  1. I agree that you need to get in to see your doctor. I know exactly how you are feeling right now. My surgery was a year ago too and I feel like I am eating a little more. I have been at the same weight for about 4 months and getting frustrated. The office did a barium swallow and my pouch is very slightly dilated. They didn't take out any Fluid, but put me on 2 shakes a day and then one meal to try and get it to shrink down a little without taking out Fluid. I am trying so hard to stick to the shakes and get back on track. Maybe your issue is as simple as mine. Just stay positive and get into the doctor. We didn't go through all of this just to throw in the towel a year later. Good luck!!

  2. I feel you! I'm also a traveling sales girl. I usually do Protein Shakes in the morning. I also try and find a grocery store and a room with a mini fridge. You'll adjust. I had so much bad food out of town. I also thought it didn't count if I wasn't at home, lol. Could be part of the reason I gained so much weight. It's been so eye opening counting calories and watching what I put in my body.

  3. Port talk!

New here an I don't know if I'm posting this right..?

I'm 6 weeks and 1 day post op

4cc's in my band and I have NO restriction is that normal?

And is it normal for your port to have moved upward? It used to be under my incision and now it's above!

    Thank for the help!

I would post a new thread if you want participation, apparently it's called hi-jacking a thread if you post off subject and want a response, lol. Some veterans will tear you apart, I've seen it. Haha

I am fairly new, so I haven't experienced your situation, but I'm sure others have. Good luck.

  4. Hey we're band buddies! I was banded the same day and I've had two fills. Like you I was super nervous, but seriously it's nothing! It doesn't even feel like getting a fly shot or blood drawn. You will laugh at how nervous you were after it's done. :-). It felt a little weird and I was extra cautious the first time I ate after each time. I haven't gotten stuck yet and I keep thinking its bound to happen after a fill. My doc has me do 1 day liquids then 1 day soft food after a fill. Good luck! Let me know how it goes.

  5. Hello all. Has anyone had any problems with their facial skin since starting their pre op diet. I've only been on it two days but I've been on 1000 calories for four weeks in the v run up. It's all blotchy and lifeless?

I didn't have problems, but I would up your Water intake and make sure you're taking a Multivitamin. You're not get all the nutrients you need at this point. This should help restore your skin.

  6. I too an allergic to adhesive, unfortunately found this out after an epidural... By far the worst part of giving birth. So my doc used surgical glue for my sutures... Guess what? Allergic to that too. They had me take Benedryl by mouth and topically for a few days and the problem went away. I feel your pain.

Hope it gets better quick for you.

  7. I had my surgery on Tuesday and was doing light duty by Friday. Three weeks out I was shooting (photographer) which requires lifting about 50 pounds consistently. I know everyone is different, but I had very little pain or discomfort.

    Best of luck to you!

  8. Congrats everyone! February is over and we should all be on the banded side now. Im interested in how everyone is doing? How are your spirits? Accomplishments? Struggles?

As for me, I was banded on the 5th and didn't struggle much with surgery. I had a small allergic reaction to the glue, but a little Benedryl took care of it. I'm excited because all my clothes are getting big. As far as the scale goes I'm only down 25 pounds, I know I should be trilled, 14 off it was pre-op. I just started struggling with hunger a little... I was hoping I would be one of the lucky ones who was in the green immediately... Haha. I'm struggling to chew chew chew and I know my bites are too big. However, I've been pretty darn good at sticking to the correct portions. I have my first fill appointment on Tuesday and truth be told I'm a little nervous, although I know it's nothing compared to surgery. That's about it for now, I'm sure I could go on and on... Lol

Your turn! I'm excited to hear how each of y'all (yes, I'm from Texas) are doing!!!

  9. I had the surgery on 2/5/13. I feel great but am tired in the evenings. I am frustrated because I haven't lost much. Any advice?

We're band buddies! I've been following the 1/2 cup 3 times a day and not snacking. I haven't been hungry much thankfully. I've only lost 7-8 pounds post surgery and go in for a fill (maybe) next Tuesday. I'm a little frustrated too, but I've read it isn't a quick fix and the first few weeks are just for healing. Let's just keep our heads up! We can do this!

  10. I think you're asking if you band was filled during surgery, right? If so, then yes I had about 5-6cc put in my 14cc band when I was banded. From what I understand it depends on teheran doctor and your anatomy. I'm 3 weeks out and haven't been hungry like most post on here. But everyone is different, your doctor will know best.

  11. I'm like Missy, my girls are 9&10. I told them that I wanted to be able to have more quality time with them and ride rollercoasters and stuff. I downplayed the surgery a little as to not scare them, but at the same time made sure they knew how much I love the,. I saw one poster once had written out just on case letters for her children. I may have done that if I would have thought about it. The surgery itself is pretty safe as far as surgeries go. The eating takes some getting used to, but we're all adjusting.

    Good luck to you!

  12. I went through the exact same thing with TR. I didn't have much reflux and heartburn so I was really nervous that I wouldn't have a hiatal hernia. Thankfully I had a small one, so I am paying the 5500.00. They told me about 97% of the time a small herna is present, so try not to stress too much. In fact they even scheduled my surgery date before confirming the presence of the hernia. I did the EGD one week prior t being banded. I was banded earlier this month on the 5th. :-) I too had some guilt about wanting to have a hernia, just seems wrong... Lol

Best of luck, keep us informed

  13. I am recently banded and I would like some new ideas on what you and your other do on date nights now. A sit down dinner has pretty much always been the norm for us and I'm working to get my mind off food as fun. He's never really liked it anyway because he thinks it's throwing money away, but he's done it for me. Now when he asks what are we doing tonight I am at a loss. We usually end up just stating home and having a Redbox night, but I need to get out of the house!
