  1. Hi all! I also have Cigna and am scheduled for surgery on Monday, how long is the approval good for? I want to reschedule surgery but I'm dreading having to do all the pre reqs all over again. Does anyone happen to know?

I have cigna too..they told me tge aporoval was goid for 90 days from the date you were approved. .so basically three month span..

  2. Sorry that You had to experience that. Our family members can be our worse critics. Well right after I had my surgery done in may maybe four 4 weeks later. I ran into a dinstant uncle who saw me and the first thing that he said was that I was as a house and needed to lose some weight..Talk about no filter. I was four weeks post op and not many family members and friends knew of my surgery then.I was hurt by what my uncle said. But i use that as motivation to keep on pushing through this journey. I am now 60 pounds down and 25 pounds away from my personal goal weight. I wish you and every one on this thread much sucess with your journey and lapbands.

  3. I learned the hard way. I always had drink and eat seperately after surgery. I was out with friends last week at a resturant eating brunch. I had started gulping down my Water after a couple bites of Breakfast and i could not move fast enough to get to the bathroom. I had a stuck feeling and felt like i could not breathe. I stood up and turned around and everything came up everywhere.. Total embarrasement.. My advice is stick to what the doctor says.. No eating and drinking at the same time. You dont want to find out like I did.

  4. Yippee! What a great success you have had this year -- you look amazing! Here's to 2014 and meeting our goals. You have really inspired me and I needed that today. Feeling some stress -- probably the holidays, etc., money, family, oh, you name it, we all have stress -- my mind is saying go get food and my band is saying no, sweetie, you don't need that. Phew.

No matter what happens don't stop pushing.slow progress is progress .Its still a struggle for me sometimes...afraid to eat something sometimes because I don't want to ever look like I did 60 pounds ago..but I thank god I made the choice to get my lapband because it has helped me..

  5. I am new to this site. I am in Kingwood and will be banded Nov 7' date=' 2013. I am on my pre-op (Replace two meals a day with a Protein Shake and have sensible dinner). My Dr is Dr Hollis.

  6. Tomorrow is the big day for me. I have butterflies in my tummy' date=' and I'm excited and nervous.

I am about to go pack my bag (its just a day surgery, no overnight), but I'm bringing a pillow for the car, my Pj's, a pair of socks, chapstick, my charger (just in case I do end up staying), my headphones to go with my phone, and of course me!

I am ready here too; I have my liquid Tylenol, 2 boxes of gas-x strips, heating pad, cold compress thing, sf Jello, sf popsicles, broth, cream of Soups, and my friend just bought me a bullet :)

I have my measuring cups and spoons, (2 sets each) and my small divided plates.

I feel like I am forgetting something!

Any suggestions? Helpful hints? Words of wisdom?

    aacck Im nervous!

But on the plus side, I have lost 5 pounds :P[/quote']

Wish you best of luck! !! You will come out ten times stronger! !

  7. Hope all the May bandsters are all doing well and those that are waiting for surgery you are making the right choice. .god bless

  9. It's more like when I get up to do anything I get real winded and its hard to catch my breath. It did get a little better' date=' but then I started using the treadmill and the next day, which was last Friday, I was just sitting down and felt like I really couldn't breath. I kept gasping for air and even tries coughing I used my inhaler thinking it was asthma, even though I have never had an actual attack. My husband came home from work and took me to the ER and they did a bunch of test, one which came back positive for some sort of gases in my blood which means a blood clot so they started treating me with blood thinners and then they did a CT scan which came back with no blood clots in my lungs, which is not to say they are not else where. My oxygen levels were also low so they had me on oxygen, they wanted to send me home with oxygen, but my insurance won't cover it without a specific test. So now I see my physician in the morning to get a referral to a Pulmonologist to see whats going on with my oxygen levels. Sorry that was really long. Did you have a hernia repair? I think the pain from taking a deep breath is normal after surgery especially more if you had a hernia repair.[/quote']

Oh no..im sorry about that..I pray that things get better for you..No I didn't have a hernia repair.just the lapband placement..I called my surgeon's office and told them I was having pains all in my chest and collar bone..The office nurse told me it was more than likely the gas that was causing pain..they told me to walk, gas x strips or liquids, and to get a heating pad..believe it or not the heating pad works. .after I walk around the neighbor hood I put it on my abdomen...I'll just be glad when all this gas is actually out of my body because its nothing nice feeling like you are having a heartattack..
