    Best and worst "compliments"

I am 7 1/2 weeks out. 60 + pounds from my high weight, this time last year. I have not told everyone. Especially my mother. When I was down 27 pounds........She said I looked like I had gained....... When I was down 50 pounds she noticed " something" I told her I had a thyroid tumor that had caused a weight loss. ( I did have a tumor--- had it removed) Now she keeps asking how much I have gained. Going to see her on Thanksgiving. " does this shirt make me look fat?" I grew a beard and am cutting my hair shorter. I tell people that is the change they are seeing. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone----- except You Canadians. Remember to eat all the right things for your stage.
  2. How you doing Lyn. Take all the meds they offer.

    October Sleevers - Men's Room

Seven and a half weeks out. Just ate almost a cup of chilli. Loved it. Could not get a full cup down . That's ok. Seeing doctor on Monday.
  4. You sound great. Off HBO and diabetes meds is huge. Everyone is different. I had heard about gas pains. I asked my doctor about it. He acted like he never heard about it. He sad don't worry about it... And I never had gas pains. IM sitting here aging some herbal tea now. Thank you or the idea. Continued recovery.
  5. I'm 7 weeks out. Learning what I can & cannot eat, ... Mostly how fast / slow I can / should eat. It's been pretty easy. Last week I had an other unrelated surgery. Was constipated afterwards. That was the worst of it.
  6. Scorpion , you are a week out. How you doing?

Russ How did the chilli go? I am 6 weeks out and about 3 oz is all I can handle. My assignment is to try to get to 6 oz of Protein per meal.
  8. Hang in there Lyn. This was the best thing I ever did for my self.
  9. I am 6 weeks out. Down 19 lbs since VSG. Trying to get to 20. I am not understanding my assignments. Meeting with Nut on Monday. Trying to get it right before thanksgiving. I am supposed to be in purée or mush stage. But there are no puréed on the sample Menus they gave me. Just doing common sense things.
  10. I do not miss food. I feel freedom from food. I eat what I need or want( with boundaries )
  11. Yeah, there were a couple of days where I gained a pound or two, but then I figured out that I needed to keep up with the Miralax, and then I'd drop what I'd gained the next day. Constipation's no joke! I'm anticipating the dreaded "third week stall", but I'm ramping up my protein and fluid and hopefully, I won't stall at all. I'm buying Miralax on my way home tonight!!! I need it anyway. I only go once a week since this surgery and that's with MOM when I used to go daily preop. It is NO JOKE!!I was constipatedThursday and Friday. NO JOKE,!
  12. Kj I noticed I have felt cold since sleeve. I have asked my case nurse, she said ". Well you just lost a layer of blubber" But I hear it a lot on here. I think there is a body thermostat thing that needs to adjust to weight loss.
  13. Hi all. Sleeved 10/3. 6 weeks ago Hw 285 1/1/13 Lw 227 11/11 Cw 229 Been on soft proteins 2 weeks- Had a surgery 11/12 Tuesday (5 1/2 weeks out)---- NOT related to. Sleeve. Had not had a BM in almost a week prior to that. Was soooooo constipated 3-4 days later. 3 days of Miralax finally got me going. I never want to go through that again. My system is still screwed up. I have eaten practically nothing for 2 days. ( don't miss food at all) Starting at ground zero tomorrow. Clear liquids, then protein shakes... Then some mush...... Making sure I get my fiber from protein stakes.

    My dilemma

I was a 41 bmi, with co morbitities., they discovered sleep apnea in Pre op testing.. I had been overweight for 30 years. My insurance company required a 6 month program. That was fine. I lost 30 pounds on the 6 month program. The best part if the program was it got me in the groove. I was living and eating as if I was sleeved. I originally wanted a lap band, but, after research I decided to go VSG. I heard too many bands had to be replaced. ( one guy had it done 7 times) Also I liked the VSG because it was permanent. Check with another doctor. And try to live the postoperative life.

Ok so I have not told my mother.. She loves to gossip about people's weight. When I was Pre-op and had already lost 27 pounds. She was telling me about everyone that had gained weight..... I said its not nice to talk about people... Especially to tell them to their face they have gained. She insisted it was OK if it was the truth. Then she told me I had gained. I shot back at her ... bTW I am DOWN 27 pounds. She had to admit it. I am now 6 weeks post op and down 60 pounds. I told her I have a thyroid condition that causes me to lose weight. <wink>
  17. Scorpion, How you doing?
  18. I am 6 weeks out. I find my lack of interest in food a new kind of freedom. I cannot eat everything. I do not want to eat everything. I still cook for. My wife and friends. A few bites and I am done. The weight is falling off! FREEDOM

    Nicest Thing Said To You?

I like to say the bit@h of it is " nobody notices the first 50 pounds you lose" When I had lost 55 pounds a friend said to me...... No body notices because you look normal, like you used to. Normal, like you should look. I guess that is the best thing someone can say. We all just want to be healthy and normal looking.
  23. Scorpion: Relax. I had a doubt sitting in Pre-op room. It only lased a few mins. I an 5 weeks post op. it was the best thing I ever did. A life changer. You will be fine. Good luck 11/15!
