  1. I am 6 days post op. I am going by the sheet I was given by my doctor's surgical nurse. I was suppose to have a 5 day post op appointment with my doctors nurse but I've yet to get ahold of her. I'm not quite sure what to think of all that. Right now I'm sort of just doing the best I can with what they have given me. I kind of feel a little lost at the moment. I don't have a lot of direction at the moment and I'm just sort of doing what I feel my body is capable of and what they listed on their 5-15 day food phase. There is no mention of weighing anything, it only lists what type of food to eat while in the phase. I am tracking total amount of protein intake and calories and of course my Water intake. Until someone from my doctors office tells me otherwise I don't really know what else to do. I'm being as careful as I can. I wish I had a little more verbal guidance right now but I don't. I'm working with the documentation my clinic provided me and doing what I can. I am going to call tomorrow and find out when I can expect my first follow up visit to be from the surgery. A little counseling would be nice. Thank you all for the advice, I really do appreciate it. This board has helped me a lot since getting banded. There is vast knowledge here

Why can't I start a new paragraph in my comments?

I just have a laptop. As you said, hitting enter does nothing for me either.

    Sleeping in bed?

I too was banded on 1/31/13. Slept in my bed the night of surgery. I am a side sleeper predominantly but since getting the band I've been on my back like a turtle in bed. Lucky for me after the first night I was able to lay flat but even on day 5 it's not comfortable for me to sleep on my sides yet. I can lay on them for a few minutes but then I have to get off them. It's a 50/50 thing on my part I think. Part discomfort (not so much pain) and part mental block telling me hey yahoo...you just had surgery 5 days ago, stop putting that kind of stress on those incisions by laying on your side, do you want to tear one of them open???? So 5-15 minutes later I am back on my back
  4. Thanks everyone. I should have known yesterday was too good to be true with no pain from the surgery lol. Today isn't too bad though. The pain in manageable and I've only hit the liquid pain meds the surgical center gave me once so far today. I am glad I took some time off from work though instead of going back on Monday. I think I'd of been sort of miserable at my job and not got much accomplished. I went ahead and took this upcoming week off. Been wanting to get some stuff around the house done so I figured now was a good time to take off. Anyways...my doctor doesn't seem to be as strict as some as yours. It's funny how the diets vary from doctor to doctor. Of course I am on a liquids only diet however I am not on clear liquids. In addition to my water, broth, jello and popsicles I can have my protein shake, skim milk, and sugar free cool whip to go with my jello if I want. After day 5 I move up to pureed soups and baby food consistency and I stay there for about 2 weeks till I start introducing somewhat solid food. My hunger is well managed but I think that is due to my protein shakes, I do fell sorry for the folks out there who are still doing the clear liquid diet only.

    get my band jan.31 2013

I'll be joining the 31st club to it seems. My lap band surgery is scheduled for January 31st and I'm excited. The pre-op diet sorta sucks but it's a short roadblock to get past.
