  1. I told my surgeon that fear is/was a very good deterrent for me. I didn't deviate from his directions one iota. I was too worried about the ramifications. ME TOO!!!!!

    Blood clots are rare, but.....

Most importantly - you are ok!!! I think your post is great. Blood clots were a real concern for me as my family has a history of clotting issues. My surgeon took it very seriously and made my plan accordingly. Your post has some wonderful points and thoughts for others to consider and be mindful of!

The scale finally budged a little!!! HW 304 SW 283 CW 271.6 I have stalled since my follow up appointment. Didn't think it would happen that fast!
  8. I had a complete hysterectomy (robotically) and my gall bladder (laparoscopic) removed. Didn't seem to affect my sleeve surgery.

When did you go back to work?

My surgery was December 26th. I worked a half week this week. I could have probably worked all week and not thought twice about it. I go back full time on Monday (13th). However, I am not allowed to travel for my job until the first week of February.

    Considering Sleeve Surgery

It's a little early for me to chirp too much about my experience. I was sleeved on December 26th. I had no problems with the surgery nor recovery. I lost about 10 pounds in the first 08 days. Since then I have been on a stall. Which from all I can tell on this forum is normal. My PCP recommended WLS. Initially, I started on the lap band track. Ultimately I ended up getting the sleeve. So far I am pleased with the whole process. I have dropped about 32 pounds since meeting my surgeon. I agree with Mrs.RRn - you need to study up on the surgery, the diets, the doctors, aftercare, and aspect you can... Only you can decide whether or not this is the route for you! Good Luck with whatever you decide.
  11. I'd run like hell from that situation. I'd find a new clinic and have all related medical records transferred. I did that in MN and things went through smoothly. Good Luck!!!

    New Surgeon

I switched surgeons midstream and did NOT have to start over. If you are having doubts, follow your instinct and get a different surgeon. It was the BEST move I could have made!!! Good Luck!!!

December sleevers 2013 just checking in!

I was sleeved on 12/26. Surgery went well as did recovery. No pain meds after leaving the hospital. In the first week, I lost 10 lbs. The scale has not budged since Friday of last week. I haven't advanced to pureed foods yet. I have been living on my Protein shakes, tomato Soup, strained cream of chicken (and other flavors), and yogurt. I am exercising an average of one hour per day. Looking forward to getting out of the stall and on to bigger and better things!!!

    Thoroughly unscientific poll

My doctor didn't give me a goal weight. I picked one based on weight and BMI. However, I am not wedded to that number. I am more interested in how I feel as the scale drops.

    Help me

I'm in the same boat Megpie. I have been told that will change with the non liquid diet. I have modified what I am doing as Madam Reverie has said. My surgery was December 26th.

    Tell me about upper GI

The words upper GI and endoscopy are not interchangeable. I went to my PCP and told her that the bariatric surgeon would like an upper GI done. Oops! They ended up calling the bariatric clinic to verify what I needed. It was an endoscopy. In my mind I knew what I needed - but I picked the wrong words to describe it...not realizing they meant two very different things.

    Feeling lost

I love the EAS products also!
  22. I had to switch doctors in the middle. Essentially, the first doctor had all of the preparatory paperwork done. I saw the new doctor one time and he submitted the paperwork to the insurance company. It was approved immediately. Good luck!

    Ooooo nooooo!

I got an ear and sinus infection prior to my original surgery date. Was miserable and went multiple times to urgent care. I was feeling much better the day of my last office visit before surgery. I pulled out my meds and told them I had a few to add to my chart. When I got to prednisone, the nurse went silent. She knew that I had a hell of time getting to this point and didn't want to be the bearer of bad new. You cannot be on prednisone and head into surgery. Apparently, it suppresses your immune system. So, I ended up finishing my prednisone and beginning a three week regimen of high doses of Vitamin A. Surgery was scheduled for just over three weeks later. :-( The moral of the story is if you need to see a doctor - AVOID, if you can, letting them put you on prednisone. Hope you get to feeling better!
