    Sugar and heart palp

I am also diabetic. I eat around 30 grams of carbs a day. When I eat something high in carbs my body reacts just like yours. This happen to me before I was sleeved as well.

    What is your biggest vice?

I was never able to do pureed foods. yuck. I just chewed very well and went about my day. No issues. To this day I have never thrown up. Thank goodness.
  3. Hi my little buddies, I wanted to update my progress. I am actually doing very well. I crossed my legs for the first time last night since 2004, NSV. I was so proud. Everyone has given many compliments. My kids look at me funny because I don't really look like their mom. I've been exercising since pre-op but at the moment I'm doing Elliptical 40 minutes in the morning and walking 30 during lunch. I was walking 3-4 miles a day and had to slow down due to Achilles tendonitis. Feeling much better with that. I'm eating 3 meals a day with 2 Snacks a day. I try to eat 200 @ meal and 100 @ snack time. I'm eating 20-30 carbs a day and average 800 calories a day. Things I eat: Deli turkey string cheese boiled eggs, love these tuna all meats and fish except chicken, ouch! Usually can only eat 2 oz at a time Hummus salad, ranch dressing green Beans and spinach, etc. SF popsicles and Jello w/SF whipped cream. Yum!!! Hot chocolate, SF Just started eating 1 oz walnuts for a snack I'm only losing about 2 lbs a week now. I can tell my body is readjusting. I have lost a bunch of inches, not sure of total. I know I've lost 10 off waist and 9 off hips. My blood sugars are still amazing and I'm so thankful. I just took my blood sugar after dinner and it was 94. Yahoooooo! I am having one continuous problem though, I constantly have to remind myself to slow down eating. I do get full before I eat my required 3 oz of Protein but it is so hard to slow down my eating. Bad habits sometimes are hard to break. I am working on it though. Another problem is seeing myself as thinner. I don't feel as thin as I am. I now weigh 246, but some days still feel 324. I work hard on this journey and love every minute of it. I, as I'm sure most of you, have always worked hard at slimming down but had always had a force pushing against me. I now know I have a tool that is on my side and we're working together to make my life better. I wish you all the best of luck and would love to encourage anyone that has questions or fears about the sleeve. Please don't hesitate to message me if you need any help. I am far from knowing it all, but would like to help in any way I can.

    9 weeks out tomorrow

louis-I felt pretty good at 28 days. I still had to be careful with what I was eating. I never pureed food though, yuck!!!!! I ate pretty much what I wanted but my choices were pretty mild. I ate lots of refried beans and chili.

    Accountability...

Thank you for sharing you story. I love to hear the good and the bad. I want to learn from others what can happen if you don't stay focused. I'm rooting for you to get back on the straight and narrow path we have to live by.

    2 weeks

I had, and still eat 2 boiled eggs a day. Have never had a problem with them. However, I have heard many times on here that some people do have problems early out. You just have to eat a little and try things for yourself to see how you do.

how to begin at the gym

I started walking for 10 minutes when I began my 1 month preop. I now walk 60-70 minutes a day. I am down 38 lbs since sleeve. 77 total. I believe walking to be the best form of exercise there is. It works all the major muscles of the body. I will, however, start some resistance training at 3 months. Just my opinion.
  10. I just wanted to let everyone know how I just lost 7 lbs in the last 6 days. I have been doing around 60gm of carbs a day, per my doctors orders. I had a stall at 255 for 7 days. I decided to go back to low carb, <30gms a day. Well, I've lost 7.4 lbs in 6 days. I have always been a fan of low carbing. In fact I lost 100 lbs in 2004, went off and gained all back. The major difference this time is I'm eating 5-6 small low carb meals a day and man it is burning my fat off. I always eat a Protein and good carb right after my walk every morning. EX: 1 scrambled egg w/jimmy dean sausage crumbles and 1 roma tomato, peeled because the skin bothers my "peanut". Just wanted to share what is helping me. I would love to hear what you guys think.

    Sleeve july

Oh yes, I've been eating just about anything I want. I still have trouble with chicken though. I'm going to try it in crock pot. I heard it helps break it down better to handle. I still drink 1 shake a day, low carb one. I put 2 strawberries in it. Are you on Myfitnesspal.com? If you are my name is bridges15804, would love to be buddies.

    What's different?

I am 50 and menopausal. I feel I am losing at a great rate. I was also diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 1998. I am now in remission. That feels awesome. I walk every day for an hour. I eat low carb and my sleeve has healed completely, at least it seems that way.

    Sleeve july

The pre-op can be a little hard. Especially the first 3 days. My worst days were 1-3. I ended up having to do a month of pre-op due to surgery being rescheduled. I have to tell you that I thank God that I had to do it. Even though at times was very difficult it taught me how to cope with the fact that my life was going to change forever. I am 8 weeks out today and am happier than ever. I wish you the best of luck. Advice: 1. Drink low sodium chicken or beef stock. That helped me tremendously 2. SF popsicles got me through a lot of tough moments. 3. Plan on a different way of coping with stress and anxiety. Mine was, and still is, walking. I walk all the time. It produces that calming feeling I used to get from eating. 4. Read these forums and get support, daily if you have to. That helped me tremendously. 5. Go to bed early. Get plenty of rest.

Turkey-deli--wonderful, no problems Chicken-oh heck no, ouch-tried 3 times Sirloin-no problems--could only eat an oz ground round-ouch!-first time I ate it was fine-second time, hurts bad Just wanted to see how others are doing with this.

    Recovery after workouts

I'm eating right and exercising, walking, about and hour a day now and I feel awesome. Not sure why your're feeling the way you are. I feel like I'm getting stronger every day. I have minor soreness sometimes but that's normal to me. I hope things get better for you.

    May sleevers results so far!

Have lost 27 lbs since sleeve 05.08.13. Total loss 66. I don't care how slow I lose, as long as I'm not gaining. I feel like a human being again and can not thank the good Lord for his strength.

    Diabetics after the sleeve

Hey fellow diabetics, I have been diabetic since 1995. Before surgery I was on heavy insulin and oral meds. Since surgery I take nothing. My sugars are always normal and I'm sooooooo happy about that. My last A1C was 9.0 and I can't wait to see what it's going to be in July. My problem is I'm so confused on how many carbs to eat now. It has been drilled in my head to not eat more than 40 carbs a day, but my docs guidelines look like much more. I was never sent to a nutritionist and I realize this handicaps me in this area. I had the low carb diet down to a tee. I lost 100 lbs in 2004 and went off 2005 and gained all my weight back. I haven't been able to lose low carb ever since. I heard this can happen because your body learns to hold weight while low carbing. Anyways, who the heck knows anymore. I would just like to hear from people who have lost successfully how many carbs they ate during the weight loss period. I know everyone is different, just wanting some example. Thank you for listening.
