The chewable was fine for me, I never saw a liquid.

    finished Pre op

Oh yeah, make sure to get some gas-x chewable or strips. Almost forgot about that one.

It all depends on your surgeon, they all have different ways of doing things.

    so nauseated :(

It's so that your liver isn't too heavy to push out of the way without damaging it. It sits right over the stomach. Also if yo have a hernia to repair, it will be right up there too. What kind of shakes do they have you on?

    Traveling after surgery?

If you absolutely have to. I would stop every hour or two to make sure to walk about 5-10 minutes at your own speed and make sure you have plenty of Water to drink. The pulmonary embolism is a danger if you are not moving regularly while your body is metabolizing the anesthesia. To combat this, walk at least 5-10 minutes every hour. It should say something like that in your discharge instructions.

    Popcorn

My wife eats popcorn, in moderation. She has been banded for over a year. It is just probably up to you and what your band will tolerate food wise. Nutritionally I would say that you shouldn't snack based upon what I have been told in my post-op care and weight loss materials I have been given. But you can make room for the calories if you just have to have it once in a while. I hope that kinda helps you.

    PBing at costco

Wow... Housewares in the trash cans? Heh
  8. Yeah, no kidding my wife is banded and has had it for a year, so her year of aftercare that "came with" the surgery ran out. It's going to cost $240 for 6 visits. So I am thinking the year of aftercare is pretty much invaluable!
  9. I would do that but I am diabetic and have to watch the sugar and dairy intake, dairy has lactose which is another sugar that doesn't usually get listed in with the "sugars" nutrition category on the labels. Thanks everyone, my wife is looking at me every day and getting pissed... Lol, it's in a good way
  10. Well, surgery was 03/20 and I went back to work today. I am on stage 2 of my post-op diet which is sliders. This pudding and Soup just isn't cutting it. I am so freaking hungry!! My morning so far has been a cup of peppermint tea (waking the tight band up) at about 5:30am a pudding cup at 8am, and I am hungry again at 9:30. What's up with that! At least I have my first post-op appointment tomorrow morning, maybe they can shed some light on this. It doesn't help that I have to walk like 1/8 mile to the other end of the hanger to get parts. I'm going to log lots of leisure walking on MFP... Lol

Dan, that's awesome to hear about the insulin!!

    Back to work!!

I had a 14 day pre-op diet 3-5 shakes a day and 4-6 oz of lean Protein if I had to chew something. I drank Water earlier and it got my hunger to go down for a while, at least till lunch. I think I have been walking too much, stomach feels funny. Kinda like it doesn't like to jiggle anymore. Only way I can describe it.

    One question

Yes, too big of a bite and that stuff is too thick to just swallow like that.

I finally did it. I've lost 200 pounds

That's a tremendous achievement in that period of time!! Hope you are out of the hospital and feeling better soon! Great job!
  15. Okay, I fell asleep on the couch last night before I could take pain meds. So I wake up all 3:30am and decide to take my pill. I chop it up into 4 small chunks and proceed to take the first piece with Water. It gets stuck and I have had trouble all morning. I tried to drink a shake and it was way too thick. I guess I will try some coffee next to see if that relaxes anything. Tight morning band sucks.
  16. Good luck! See you on the other side!
  17. It might have been my pharmacy that messed up. The nurse sounded surprised that I would have pills.

    3 months post op

    Good job, keep it up!!
  19. I wish I had liquid prescriptions. I got a hydrocodone pill stuck on day 2 post-op and it was the worst feeling ever, had to get 1cc removed from the band.
  20. You guys are going to wake up before you know what happened. I hope you have a good experience with your surgery like I did. Just make sure they give you liquid prescriptions and listen to that band! It's kinda like a really quiet back seat driver that will smack the hell out of ya!!
  21. Actually I was banded on March 20th, so this is the first.
