What is involved. I will be having lap done at TLBC in May (I think - date not confirmed). I read about Optifast here in the forum. Is that all you have? All day? For how long?

Hi everyone, I have an appt with Nesrene on April 13th. Do you arrange your surgery on that date? I have already decided to go ahead with the lap.. Do you know if they accept visa?

Gaffer I can't remember what site I was on but there was a petition that you could add your name to asking for exactly that. They want lap bands covered by OHIP as well as the rny. I think the petition was for Ontario only though. I did sign it. I'm with you on the cause, however, I will probably already self paid waayyyy before then!

Robgoblin - the OHIP part was covering the consult with the DR. I think that you have to be referred by Lori. When you call to see if you can forego appt with her, ask if consult will still be covered by OHIP p.s. I have already called TLBC and have an appt for Apr 13. I would have gone earlier but I will be away on vacation. They said everybody goes on a preop diet it may be different in lenght of time per patient. When I go, I will book my surgery for asap. I have already decided and the money is set to go.......so sad oh well onward and downward (the scale that is!)

Has anyone heard of this place. They have 2 centres - both U.S. side. One is 70 minutes from Ottawa and the other is in Niagara Falls, N.Y. His price is $11,500 U.S. That still works out to only $13,500 canadian.

Gaffer and JLB - are you sure they are talking about lap band, because here in Ontario it is not covered by OHIP. The rny is covered and that one you have to wait for and the DR's can only do so many per year. Am I to understand that Alberta will eventually cover lap band?

Robgoblin - You should call TCC and tell them you are coming from far away and want to forego the appt with Lori for one with the Dr. only then maybe you can arrange the TCC appt for morning and TLBC for the pm and have a productive day. Absolutely do not waste your time with the so called qualifying appt with Lori. See if you still are covered by ohip though for the appt with the Dr. Good Luck D

Wow - you look amazing. Can you believe the change in you? I hope you are very proud of yourself because I don't think there is anyone on this board that hasn't visualized themselves smaller. Congratulations again, not just for Argon but for all of you that are or have made yourselves heathly, and happy. I know the biggest thrill really is inside you but it looks great on the outside too!

How is treschic doing since her surgery? Have you heard?

Has anyone heard from Can Mc yet? He is post op. I hope he is doing okay.

Robgoblin - I answered on another thread about the consult today at TCC, but I forgot to mention that this Lori said there was no pre op diet. I am taking everything she said with a grain of salt cuz I don't think she knows much. She did say that Dr.T was head of surgery at Credit Valley Hospital and that he had done many of these surgeries. I will be away on vacation from April 5 to 12 and told her that I needed my appt for after that. I will post as soon as I have been. Good luck at your appt.

Argon - Congratulations, I don't even know you and I am soo proud and happy for you. Keep up the great and diligent work.

Yoda - trust me when I say that your opinions and experiences are truly taken to heart. Flack was used as a concern which is what I felt from all of you who answered me about these unknown DR's. Robgoblin - I had a "consult" if you want to call it that with Lori. A skinny little thing who only went over the info on the 2 pages I had to fill out. I started to ask some questions about aftercare and how many he had done and she always answered that I will have to ask him that!! I think the only reason you see her is so that upon her referral, the consult with him is free. She did repeat at least 6 times that the procedure was a very simple thing and that if there were problems with the band it would be due to our non-compliance. I am not right now going to be put off by her, I will wait to meet the DR and see how my gut reacts. Don't put too much money in the meter if you get my drift. P.S. I am calling for a consult appt with TLBC.

Goldie- I called the office and the lady I spoke to knew very very little. The price looks good, but if you convert to canadian it is about 13, 500. You need to stay at least a week in a hotel because there is a post op check up in a week. Start adding up all the numbers and you are right back where you started. I suggest you read a lot of these forums, new and old as I have. I am really of the thought that it is best to stay close to home for easy follow up and go to a place that does this as a regular thing and not a once in a while thing. I am from Toronto and we do have a few choices. I don't think you are so lucky. Ask questions on the forum, these guys are fantastic. They are so full of personal experience and are so willing to share good and bad. I have a consult today at the Toronto Cosmetic Clinic but I am sure getting flack from this forum because this Dr Tin pretty much unknown here and all the lapsters highly recommend TLBC because this is all they do. Hi Argon I was reading a few pages back and I read where you had to be defilled. Is that the first time that happened since the time you have been banded? Have things been pretty smooth from the get go? I am a little freaked out about this. I am not banded yet but I thought most problems would happen near the beginning when we need to learn how to chew and eat small amounts.

How are you feeling? Who did your surgery?
