  1. It's funny you say you've changed your eating habits and done well without the band! I have the band and honestly think it is all me that's doing it. I only have 4 ccs.

Seriously there is more mental pressure to watch what I'm eating and workout because I have the band hanging over my head mentally. Does this make sense?

Family members know and I feel lots of mental pressure to succeed now. The fitness pal helps so much!

I want people to tell me if I'm not following a healthy path or not working out enough. I consider you all my accountability partners on My Fitness Pal. I lost a good weight loss buddy by opening my big mouth, but welcome you to kick my butt online and help support me in making good choices. Every day is a struggle for me, but I've had more success with MFP people than with this silly banded Facebook page I created. Thank you all for adding me!

  2. Please let me know if you have ever done this. Last Saturday, I walked for an hour on the elliptical and then in the park. The next day it began, bad port pain :( almost the way we felt after surgery. I haven't been able to return to the gym since ... I'm now on week 5 and had been feeling totally healed and fine until this occurred.

Can anyone tell me if they have had pain and it was due to a flipped port?? I read nothing about people being in pain from flipping their port, but that they don't have much restriction and I assumed I had zero restriction because I haven't had a fill. Also the band is totally empty, not even a small fill ( I was told by the surgeons office.)

I am calling the office on Monday for an X-ray I'm scared :(

Thanks for listening and any feedback is appreciated.

  3. We have to remind ourselves that this is a lifestyle and not a race or a diet. It is so hard to think that way most days, for me anyway. I want to see the same amazing results other patients are seeing. Don't fret and keep up the great work! Think about the weight you may have gained by not watching your intake, logging your food or working out, etc. xoxo

  4. I was unable to get the spider because I have had laparoscopic surgery for gall bladder a few years ago. If you've ever had surgery in that area, they may not be able to do the spider. I had a hiatal hernia fixed too. I live in the St.Pete area so the hospital was convenient. I stayed overnight at Palms of Pasadena hospital and my nurses were so awesome. That three month diet may be due to your insurance plan. I looked into the lap band when I lived on New Jersey and they required a six month diet.

  5. Oh, I did have a consultation! I meant in the hospital I never saw the doctor, but was told if I wanted to speak to her before the actual procedure, it could be arranged. I did not have to do a three month diet but that may be because of my insurance?? The pre-op is very generous compared to other surgeon's rules. I had to drop 8 pounds before the procedure but I think that # may depend on your weight. The 10 day diet was two shakes and a light meal. Much better than the post-op which is all liquids wahhhh ha ha. That's with any surgeon though and they even let you have creamy Soups, which again is very generous!!

  6. About 5 weeks since my surgery, I am having the same problem and am almost sure this is why I'm not losing much weight. I can feel the fullness in my lower belly and it's so uncomfortable. I took 2 dulcolax on Friday, which helped me drop 2 pounds this weekend. I need to figure out a long term plan. I am only "going" like once a week. :(

  7. Banded 1/30 and only down like 6 pounds. Thinking our scale is wrong since I've been logging all of my food an walking for an hour for the treadmill five times a week now that I can walk. My band is totally empty and I get my first fill in 18 days. To be honest, I'm depressed. I don't know why I haven't seen a bigger loss. I know that even on the pre-op I only lost 9 while most of the folks I talked to dropped 11+.

  8. Dr. Jessee did my surgery on 1/30. I haven't had any issues at all. The staff is very professional and have been very good with answering my questions, emails and more. They even called me after i was released from the hospital to check on me after surgery. The only thing that seemed odd is that I never saw the surgeon before or after surgery (though I never asked to speak or see her!) maybe this may be normal for surgeries since they do so many in one day.

I have to say the hospital staff was amazing too! If you can stay over night do it! Unless you're tough lol. I needed that attention and am so glad I planned to stay. I am glad I went with Dr. Jessee. She was recommended by my primary doctor and a coworker. Most people in our area would suggest her or her partner. Good luck!

  9. Congrats! I know how you feel! i was so unhappy my first week (banded 1/30) I was in pain and even cried a few times. It gets better, trust me! I actually was afraid of using a heating pad because I was worried I would melt the Dermabond used to "stitch" me up. Ha ha! That may sound insane, but I knew they kept talking about ice so I stuck with ice. Feel better!
