Imagine this in your best Abbott and Costello voice. "HEY DEEEBBBBBIEE!" Now imagine this in your best "Beverly HIllbillies" series. "come on in. Take yer shoes off. Sit a spell. Ya'll come back now ya here?" OK OK, I never said I was Don Rickles. ANYWAY! Welcome to LBT Debbie. Look around. Kick the tires. See if something catches your eye. We are all here to answer questions and offer support.

Eye surgery
Yeah I want that. To be young again. Fix that for me Marie. PUHLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sigh!! Now I am not so sure I should have the surgery. I am so afraid that I will make my eyesight worse. Right now I see fine up close and far with my left eye. My right eye is the one that has problems with distance. They are correcting that part of my vision. SIGH!! Oh well I can always cancel the surgery.

Eye surgery
Let me give some background first. I was about 12 when I first noticed I wasn't doing well in school. My mother and I didn't understand why cause I did really well in some classes and not too well in others. (Because I sat in the back in some classes and in the front in others. DUH!! LOL!!) We talked to my teachers and none could shed any light. This went on for another year till I was 13 and started "aunt flo". SORRY guys! Just bear with me. Lots of headaches, cramping, etc just normal things that are associated with it. RIGHT? Well the headaches lingered longer that the um,...er,... "aunt flo". LOL!!! So I went to see our family doctor. He suggested we get my eyes tested. Lo and behold I needed glasses. GO figure!! LOL!! So that the age of 13 I started wearing glasses. Anyone remember when they didn't have the light weight plastic lenses and we had to get the heavy glass lenses. Well I needed the heavy lenses. UGH!! And it took two weeks to get your glasses not the nifty swifty one hour like at Lenscrafters. Fast forward to Sept 2003. I hear about this really cool Lasik surgery. I go in for an extensive 2 hour eye exam to see if I am a candidate. I AM!!!! HOORAY!!!! My sweetie pays the $4500 fee. OUCH!!! I just love that man. He also paid for my LapBand as well. DOUBLE LOVE HIM!!!!! October 2003 I have Lasik surgery and can see 20/20 immediately after surgery. I cry and wail and gnash teeth,... oh wait no gnashing of teeth but I do cry and wail. I am thrilled with the results. I notice about 8 months after surgery a deterioration in my vision. The distance is not a crisp as it was right after surgery. I schedule an appt to get my eyes tested again. They say my eyes are still adjusting. I wait four months till my yearly checkup. NOTHING changes. I schedule another appt. They tell me that I still have what is considered 20/20 vision. I ask about will it get worse or better or what. They said if it wasn't better in a couple of months to come back. I just got home from the eye doctor TODAY. I have a second LASIK surgery scheduled on March 22nd. I am having monovision with custom vue to make the vision better in the weaker eye. If they try to correct both eyes I will lose all close up vision in both eyes. This way I can still have close up vision and my distance will be much clearer and still not have to wear glasses. HOORAY!!!! I am just not looking forward to another surgery right now. I will be in and out in under 15 min or less actually. It takes longer to set up for the operation than the operation itself. LOL!! My doctor is Charles Manger, III and his clinic is Saddleback Eye Center. It is located in Laguna Hills which is in the Irvine area. So on Tuesday the 22nd, I go to the clinic for the surgery and stay overnight at an area hotel. Then the next morning go back to the clinic via their shuttle for a checkup then I will take a taxi to the train station and come home. My sweetie is driving me down and staying with me and then taking me to the hotel afterward, but he has to get home that night so he can take my 17 yr old son to his driving school classes the next morning. UGH!! I am not at all anxious about it, I just didn't wanna have to do this right now. But if I don't do it now I would have to wait till May. I will be out of town for the month of April. OH well it is what it is.

Cross Your fingers-please
OK I keep getting strange looks from people. My eyes are crossed so I am bumping into things. My fingers are crossed and everyone asks me if my arthritis is painful. My legs are crossed so people think I need to use the bathroom and keep pointing me in that direction. DO YOU KNOW SOMETHING YET????? LOL!!! Love Rica's comment: "Keep hope alive"

Hmmm we did that. They aren't there. See the dilemma? I just don't know what to do now.

That is true. I had forgotten that. But the ones she started are gone too. ??? I am at a loss. Unless there is a time frame that old posts are kept around. Alex or the company that runs the software may have built in a system that will delete threads automatically if there is no activity to clear up space. I am just guessing of course.

I did an extensive search both with her name, my name (cause I responded to the posts she is missing), and did an archive search. They are not to be found. I suggested she contact Alex to see if he can find them for her. I exhausted all my resources as a moderator looking for them. SIGH!! Any you other moderators have any ideas to try?

Has Anyone heard of this..........?
My policy with PacifiCare also has an "exclusion" but I am fighting to get reimbursement. I have heard that PacifiCare is not approving the band. SO, keep fighting.

Hard a really bad night last night!!!
I use Excedrin for Migraines when I get bothersome headaches. It has caffeine in them so make sure it is ok with doc to take them. THey work within 15 min on me to relieve my headaches. The only thing about them I hate is that I have to bite them to get them small enough to go down. They do thave the long slender pills that go down easier now. The gel caps are awful to pass through the band. HURTS!! They will pass but I don't advise the Excedrin gel caps.

need advice- what would you do?
Mike: If I were in your shoes, I would have the surgery. But let me put this bug in your ear, did you realize you can apply for reimbursement from your insurance company after the surgery? There of course is no guarantee that they will reimburse but it is possible. I had the surgery in MX. I am in the process now of the filing for reimbursement. It is a long drawn out battle but it is looking hopeful I will get some of my money back. And just think I have lost 56 lbs in the process. But I think you have already answered your own question. Good luck.

I read that Jerry you're hired and I got confused. LOL!!! Then I realized what you meant. I am too tired tonight. LOL!!! I just think this would be a good way to let people come and learn that doesn't like to or can't go to support group meetings. OK those that are interested please respond with a topic for the first chat and a time that works for you. Ex: Fills = fluoro vs non fluoro @ 7pm EST

Chat room ideas
I was reading a thread here tonight about Support Group Topics. I had an idea that I wanna run by you guys. Get some feedback. We have this wonderful tool on this website and we aren't even using it properly. The Chat tool. What if we see if there is enough interest in scheduling a structured 1 hour chat on a specific topic for the month. Maybe one of the moderators could either lead the chat or someone could volunteer to lead it. Feedback guys? Let's get back to what this site is all about. Support, information, guidance, love, and caring about each other. Who's with me? Geez I feel like Jerry Maguire. LOL!!!

Support Group Topics....
Nutritionist = Discuss the correct way to calorie count Exercise guru = Discuss some techniques for alternative exercising if it hurts your belly where the band is. Psychologist / Therapist = How to deal with the changes of being overweight to being of normal size (well you know what I mean by normal = what is normal?) These are just my suggestions. I am sure others will chime in.

I could drink that amount in about a week. That first week though give your body time to heal. Don't push it. Rest and relax and be babied. LOL!!
