I'm a year and a half out from banding and had started putting a bit of weight back on during this past winter. When all my new clothes started feeling snug I began to panic!!
I did just what was mentioned above. I went back to basics. Protein shakes, MyFitnessPal, walking etc and the weight came right back off. I'm now pushing for that last 20 lbs. Believe me, the 12 lbs I gained was beginning to make me feel bad and now I feel so much better.
We all know what to do and how to do it!! I wish you all the best and keep us posted!

Lettuce always makes me feel restricted. Much prefer Protein over it. I will say, some foods make you feel it more than others.

I eat the Nature Valley (protein) bars too! I've been stuck on the Caramel Salted Nut for a very long time. Love it so much! Great to carry in my purse when I'm out and about!

I love my Ninja too!!

That was my thought too. I was wondering about blood sugar levels. Our diets change so drastically that it could be with all the Protein its dropping too low. Let us know if some carbs help! Best wishes.

I rely on Smooth Move Tea, but this sounds more urgent. Before I had a good routine, I also had several urgent episodes, downright painful and the pharmacy staff said mineral oil. I managed without it and I've not had any other urgent episodes, so I've not used it but my husband said he remembers his Mother using it. Apparently it is foreign to our system and so it wants rid of it. Takes everything else with it! I know its embarrassing but ask the pharmacy staff, or find mineral oil with the Constipation products. So sorry. BTW, I still take stool softeners every night and use the tea when necessary, as well as Fleet. Its a problem that is not going away.

The idea that my body needs time to adjust just hit me when I read that. I gained and stopped myself at 198. Panic set in and lost back to 186 (rather quickly), which is where I always stop and stay! I briefly got down to 181 but it didn't last long. I'm going to relax and just keep doing what I'm doing. I'd like to lose at least 20lbs, but my body seems to like it here, ha!

My motivation is RESULTS! I walk outside at my city's park. Three to four miles, four to five days a week. When I log it on MyFitnessPal and see the calories burned it motivates me. On days that I don't get to go, I feel like a slug! It also keeps my blood sugar low and I need less medication. I regret not doing as much in the beginning as I do now!!!! My legs look outstanding! I hold in my stomach muscles while walking and its firming my lower abdomen. My stamina is off the charts and it give me energy all day!! So many benefits!!! Hard to start, but once its a habit, it is hard to break.

I worried about wrinkles on my face more than anything. After all, it was stretched out and smooth before, LOL!! I'm so pleased! I'm 53 and agree with all the previous posts. I'm so much more mobile and free of so many medications. It's just thrilling! All the best to you!!

My insurance didn't require me losing weight for approval but I did decide on my own to start my pre-op diet sooner than required and lost 20 lbs in 3 weeks. Its something easy to do and with great results! Message me if I can help you further.

I'm 53 and it could not have worked any better for me. I too followed my surgeon's directions to a "T". I was amazed how quickly I lost weight. Best wishes to you!

Adding flavor is what I did, although I used flavored Protein powder as well. I used ff/ss pudding powders (butterscotch, cheese cake, lemon), crystal light (orange is wonderful in vanilla Protein shakes), sugar free syrups, PB2 and natural pb (careful though its loaded with calories). Be creative! I still drink a shake at least once a day to get my protein in. Oh yeah, I also added Dannon Light and Fit flavored Greek yogurt for added protein and sometimes just the plain. The thing about the pudding powder is when mixed along with the ice it makes your shake thick, so if you can't do the thickness, might not work for you. I had fun with this and coming up with different flavors. My current favorite is the unjury strawberry Sorbet with Crystal Light Raspberry lemonade. I make ice cubes with the lemonade too, so that the flavor isn't diluted by the ice. Enjoy!!
Thanks for this info. Can you put all that stuff in it during the pre-op liquid diet phase?
Yep I sure did! I lost over 20 lbs pre-op, too!

Happy you did well and that you no longer need me to chime in, ha! Keep us posted!

I've determined that the best use of my band is to keep me from feeling hunger and it does that for me. I never relied on fills for weight loss and just followed the instructions on diet and exercise from my bariatric center. That worked for me. I've never established a "green zone" that I'm aware of. I was so determined to improve my health that I never looked for a magic spot. I mean no disrespect, I just did the work and it worked. Relying on the band to stop me from eating more is necessary sometimes, but I find when I do that, its too late and I've already eaten too much. Discomfort follows. So I measure and weigh my food. I'm not perfect but I knew I had to do what my band can't do for me. The band does what I need it to do, so I've not gone back for any more fills. I hope you all find what works best for you.
