    Is this 'normal'?

I never felt that "full" feeling either but I also didn't really feel hungry. My doctor had me only eating 4 oz of food (liquids included other than water) per meal. Make sure that you are not eating just to eat. Maybe you are not feeling full because you were never really hungry...maybe head hunger. Just an idea. Hope that helps

Hello Everyone! What's your diet consist of?

I should mention that when I say "diet" its not a bad thing. I am asking what everyone is eating also refereed to as a "diet." Even if it is just I eat whatever I please. That is still a form of diet. Just so everyone has an idea of what I am talking about. di·et1 ˈdī-it/ noun 1. the kinds of food that a person, animal, or community habitually eats. "a vegetarian diet" synonyms: selection of food, food, foodstuffs; informalgrub, nosh "health problems related to your diet"

    Atkins Eaters...Need Suggestions Please :)

I am the same way. I need to get myself straight before I can go off and eat or I will just continue to crave loads of carbs and sugars. My Doctor and his nurse actually recommend Atkins in order to get eating under control. I was hoping this post would be more helpful but I can see the fact that Atkins is followed by diet is throwing it off. My mom did Atkins for a few weeks to get herself back on track and ended up dropping 50 pounds in a few months. (She is a WLS person too).

    Atkins Eaters...Need Suggestions Please :)

My doctor told me to follow Atkins. In order for me to eat properly I have to follow some kind of plan to get me on the straight and narrow. I am still learning how much I can eat. Now I may be doing Atkins but If I get full while eating my meal I stop. It is just a basic line for me. Reminds me that Ice cream is not a viable option...haha

Hello Everyone! What's your diet consist of?

I have to follow a eating plan to help control my habits. If I don't watch myself I fall back into bad eating habits. Now I may follow Atkins but I don't make myself eat. i only eat when I am hungry and if I am hungry and get full while eating then I stop regardless of how many carbs I need. My body is weird. haha.

    Miracle Noodles

Wash them and dry them as well as you can. If you don't they will make your sauce watery. I have had them, not to bad. I agree that spaghetti squash is good too but it has carbs. I will enjoy the noodles every so often but not often. I pick mine up at a local health food store called "Nutters".

Hello Everyone! What's your diet consist of?

I did not start off as a specific diet eater but then I wasn't losing so I asked around and my nurse recommended Atkins. I could not tell you how many calories I eat a day but not many. My doctor does not want me to eat unless I am hungry. I eat my protien 3 bites to one veggie If I am having veggies. Sometimes I am not that hungry or I am having a tight day. Only recently have I been active in getting my water in. I hate water with a passion. HAHA. it is getting easier tho! Karen: I am a boring eater too. I stick to what I know!! I do not eat bread...I like chicken, ground beef...some days...and turkey bacon. I actually got stuck on a piece of turkey on Christmas so I am off of that for a few seasons...haha lucky for me its not coming up anytime soon.

    Alcohol and the band

I do not drink often. I had my surgery and since then I have had a few drinks...It takes me a while to get them down and I really don't crave them. I will have a drink here and there, but honestly I don't drink much anymore not sure if it was the band or just the realization that I am trying to lose weight and don't need to knock back empty calories all the time...This whole carbonation thing is crazy. Having a drink won't kill ya. The carbonation is mostly a gas thing. It makes you uncomfortable is all. I can take gas-x and have no problem drinking those lovely carbonated beverages on occasion. Hope this helps. Remember they have no benefit to you other than being tasty and a social thing. Losing weight and getting healthy is way more important....save the alcohol for important occasions. Good luck!!

    Hello everyone

Congrats on your upcoming surgery. Just a warning...there will be negative nellies but do not let them get you down. I am one to say that the band is a good choice for some people. (I have been banded 9 months now). I have had both the good and bad with my band, but when it was bad...it was because I did something to it. I was first going to have the RNY. I changed my mind because my mom had the RNY and I was aware that they do not absorb nutrients as well as those with lab band. I know I want to have children in the near future and I wanted to be able to give them every drop of nutrients I could. I also wanted to be able to let my band out if I needed to eat more in order for my child to have what it needed. Say while breast feeding. So that is why I decided to go with lap band. Again good luck and feel free to check out my blog wshfullyshrnkng.tumblr.com I recently started blogging again and hopefully it will be helpful to you. GOOD LUCK!!

Bucket List? Life after Lap Band.

Hmmm...My Bucket List....Guess I should start one! 1) Fly in a plane comfortably. 2) Go to an amusement park (not be worried about not fitting...it was close last time I was at one) 3) Take photo's with my horses and look like I belong there...(I always look gigantic even next to a half a ton animal.) 4) To have my boyfriend carry me a crossed the threshold of our new home on our wedding night. 5) Go on a road trip and take pictures with all the crazy attractions that are out there...example: biggest ball of yarn, Largest Thermometer...etc. That is a start. Maybe I will make a video about some others in the future. Good luck everyone.

Can I Get Some Advice Please

Okay here is MY OPINION...I am not a medical professional BUT I wanted to share my opinion. First off, My doctor says to only eat when you are hungry. If you are not REALLY hungry all those times a day...don't eat. Also my doctor and his staff (nurses who have had WLS) suggest doing Atkins. Might be something worth trying. Also could it be that you need to spice things up? Maybe your body is in a rut. I know if I eat a certain type of food to often and do the same exercises a ton that my body goes "eh this is nothing" So maybe try taking a class at your local gym to spice things up. Another thing that was suggested to me is to not eat after 7pm at night. The food basically just sits there. You normally are far less active after that time at night. I hope you get the answer you are looking for. I have been there. You can get through this. Your body is just past the shock of not being able to eat so much so now its going to take that much more work to make it disappear. GOOD LUCK!!

    Painnn

I too have days where I seem to have more pain under my left rib (My port is healthy and lives below my ribs). I found that pain to be gas related typically but I do believe that occasionally my tubing makes its way up that direction and irritates me. There are days I can not lay on that side. My doctor said its all normal and I have had it checked out via test and such. Its all good. Good luck!! Let us know what happens at your doctors apt.

    Having Some Discomfort

SIMPLE...GAS-X It is my savior. I had not had a fill in like 2 months and had like no restriction. BUT I was getting gas pains from certain foods. Then I discovered Gas-X and OMG it is AMAZING!! haha. I would try that before you go getting a unfill. I feel much better now. If I feel it coming on, I chew a pill and within a few minutes I feel relief. I recently got a fill and the gas pains were more extreme...used my Gas-X and problem solved. Best of luck!! Let us know what you do and or what happens!!

A whole new meaning to out of body experience...

I agree with this as well. I have lost 50 pounds that is a lot for any person. I look better than I did before but I still see those flaws. I can only imagine how bad I will beat myself up when I do get down to being that person that people call thin, healthy, skinny. Don't get me wrong I am ready to be there...but I know I will pick at myself just as I do now. My brain has been wired like this for a long time. It won't fix its self. I have to consciously work on improving my thought process.

A whole new meaning to out of body experience...

That is actually a really neat way of thinking about it. I had never thought about it that way. I have done that before, felt that I had more room to squeeze through only to bump or knock something over with my body. Thanks for that prospective. It still sucks thinking I am not that big only to be proven wrong lol. Dang skinny inner goddess! I read a few other post and I laughed with a few of the things I seen such as BURN IT...talking about a unflattering picture...stole the words right out of my mouth!!

Starting over, 5 years after surgery

I am not in the same boat. I have only had my band for 9 months...yes there are times its been bad for me...but it was because I was bad to it. If that makes sense. What I want to tell you is that you can do this. My mom went off the wagon for awhile and she has come back with a vengeance She has lost below her previous "lowest" weight and is doing very well. She had RNY which I know is different, but my belief is that you can do this. IF you try again I know you can do this. Don't get to big of a fill. Start out small and work your way up. To tight is not right and too loose is not good either. I am here if you want to chat. I have battled the "can't get food down except ice cream and chips" deal too. Good Luck!!

bad day, bad habits, & boredom

Look....We ALL eat badly from time to time...anyone who says they NEVER slipped up I would call them a liar...Let that 5 pounds be a warning to you to get your act together! I am not beating on you or anything...I am speaking from experience...I have been in "that" place for a month. I am getting back on track and just after one day ONE DAY of changing my habits...I lost 4 pounds. Yes I know some of it was probably water weight, but I have maintained that loss all week. It will get easier the lighter and healthier you get. You will start to see the brighter side. I have wavered but now I am coming back that much stronger. Message me anytime and we can chat. I am here for you. We are going through this as a community and it takes time to change years of eating that way. YOU CAN DO THIS!! When you're bored...find a new way to keep yourself occupied. Take up some type of art...get out and exercise...make youtube videos talking about your struggles. Do anything except eat...that head hunger is the worst. But I have faith you can overcome it. You just have to try really hard to get yourself in check. Good Luck!!

    Leaving..

I have always hated that people leave things because there are those people who feel the need to always rain on everyone's parade. It's a fact of life that no matter what we do...there will always be someone there criticizing us and trying to make us feel small and beneath them. Our decision is just that. It's OURS! No body can tell us what to do, when to do it, or how to do it. For some lapband is right, others its RNY, others its the sleeve and then there is normal Exercise and Healthy eating. None of these ways are wrong. Some of us just need the added help of a WLS to get us in gear and to assist our healthy eating and fitness. I could never figure out why some had the need to bash our choice...it doesn't affect them so what part does it play in their life? I am glad you didn't leave because I enjoy all the support you offer.
