  1. I confess' date=' I do not know all that much about Band or By-Pass WLS....other than it is NON ADJUSTABLE...it just is...so you have to deal with it....

The band on the other hand, can be adjusted from 0 to 10, and anywhere in between.....

One thing I have learned when dealing with Patients, if you give them responsibility and control over their treatment...GOOD LUCK!

You send them away with full, thorough instructions, and it's 50-50 what you're going to see next time.....some people just want you to do EVERYTHING for them....they're helpless...and

expect someone to take them by the hand.....

Which is a good point for everyone...if your Dr. see's you're really into it and want to learn and do all you can, He/She will go that extra mile with you...that's why their in the profession they are...BUT if you act like you don't give a crap, etc, well either will they...they will just go through the motions by the book....

Last time I saw my PCP it was 7am, his first patient....he was glad to see me, we had a good talk, then as I was leaving he said this is my highlight of the day...it's all downhill from here!!

He knows what I do for a living so we both had a good understandable laugh.......

(BTW, personally, I still do not understand how anyone can gain their weight back with this surgery, other than a medical issue, or they really never had their band fully adjusted and relied upon their own strengths, and like me will eventually fail and gain it all back, plus some.....)[/quote']

You're super negative and it's not pleasant. Whether you believe you're spitting truth or not it's annoying. All your posts are the same. Jeez

  2. Well I have had some ice cream. The first thing I did after a clear liquid diet for 10 days I went and got a milkshake which I didn't even drink half of it. Being as how I'm kind of a veteran (had a band since July 09) I can listen to my band really well...my band was not restricted bc it slipped for the past 6 mos so I have been doin what I want (I maintained my weight) then I got gastritis and dropped 15-20 lbs got really sick and had to have Surgery so this is new to me all over again! Anyway I have been eating puréed avacados, mashed potatoes, apple sauce, SF pudding, and Protein shakes...I feel as though I could eat other thing but I don't want to push it! Anyway, this has been the most challenging thing for me! I have lost a total over about 70 lbs. I'm 248 and strive to be under 200, I'm also 6' tall...I have plateaued now at this weight for a while. I only lost about 7 lbs on the liquid diet!! Anyway sorry for my rant just so much to share and no one else understands! Including my fiancé!

  3. Hey guys! I'm 10 days post op! Yesterday was the first day I wasn't on a Clear Liquids diet. I find myself to not be very hungry. I know I'm not getting the calories I need...therefore, I'm not losing weight! Plus being as how my doctor fixed my slipped lapband he said I may never feel "full again" when I do it I don't really get full it's just nothing really taste good! Such a weird thing! This is the 2nd complication I have had (3rd surgery!) I'm unbelievably frustrated!

  4. I am post op day 5 and my shoulder pains just started getting worse these last two days. It's frustrating! GasX does not help mine.

Girl, walk walk walk. It's truly the only thing that helps! Also life your arms above your head as much as you can. Also if you have someone around that can rub your shoulders it will relieve the pain and let you relax a little with everything! :)

  5. Hey y'all! My lap band slipped about 4 mos ago. I was in the process of graduating from college and moving to a new town/state! I had my lapband recited on Monday. The doctor kept me in the hospital over night and kept me on no food or liquids until Tuesday afternoon until about 3. He then put me on a Clear Liquids diet until next Weds 3/20. I'm sure he is just taking extra precautions as to not have it slip again but man it's killing me! I don't think I mentioned but I have had the band since July 09 and went through 3 yrs of college with it! I thought I was a pro but it's like I'm learning everything over again!!
