    Ladies - Your Thoughts?

My ex husband was bald and while he didn't do a whole lot of things well, he always looked very sexy! Lol
  2. Does it come with your wit, charm and man gathering skills?!? I might take that trade
  3. I can't wait. I really am looking forward to it. This has been 10 years coming and I'm ready to move on and really work hard to meet my goals!
  4. Skipping sex for a couple of weeks barely appears on my radar. This is a life changing major surgery. I think I can hold out.
  5. Me? Yes. I'm scheduled for revision on May 11th.
  6. It's funny since the maintenance with the band really wasn't that bad for me. I actually liked the idea of it being adjustable. It was the long term complications with slippage that ended up doing me in!! But whatever it was that kept you from going down that road, count your blessings! lol I value my experience with the band in a lot of ways though. I think it's really prepared me to fully commit to the sleeve in a way that I may not have been able to before (just due to age/immaturity). But I am glad that people are becoming more aware of its complications and choosing other options now! Glad you were able to avoid all the trouble!
  7. I had a horrible band experience. Lost 100# over two years and was fine until it slipped. It was removed in an awful surgery that went badly to say the least. I regained it all plus some. I was re-banded and had nothing but problems and never lost more than 40#. I am finally getting rid of my band completely after 10 years of fighting this thing!! Couldn't be more excited to ditch it!!
  8. AussieLady... Somehow we keep ending up on the same thread about people traveling for surgery! Lol I had a WLS in India in 2006 and had to fly home to California in the states 7 days later. It was a 22 hour flight and I'm pretty sure I cried through at least 12 hours of it. And I even had a pretty empty flight with a flight attendant who gave my husband and I a whole row so I could lay down. If you can do it closer, do it. That flight would be rough, to say the least!!

    Rohler1520's thread

So glad you've had a good trip so far! Hope you feel better soon!!
  10. If you are going to spend the same amount of money going to India for surgery as staying home, then why would you consider Medical Tourism? I think you're skipping over how serious this surgery is. Read through the complication board and see what can go wrong. If I could stay home and pay the same price that I would to travel and have surgery, it would be no question. Most Americans travel because, including transportation it's usually a difference of $5-6,000 vs $30-40,000. I would have the surgery at home and plan a holiday to India as a reward for meeting goal. Surgery really isn't the time to "experience a new country" especially as you'd spend most of your time at the hospital/hotel, even with 10 days.
  11. India was a bit of a culture shock for me, having not traveled. Though once I adjusted to that, my experience was seamless! But if you can do your surgery without travel, I would definitely suggest that over anywhere!! This is a major life change and not really a chance at a holiday. I would stick close to home if you have that option. There are risks anytime you have surgery and if you have the option to take those risks close to home, that is a much smarter route!!
  12. Unfortunately I went a while ago now and had a different surgery, but I can tell you that I was very happy with my experience. My surgery in Mumbai went better than my removal surgery in California where the doctor accidentally punctured my stomach, and better than my original band which was placed too high (also in California) and faced constant complications. I am not returning for my revision as I didn't want to pay for overseas flights or be gone that long this time (I now have small children). So I will be going to Mexico.
  13. I went to Mumbai, and I think you should read my signature a little more closely! Lol I hate my band. My first band I did lose 100lbs but it was nothing but complications. I gained it all back waiting for my second band after complications required emergency removal of my first. My second band hasn't had complications like my first but it just hasn't worked. I am revising to the sleeve in May. I believe your question is an honest one but I also see where some of your wording (and apparent double post) would give AussieLady some pause. She's a vet who is very active and isn't quick to call someone a fake. A little respect goes a long way around here.
  14. I actually had my lap band replaced in India. I know it sounds a little crazy, especially as an American who had hardly traveled, but I had no coverage at home and found a doctor that I trusted who was very skilled with rebanding (and back in 2006 there weren't as many as I hoped). I actually had a wonderful experience. I did not have the sleeve and it's been 6 and a half years, but I'd be happy to answer any questions you have.
  15. Not with the same doc or hospital but I'll be there getting sleeved on the 11th of May!!! We can count down together
  16. Congratulations!! The wait is feeling so long but I know it'll be here before we know it!

    Daily meds!

Congratulations! That's the best news!! I really think that since my migraines are hormonal (though frequent), that once I can take some weight off it might really help! Nice to have the insight of someone who's been there!!

    It works body wraps.

Like I said, I have yet to hear anything positive about them from someone who wasn't selling them...

    Concerned

Yeah, when I weigh some hair loss and excess skin (that if I want to I can deal with through plastics), against not dropping dead of a heart attack, it's not so bad!!

    Americans are doomed!

That's funny. Pregnancy was about the only time in my life I craved vegetables. I actually would lose some weight at a point in each pregnancy because I was gaining baby but losing fat. Don't worry though, I made up for it after delivery when that vegetable magnet was gone and nursing so I "needed" extra calories lol oh wow... I don't wanna talk about that time... That was bad! Lol
  21. They're right (don't tell them I said so, it's gonna start going to their heads), 25lbs is awesome and you're doing well. Forget the cheats you've had and start fresh right now. You'll be fine!
