  1. I am sitting at the hospital waiting for the band removal. It has been in for two years and I have lost all the weight. It has been a fantastic experience to be really slim and I am just wondering if there are any people out there who had the band removed and stayed slim.

  2. Thank you all for your kind support, I am in South Africa and although my surgeon was good we do not have the same support and after care like in the U.S. No fluro fills or anything and the doctor is seven hours away but I was surprised and horrified that he did not send me for x-Ray and I only want the band out as a last resort as I had to pay for it myself and same to take it out. True fully I adore being slim and would put up with some problems but at the moment I am very scared. Your support today has meant the world to me. Is there anyone who can suggest what would stop me being sick.

  3. In one way I am a band success story. From having the band fitted in 2013 I started losing weight and never stopped went from 220lbs to 110lbs inside the year with very little problems. Then the band became tight, the heartburn started and the reflux unbearable when I got to the docs office I weighed only 106lbs ( I am short, only about 5ft 2ins) but he took a look a me and said complete unfill and if that doesn't work then out with your band. I went home a slowly got better, I put on weight to 114lbs, I could eat better and then I even dropped the reflux tablets. That was all in Feb 2015 and now even with the complete unfill all the symptoms are back and I am devastated. WHAT NOW FOLKS??? I don't want this band out but I am afraid for my health. Can nerves do this to a person?

  4. Please go see your doctor and ask if you need some fill taken out. You should be able to eat fruit...you should be able to eat almost anything. I think you are likely too tight.

Thanks Gowalking, I just had a complete unfill last Friday so I am hoping after all settles to be able to eat more normally.

  5. Does the green zone mean success? Though I can identify with many of the things above

    Changed eating habits

No longer buy the "goodies" from the grocery score

    Not interested in restaurant menu

Only interested in food when I bored or think I should be eating

I have even lost all my weight from 220lbs to 107lbs to be honest I am really skinny, I love clothes, I would not change having the band, but it is no picnic and I face daily challenges so I would add a word of caution the green zone does not always mean success for me. I am two years out and still struggling and learning.

  6. Ever since I had my complete unfill the acid reflux and throwing up went away! I can eat a whole cow with no problem, no problems getting anything down or chugging Water. Some say a slip can fix itself and some say it can't :( so upsetting :( I'm going Sunday for my cat scan so hopefully the doc can see my band more clear and see what's going on :/

Please could you tell me after the unfill how long did it take for acid reflux to go away?

  7. I am very desperate and seeking advice all over the place, but just came across this forum and see many peeps experiencing all my problems with severe acid reflux. I had a complete unfill yesterday but the avid reflux is still there and my chest is so painful and I have this weak cough that sounds like a death rattle. How long before the unfill kicks in and I feel normal?

  8. I have had the band two years and lost a lot of weight. About a week ago I started to pick up problems couldn't even keep Water down. Went to my surgeon yesterday he did a complete unfill. I also have what I can only describe as a terrible chest infection, I was a bit surprised as the doctor seemed to think this was related, I expected to wake up this morning feeling great, well this has not happened. Can anyone tell me am I expecting to much? Will the coughing go away now? How long till I feel good again. The surgeon also said if no improvement the band will have to come out. I would hate that, but I can't stand feeling this ill.

  9. What can you guys recommend for severe heartburn. I am at goal weight, in the green zone I think, not a particular good eater (I confess) but generally happy with my lot. I also have 4cc in a 10cc band. My problem is I a suffering with this heart burn.

  10. I know some people will slag me and perhaps I will deserve it. I have had great weight loss success with the band (had it done 21.3.2013). Lost all my weight from 220lbs down to 116lbs and I love my new figure and love buying clothes but I feel like I have never been in the 'green zone' not once. I am either too tight or too loose and I continue to visit the doctor to either have fill/u fill. I wat this body and it is worth it but I still wish for a normal relationship with food and I don't have that.

  11. Oh my computer double posted a topic that I made lol. And actually I haven't lost any weight, my ticket looks like I did, but actually my current weight is the higher weight. I've gained +30 since surgery

wow I have never heard anyone gaining >30 lbs you must be so angry!!!!

  12. I know exactly how you feel, I'm in the same boat. I don't want to lose more, but it just happens and I tell myself I can eat what I want when I really can't and tend to over do it. That's when I will "un-eat",but I can't keep doing that. I don't want an unfill either so I will just eat less, smaller bites and drink Protein Shakes. Not sure I was helpful, but you are not alone. dde09

it does help, thank you so much. My husband who is normally very helpful and has been my rock thinks I "un- eat" (just love the way you put that) on purpose but that is just not true. Thanks once again.

  13. You know I mean "overeating". I'm half awake here!

i would say not overheating based on the premise that I lost close on 100lbs. However, I think you do have a mind change when the weight has gone. With me it goes a bit like oh I am normal now, I should be able to eat and drink what I want.

  14. I had a dream journey with the band, no surgery problems and my weight loss was text book. However, a year on and I don't know what to do. Except for Breakfast which is. Usually porridge topped with yoghurt and seeds everything else I eat seems to come back. I would say not everything because I am only losing weight weight (and believe me I don't want to lose more) very slowly 5lbs since Christmas. I went back to the surgeon and he took 1cc out it made no difference. I am afraid to take out more because I don't want to put weight on either, and I am not even convinced that this is not my fault. I ask myself did I eat the wrong thing, did I eat too fast? Is it my fault? I can't even manage a starter at a restaurant and alcohol is completely out. Should I just try to live with this, I don't want to be fat again, I am so happy with my body lose skin and all.

  15. Just a quick question I'm wondering about. Since being banded, have you had to change the way you drink liquid, or do you drink like you did before? Since my last fill I have to take small sips of Water, instead of the great big giant ones I usually take. Just wondering if anyone else had to change their sip size. Thanks!

small sips only for me, no big glugs of water? Drinking and eating together are out. Still I am the right size and so a small price to pay.
