  1. Lex, it will change for the rest of your life You are feeling less restriction now because your swelling is going down. You are healing from a pretty major surgery. Your insides are super pissed at you right now. so they tried to battle you from within. Your insides have just realized it was a losing battle so they are retreating and unswelling. So you will feel less restriction now. Let your body heal. Show it some mercy. But in a few weeks you will crush their spirits yet again with your first fill!! ( insert evil laugh here) ( p.s. it would look so evil and cool if you were petting a white cat here as well ala any evil genius in a james bond movie). Your body will gather forces again and rebel ( swelling up but really just a futile show of force.). You will be restricted again for a bit but this too shall pass. And than the trick is to find the right amount of fills to produce some serious weight loss. Remember this though. This has now become a life long battle. You will gain a little some days, lose alot others. I often say this, the worst thing we do to our selves is weigh ourselves. It leads to too much worry. Let your body tell you how you are doing. Are your clothes getting a little too loose to be walking around a mall without security stopping you? Are you less out of breathe trying to run away from said security? Let those be your deciding factors for now. And remember- give it time!! you didnt gain weight over night ( although somehow I'm sure I actually did!!!) so you will not lose it all over night ( no matter how many times you write santa, again and again and again and again. I think he read those letters petting his white cat!!) You will do great!!!!
  2. This will happen. ALOT. You have to remember this, your body is an amazing machine that has the ability to adapt and change to meet its needs. We are like terminators ( which i think is totally cool cause i want to be bad ass like arnold in leather pants.... ummm... i digress). Anyway, our bodies adapt to changes we make. So after a while your body will realize you are eating less, and it will hold on to more of what you put in. Thus causing a weight loss stall. But over time you will start to lose again. Food choice is a productive thing. But eat the same thing every day and your body will realize it and be ready for it. Change it up a bit. Have fun (in moderation) and your body will burn through the fat much like the insides of my thighs burn through jeans!!! Best of luck!!!

    Fill Intolerance

Thank yo Mis and Chez. That is how i've been handeling this whole journey. When I go to eat more, or got to snack during the night I always say to myself- I had surgery so I wouldn't do this anymore. On most days that usually stops me. Mis, I'm going to follow up on that site today. Thank you for that. I think I was concerned because a good friend told me that they, as well as any one else with band could never physically eat that much. That than it would only just be another diet. I became nervous because I know I can physically eat that much, I'm just choosing not to. Thank you all for the support.

    Plication??

Hi. I had the plication with my band. I didn't experience any problems from it. I'm not sure about faster weight loss. I decided to get it because, well I guess as a fail safe for any band problems. If my band would ever have to come out I'd still have the plication. Therefore surgery wouldn't have been for nothing.

    Fill Intolerance

I found this very interesting. Ive been concerned a bit myself. I was talking to a friend the other day and told them that i have yet to feel any restrictions on the amount I can eat. I get stuck if i take too big a bite. And I get stuck if I don't chew enough. However I can still pretty much eat as much as I wanted. I've had some fills. I've had the band since Feb.2012. I've lost about 60 lbs. But am still nervous because I can sit and eat as much as i want. For dinner the other night I had 2 slices of pizza, and could have easily had a third. Poor food choice, I know. But its there in front of me and , well if I could have said no before band I probably wouldn't have needed one. When I asked my doctor about this the answer I got was that the band will not limit the amount you eat, but will makle you feel full longer between meals. Has any one else experienced this?

    I'm so angry with myself...

Hello butta. First let me start with this- I am one hundred percent totally on your side. Now lets talk this through, you had your second fill. You are not feeling full. That's not all you. The band has to work first. As for will power- I'd say most of us are in the same boat. Or we wouldn't be here. The scale? I think that is my worst enemy too. The cause for my eating disorder when younger. I hate scales. You can do this. And I will do whatever I can to help. Talk to your doc. Make sure all is well. And than lets take this one day at a time. I'm here if you ever want to vent or chat or just laugh with. Best of luck.

    How much can you eat?

Thank you Marci . I've never had that one more bite feeling. I'm good between meals for the most part. I just think I shouldn't be able to eat as much as I know I could if I didn't think about it. By the way, congrats. You've done great!!!

Two days post op hurts to eat!

I had the same experience. It passed after a week. But for the first week after syrgery I felt like I got run over by a truck. Followed by a marching band. I couldn't stomach the taste of anything. Even water tasted awful to me. It did pass, but i was concerned as well. I would just let your doctor know. But really work on sipping water at the least. It should clear up soon after the swelling goes down. Best of luck!!!!
  23. Jen, just wanted to check in and see how you've been doing? I hope well. Remember- this is a new Jen. Although I'm pretty sure the old Jen was spectacular too!! Again, we are all in this!! So whenever you need to vent ( or complain, laugh, smile, growl, ) we are here for you!!!
