    Any March Sleevers?

March 4th for me, it all worked out good so far. I asked my PCP in December for a referral, and was approved by my insurance in January. I start my pre-op liquid diet on Monday February 25th. It took my a long time to make up my mind Sleeve or RNY finally I decided the RNY was just to invasive and the Sleeve would be better for me, it sure felt good to finally make that decision. So sick of chicken!

After reading about how they farm talipia I don't eat it any more. Or for that matter any farm raised fish, I only eat wild caught fish more expensive but much better for you.
  7. I'm gettin close to be able to scheduled a surgery date, the closer it gets the harder it gets to commit. I been following a diet and exercise program pre-surgery, and am feeling good and dropping weight. Can I do this without surgery? Wait, I have done this with out surgery a couple of times. Will the surgery change my ability to maintain a long term weight loss? I don't know, and cant get an answer from anyone I ask. That will be up to you they say, well its up to me now. Will the surgery make it easier? I hope so. I hear people can and do gain the weight back, will I? So confusing, so hard, what to do, what to do... Then there is RNY or sleeve another tough choice. I've got my work cut out for me for the next few weeks I hope I make the right decession. I don't really expect any answers just needed some where to vent.

    Striiv

Does anyone here use the striiv pedometer? I just started using mine a few days ago and I've walked lots more than I had been. I like the challenges and seeing how my friends are doing. For now it only works with the iPhone it cost $49.00.

    Striiv

It seems accurate enough, I like the challenges. I used the app for a day or two it really kills your battery cause you have to leave the gps on all the time so I bought the striiv device from best buy so far I'm having fun with it. I added you as a friend.

    Carb question

I'm glad on offence was taken because certainly none was intended. I just think sometime they care more about getting you in to surgery and forget about the after care. It seems the further out you get the less help there is. Which is why this site is such a valuable place to know. so glad I found it.

    Carb question

Not to sound mean but how can anyone go through this and not know what you should and should not do post op, i just don't understand. Ask your NUT or your doctor what they want you to do. It seems like some places want to get you in for the surgery (money) and lack on the follow up care especially long term

    Not Execrising

I like gadgets, I use a bluetooth heart rate monitor, my iPhone and the digifit app to keep me goin. It has graphs and calories and all kinda cool stuff. The best part its helps keep me motivated to do it...
  15. I'm in progress trying to get a RNY I passed my pscyh eval, tomorrow I have a 6 hour group meeting. Then a meeting with the surgeon. I've been looking for any information I can find, one interesting thing I came across is a youtube video of an RNY operation. They also have a gastric sleeve, and gallbladder surgery. I found it interesting.

  17. I've been trying to balance on a two legged stool for many years, one leg diet the other exercise. At times I did good, my weight would come down, I felt good. Then for me it was usually diet, portion control or lack of. And I would start to creep back up tilting the stool till the leg would break and I would fall, and I would be right back where I started from. I would usually keep on exercising, always like the feeling. My hope is I found the third leg to my stool WLS. I made up my mind to have RNY Bypass surgery. From what I understand the surgery will give me a new tool, a pouch. And like any tool I need to learn how to use it. I've heard lots of scuttlebutt about when to eat, when to drink, and how much time to take between eating and drinking, how many times to eat, how much to drink and what to eat and drink and what not eat and drink.... It looks like I have a lot to learn. But first I need to do what I can to get the surgery scheduled psych eval on Monday...
  18. After a recent physical exam my PCP again suggested I consider WLS. A short time later I saw a Dr. Oz show titled the most under preformed surgery; it was the RNY gastric bypass. After doing some research I decided this is what I wanted. It was not an easy decision a friend’s wife died after this surgery. I wrote a letter to my PCP asking for a referral for the surgery. In the letter I included my failed attempts at weight loss. Multiple attempts with weight watchers, a medically supervised liquid diet followed up with a maintains plan, miles of walking, bike riding, and swimming, lifting tons of weights. Only to reach a new high in my weight after each failed attempt. A week after my PCP submitted the referral letter my insurance provider approved my psychological exam for WLS, it will be on Monday November 26. I’m not sure of what’s next but I’m ready…
