Joe I got a reaction from Andrew0929 in Wife Eating Habits Worsening
Only you control what goes in your mouth. For the longest time I tried to blame my wife for my poor choices. Don't buy it and I wont eat it, if its not in the house I wont go out and get it. Would it be easier if it wasn't around, yes it would. What it all comes down to is will power. And will power is like a muscle the more you use it the stronger it gets...

Joe I got a reaction from Mrs.RRn in Gym (lifting) frustrations
This is an interesting web site for those interested in strength training please take it with a grain of salt as it's run by a bunch of meat heads. There is some good information to be had.

I didn't mean to offend anyone, and he is a meat head, but if you read through the macho crap there is IMHO valid points about lifting heavy and building muscle, and that cardio is not the end all to working out.

Joe I reacted to TheOldMeAgain in Stop the Whining Over A Few Miserable Days!
I Know this is not supportive and will make a few people upset. But it's My Rant & Rave.
This is not aimed at those experiencing complications from surgery. It's about people that REGRET surgery after a few days or weeks of the going getting tough. Did they research WLS?! Or how how read the many stories on this site about others experiences after surgery? No one said it was going to be easy. Feeling nauseous, vomiting, no energy, not being able to get in all your liquids and Proteins is pretty common. That is no true reason to REGRET this life saving procedure!
Yes I do understand the emotional effects surgery can have on you with your hormones being out of whack. Still not a excuse. I was prepared for all these things. In the hospital I had a few issues with the nursing staff where my pain medication was withheld from me. I was in pain for hours crying, had to call my sister to come to the hospital in the middle of the night. Not ONCE did I wish I didn't have the surgery. I knew soon or later my pain would be managed! And that's the whole point. It will get better. You can't whine and regret things because your experiencing a rough time. Life is like that too.
So UNLESS your have a serious life altering complication SUCK IT UP!!! You knew the possible side effects...
Rant Over

I like you to exercise your will power, the more you exercise it the stronger it gets. The first set I'd like you to do is the grocery store walk by. Any food you shouldn't eat just walk, by don't allow it in your basket, don't bring it in your home, If there is nothing bad in the house you cant make a bad choice. Also do sets of am I really hungry or eating out of boredom. This should get you started on the right track.

Do WHATEVER it takes to get yourself back on track. You've got this!!!

Really, just whom do you think you're sneaking them past??!! At this point, no one on here can help you but YOU.
You're no beginner. You know your limits. Are you really gonna let 80 pounds lost and all that effort just slide away because you think you want Oreos. Have one and move on. (Buy a package of two, not 30) And you know your calorie limits too. Get back to closely tracking your intake including the Oreo and drink more fluids to fill you. If you don't feel like drinking more.......then get your butt to the gym and sweat. That will make you thirsty and keep you busy and keep your calories in check as well. If you want the occasional sweet or junk food.....limit the amount and then only when make yourself go immediately to the gym and work it off. You don't have to deprive yourself, just stay disciplined.
Your kind of success is what motivates the rest of us to our goals. You don't need ideas......you're just getting bored and lazy and trying to fill it in with bad choices and habits. You can do this, so no more sliding and get back on track.

Joe I reacted to NewSetOfCurves in Muscle Loss Sucks
Ya, the calories need to get up there ASAP. Your body is in starvation mode and it's eating your muscle to make up for that deficit. I'm up to 1,200 cals a day, 1,400 on hard core lifting days. Egg whites with feta, oatmeal with some unflavored Protein Powder, Protein Shakes, low sugar Protein Bars (those are actually sliders for me) all aid on getting that Protein in. I love the unflavored protein powder, because you can add to foods you cook. Also, a slow release protein powder is great at night. I was super weak post op. I could barely curl a 20, but I'm up to the 35's.
