    Day 2 pre op starving

Hey misscarrie... I haven't started my preop diet yet but mine is two weeks as well. When I casually asked my doctor what would happen if I cheated he told me he had a patient that cheated and he could tell when he started the surgery. He then told me that he closed her right back up!!! They can tell because they're shrinking your liver...if I woke up from anesthesia to find out that because I cheated he wouldn't do the surgery I would be a mess. You can do it bud...its only two weeks and nothing will taste as good as having the body you've always dreamed of will feel!

    morning or evening?

All the research I've done says that morning exercise is the best? Has anyone noted that? I'm thinking that doing something is better than nothing regardless of the time. If I start in the morning though...there is a lot less chance of making excuses. Thoughts?
  3. That's definitely a thought. I can't decide if I should just go hog wild until my surgery date ( I go to Hawaii soon and literally as soon as I'm home I go on my liquid diet) or if I should start cutting things out now. What are everyone's thoughts on this?
  4. My doctor did tell me no more carbonated drinks. I haven't been banded yet so I'm nervous about giving them up. After hearing about trouble after surgery...I think it will make it a lot easier.

How I feel about some things...

Well said!! You'll do great! I understand about being gunshy too...and have already been ridiculed. I will say this...those people need to learn not to throw stones through glass houses ( as do we all occasionally). Good luck to you...I'm being banded in May!

    morning or evening?

The couple of times I did make it out of bed...I just felt fantastic. I kept a promise to myself and no matter what the rest of the day brings, I started with success.

    Before and After Pictures

    Uhmmmm WOW!! You look amazing
  11. I so get you!! I have been told I'm a big girl all my life. Now...just so you know...I used to be that height and weight exactly and you are now my goal weight. I'm currently 309 and my goal weight is 159! I can't wait for that space between my legs. About being the biggest girl in the room? Strap some 3" size 10 pumps on and strut your stuff...you're gorgeous!!

    Success feels like cheating

My doctor said it best the other day. I used to feel that healthy looking people were born that way and stayed that way with no work. He stated that obese people often do feel that way...they are now learning that the veges nerve reacts differently with the obese and the way it signals the brain. He told me that the band simply puts me in the same playing field as those I used to think didn't have to work at it. You decide what you want to tell people. I think the best way to respond to those who say you look great is thank you and leave it at that. If they ask how...well however you choose to respond is up to you. I've thought about this a lot. I haven't been banded yet...but I've already told a number of people that I'm going to. They can do with that what they will...if I'm healthy and look fantastic in my own eyes then that's all that matters. If people start in on me...I simply state that I made the decision after hours and hours of research and I don't want to hear anything negative. They normally give me a good luck after that...I note that the people who give me a hard time normally have some weight to lose themselves. Hard work is hard work...unless my doctor decides to have Hermione Granger and Harry Potter assist in the surgery this is all going to be me! I can't wait to look like the real me.

Well I guess the good news is that I have two cats to blame. The bad news is that I live alone so I'll stink myself out of my house. Better load up on scented candles. Perhaps they sell fire extinguisher sized air fresheners? Honesty is refreshing...at least I'll know what to expect in May!

    Introduction

I had to fly to Arizona recently for a medical emergency in the family...my dad had a small stroke and then required a triple bypass surgery. I had to ask for a seatbelt extension on the plane for the first time ever. I spoke to my mom and oldest brother about the surgery while there and I think that this was a huge wake up call for my family. My Dad has done very well and is already resting comfortably at home. I thank my lucky stars for this second chance!!

New to the Lap Band Family!

My Dad just had triple bypass surgery and is diabetic. This has cemented my decision. I can't wait to be healthy!! My Dad is doing very well and I'm thankful for this opportunity. I'm so sick of playing Russian Roulette with my body and hoping that it continues to function.
  17. Some of the reasons I chose the band over other options are: 1. Less invasive 2. UP to 15% muscle mass loss instead of up to 30% loss in the other methods. 3. The same loss as other methods after 3 years post op. These questions were answered by my doctor who performs all three types of surgeries, sleeve, bypass and lapband. Do your research...and make the best decision for you. I'm in Canada and the only type of surgery covered here is bypass. I'm willing to pay the 16,000 out of pocket instead myself. Good luck. You will also hear every reason why you shouldn't do it from people that are trying to be helpful but have no idea what you're going through and also have never done any research. The people on here have been wonderful. They will all recommend that you stick with ideas and comments from those that have the knowledge...like your doctor and nutrition counselor. I wish you every success! My band date is May 7, 2013.

    Pant Sizes

I am going into surgery in May. I am just over 5'9" and weigh 309. Currently wearing size 24 pants and 3x shirts. I will say that there are times these sizes are WAY too small and other times I'm swimming in them. I wish there were standard sizes.
