Getting banded on Friday 8/6/04
Janie Jackson replied to cateringqueen's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations...I was banded about three months ago. I had to be on clear liquids for two days before my surgery. After my surgery I could have strained soup and my protein shakes which helped. Having sugar free Dole popcicles were what helped me through the liguid stage...Good luck...Janie -
Janis I was banded on 5-6-04, and have not had a fill yet. I thaught I was getting hungary but finally realized that its really the munchies and that I was adjusting to a new style of eating. I munch on a handful of pistacios two or three times a day and for my sweet munchies I have s.f. popcicles or small York peppermint patties (4 to 8 a day ). And I am still loosing. Not as fast as I was, but thats o.k. Also how often do you weigh? When I was weighing every day my weight would fluctuate up and down by 1 to 3 lbs. Hang in there and drink extra water that helps too. Good luck...Janie

Hello all... Last night when I went to bed I had that framiliar old yuccky feeling. I havent experienced since I was banded. That feeling of having eaten way too much and too much sugar in my body. I can only describe it as yuccky. A bloated full, fat , tired feeling. We celebrated two of our daughters birthdays, One turned 21 and the other turned 30. We had homeade chocolate cake and homeade peach ice cream. plus barbecue and fried chicken. I dont know what came over me. Plus we went to the movies to see the Borne supremecy. There I had buttered popcorn and lemonaide. I hate that feeling and the extra food was not worth it. Even though I ate bad it wasnt anything like I would have done before the band. I have a new resolution to get back on track. I didnot realize how happy I really was just toodling along loosing weight at a pretty even pace. I am also going to start exercising. I know my problems are not that big, and I am worried about Darcy. But I need some encouragement. Please write to me... Thanks so much.... Love Janie

Could this be my gallbladder?
Janie Jackson replied to jenniferh's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That is how my gallbladder acted up! A tight feeling between my breasts and relief with burping. I had to get completly off carbonated drinks and off spicy foods. I know you arent eating now. My attacks were before my banding. Also I got a nervous feeling. Hope you are feeling better...Janie -
Teresa, I am glad to hear from you. Sounds like your life is pretty hectic. Hope all goes well. I had a big weekend eating too much of the wrong foods and have gained one and a half pounds. I have been happy that I have been loosing with out a fill. So this has been a little scary to me. Let us know how you do after you weigh in? I bet your walking did counter act the overeating. Great to hear from you....Janie

92 lbs. and Still Going!
Janie Jackson replied to dadunwoody's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Debra Thanks for all the information. I am 54 years old. You are close to my age. I need to start exercising but I just havent yet. For a while I had such bad knee pain that I really couldnt. But I have no excuse now. Its encouraging to me to hear that you didnt start exercising until six months out, may be there is hope for me yet.I am only three mounths out. Right now I am in the grandmother business. I have three grandbabies from three diffrent daughters all under seventeen months old. I havent a good reason to be depressed but I am somewhat. I think it is band related. Did you experience any depression in the beginning? Again congratulations your story is great...Thanks Janie -
92 lbs. and Still Going!
Janie Jackson replied to dadunwoody's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Debra Thanks for the encouraging post. I would really like to know more about you , How many fills and what you eat your exercise, and so on. And more of you personally. I love hearing great success stories. You seem to have a great attitude also. I was banded on 5-6-04 and have lost about 34 lbs. I have not had a fill as of yet. Was hoping to be one of those few people who never had to have a fill, because I am deathly afraid of not being able to swollow. Welcome to our board and congratulations on your weightloss... Please tell us more...Thanks Janie -
Hey Alex your pictures are great. I love seeing your sweet little girls too. It reminds me of when my little girls were little. But now I get little grandkids. I have to admit I miss your sweet little head tilted picture of you and your daughter, that was under your name . This one is cute too but it comes out kinda of dark on my computer. Guess I am not used to it yet. Thanks for sharing and every thing.....Janie

I am so glad you have called the Doctor. This could be something not even band related. I hope all goes well and that you feel better soon...Janie

I had a calorie and fat eating weekend. We celebrated two of our daughters birthdays. So I have had too much birthday cake and homemade ice cream this weekend and the scales showed it this morning. I am up one and a half pounds, but I am going to get off in a couple of days. I weighed 213.5. Last monday was 212. I was banded on 5-6-04 with a starting weight of 248. Best of luck to everyone...Janie

The only fruits I get lately are the ones I cut up into my tuna salad. And maybe a few greenbeans here and there. I really need to eat more. It would probably help with my constipation too. Keep up the good work and dont worry...Janie

Lisa I am so sorry I completly got off your original post. I feel like I live in the funny farm also. I bring a lot on myself. Although we are somewhat struggeling finically because my business has really slowed down. But my husband has a boat we never use, trailer we never use , a work pickup we never use, he is on a deer lease that he uses one time a year, (we both do not eat deer meat), He drives 2003 Dodge Ram,(I drive a 1996 Ford ranger work truck). Well I could go on but I wont. I really love him but it seems to me if we would sell a few things life would be better. I guess its true about boys (men) with their toys. I think you have a great attidue. If you cant fight them join them. I enjoyed your pictures, you are so cute...Best of luck...Janie

Hey Teresa Ive been wondering about you also. Been missing hearing from you. I feel like we are in the same boat. I was banded on 5-6-04, and have not had a fill yet, yet I have steadily lost weight. But this weekend just went out the window eating properly. My scales show a 2 lb weight gain, so I am trying desperatly to get back on track. Keep in touch...Janie

Howady from the beautiful state of Texas !!!
Janie Jackson replied to a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi... This is confusing to me. If you posted this in January or Feburary, then why is it just now showing up on my computer. If you are 17 days out . It seems like that was about 6 or 7 months ago. I would love to know how you are doing now? Or was there an error in your banding dates? Or maybe its just a problem with me? Thats allways possible. Lisa is not the only one living in the funny farm! Please let me know whats going on, soon... Thanks Janie -
HI. i AM SORRY YOU ARE EXPERINCING SOME PAIN. I had pains off ond on for weeks. Are you having to give yourself shots in the belly? I think I got extra pains from the shots. I still have occasional pains around my port.I was banded on 5-6-04. I hope everything will fell better soon! ... Janie

Its the one addiction that you must partake of some to survive. I feel like I am getting to know you and I reaklly do like you. I am excited that you are joining us in bandland.. Keep posting ... Congratulations... Your post was very inspirational. It was just what I needed to hear. I have to agree with Lisa about keeping a journal of my food intake. I just cant do that. I have experinced some depression but I think its just normal now that I am learning a new eating lifestyle. I was banded on 5-6-04 ( dont know how many weeks that is.) but I have lost 35lbs. Its kinda fun, my neighbor calls me skinny now. So does my sister. Thanks so much for your post... Janie

Hi Mack. I have only had my band a few months so I could not tell you much. But it could be that your acid reflux is totally not band related. Please give us more information about your self like how much weight you have lost and what you eat. Best wishes to you... Janie

Suz... I really advise you to go for the lapband. I know of a lady who had the RNY and has gained all her weight back and more. Also my sister had RNY and is gaining her weight back. She is allways trying to go on a diet and is really struggeling with it. Her surgery was 2 years ago. Also on one of the other posts there is a RNY memorial page. I could not bring my self to look at it. I have had my lap band since 5-6-04 and I have lost 36lbs. I have not thrown up once and I eat brownies every once in a while.. I wish you the best of luck...
