What's funny is when I took this picture I was thinking, dang look how much I've lost. Now I look at it and think, girl you were still big! lol

That feeling of accomplishment will never get old! The first pair of size 14's I've worn in over 10 years, probably been 14 years.

    EGD

    From the album: Progress!

This is the day I had my EGD to find out if I had a hiatal hernia. Exactly one week before I had surgery to get my band!

I have literally drooled over Miss Me's, and to finally have a pair that I feel good in is the best feeling.

Feel so much more confident going on job interviews!
  9. During surgery my surgeon put 5.4 in the band (was only supposed to put 4) and I felt restriction. It did seem to loosen after a while. I went in for my first fill which put me at 5.9, and I lost 11.2 lbs that month. I just got my second fill yesterday which put me at 6.4 ( I have a 10 cc band) and I'm still on liquids. They have me do liquids for 2 days, then soft foods on the 3rd day, so I'm not sure about the restriction yet, but I know it's going to be there for sure. I was eating much less than I normally would, so I know I'll be even eating less now. I'm down 42lbs since March 13th, so obviously it's different for everyone! Good luck and I hope it happens for you soon!!
  10. Congratulations! I am still thrilled about mine! I'm down 37 pounds since my surgery on March 13th, and I feel great!

Don't talk about it, be about it.

Right, I'm thinking the same thing about the before pics!! lol The one I have up is about as bad as I'll let it get for now! Yep, I had to switch to the cream soups too. I've had so much broth it's almost like they're tasteless now. I've seen other peoples diets and they can have thinned down cream of wheat among other things. Oh well, this too shall pass! It'll be worth it in the end.

    Protein shakes

I went through True Results to get the band and they have their own shakes. True Results Meal Replacement Shakes, Strawberry is delish, and chocolate is pretty yummy also!

Hi WhatsAWally! I'm figuring this site out too and wanting to meet new people. I have 2 kids and a husband that works his tail off so I can't make it to any support groups. Today I am one week post op too! I had hernia surgery and the lapband placed at the same time, and I'm still sore but not too bad. I was grocery shopping 3 days out! The worst part was the awful shoulder pain I kept getting from the gas they put in me!! The way I look at things though, I had a c-section with my 2nd and if I can make it through that, this is a piece of cake. My starting weight was 242, I started the pre op diet 1 week before the surgery, long story, and lost 10 lbs which was enough for my Dr. I'm down to 226 now, which is a 6lb loss post op. I too am soo sick of protein shakes, and chicken broth! I want FOOD! I can start having low sodium soups and almond or soy milk as of today. I went through True Results and they have their own protein shakes, and they at least taste pretty darn good. I got extremely nauseous yesterday, had to be somewhere really early so I took an Adkins low carb shake with me, hadn't tried it yet, and when I got the chance tried drinking it. GROSS. I ended up not being able to eat anything til 1, I cheated and had some cream of chicken soup thinned down with a little milk as soon as I got home. Let me tell you it was heaven on a spoon! lol I'm not supposed to eat it though cause of the sodium, but I'm going to try to find some low sodium ones today. I have yet to take some before pics, I've been meaning to do it. Think I will do that today! Anytime you need to talk I'm here. I'm constantly getting on here for answers to questions and inspiration!
  15. I'm 1 week pre-op and for the first week is "thin liquids" - Chicken/beef broth, protein shakes with NO milk, crystal light, sugar free jello, sugar free kool-aid,coffee and tea. The 2nd week for me is starting tomorrow, "thicker liquids",I can start having tomato soup, and other soups without chunks, plus anything from week 1. Week 3 "soft foods"-Soft fruit, cooked mushy green veggies, soft scrambled eggs, baked fish, sugar free pudding, chicken or tuna blended with light mayo. Week 4 is when solid foods come in- 1 protein shake for breakfast, then small meals for lunch and dinner, the good lean proteins and a veggie. I've noticed a lot of DR's approved post op foods differ. Some people are allowed to have creamed soups, pudding in the first couple of weeks, I'm not. They also want me to have at least 3 protein shakes a day in the first couple of weeks and drink 2 qts of water. I'm also told not to drink milk for the first week post op, then in the 2nd week I can start having soy or almond milk. Like I said, every Dr is different and gives different do's and don'ts. Good luck!

    Hunger Pains

I was banded on Wednesday. All I've been having is water, and chicken broth. The paperwork I was sent home with said the only kind of "food" I can have is SF Jello. I feel like I should try to eat some yogurt or something because I know my body needs something. I have protein drinks that I sip on, but I feel so full I feel like I'm forcing everything down.
  17. I know it does seem wrong! lol Thanks so much that definitely calms my nerves a bit. I have an EGD scheduled for the 6th so I'm waiting as patiently as I can. The advocate that's helping me through TR told me she didn't have any symptoms of a hiatal hernia and she had one so that helped me too! Congrats to you on getting banded, and best of luck on your journey! I'm praying I will be on my journey soon!
  18. Awesome, thank you and congrats to you!
