meds, so we are good to go in that depatment. Doc gave me 1 pint of Lortab, Heparin for two weeks, and Pheneragan Suppositories. Plus a binder and Magnesium. I have been trying to stack up on what is really needed right now, like the broth and jello. Anyway, all is going as well as can be expected. Will check back in soon. Take care everyone!!!
