  1. I'm like Missy, my girls are 9&10. I told them that I wanted to be able to have more quality time with them and ride rollercoasters and stuff. I downplayed the surgery a little as to not scare them, but at the same time made sure they knew how much I love the,. I saw one poster once had written out just on case letters for her children. I may have done that if I would have thought about it. The surgery itself is pretty safe as far as surgeries go. The eating takes some getting used to, but we're all adjusting. Good luck to you! EGD/Hiatal Hernia/Exclusion on Aetna

I went through the exact same thing with TR. I didn't have much reflux and heartburn so I was really nervous that I wouldn't have a hiatal hernia. Thankfully I had a small one, so I am paying the 5500.00. They told me about 97% of the time a small herna is present, so try not to stress too much. In fact they even scheduled my surgery date before confirming the presence of the hernia. I did the EGD one week prior t being banded. I was banded earlier this month on the 5th. :-) I too had some guilt about wanting to have a hernia, just seems wrong... Lol Best of luck, keep us informed Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk

    Date Nights :-)

I am recently banded and I would like some new ideas on what you and your other do on date nights now. A sit down dinner has pretty much always been the norm for us and I'm working to get my mind off food as fun. He's never really liked it anyway because he thinks it's throwing money away, but he's done it for me. Now when he asks what are we doing tonight I am at a loss. We usually end up just stating home and having a Redbox night, but I need to get out of the house! Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  5. Try not to be so hard on him. I know it's not easy but truth be told most people who haven't battled obesity are clueless the physical and emotional toll it plays in our life. My dh (devoted husband, was what I thought it stood for, lol) is all muscly and has a 6 pack and he is certainly clueless. However he went the opposite as yours and was telling me he loved me the way I am, I could tell the money it is costing was a huge hang up for him as well. We have to pay 5500.00 out of pocket. He made me second guess myself more than a couple times. However I knew that once I lost a few pounds he would enjoy the benefits as well. I'm only 2 1/2 weeks post op and down about 25 pounds and already feel better about myself and he can see the difference. Now he's starting to get excited. It sounds like your hubby is trying to go the opposite route and be optimistic and excited for you. But I'm sure he loves you the way you are now too! After all, he's been by your side through your journey so far, right? :-) Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk

    Just banded 2/12/13

It really depends on your dr. I had my surgery 2/5 and I'm already on full solids. It was 5 days liquids, 5 days full liquids, 5 days soft/mushies and then day 16 a regular diet. From what I see here it varies greatly from doctor to doctor. Good luck, I hope you're doing well. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk

    San Antonio!

I had surgery with Dr.Carcamo and true results on Feb 5th. So far everying is going well, I have lost about 22 pounds since my pre-op diet. I would love to meet some more friends here! I went to support group meeting with TR, but there were only 3 of us there. I was slightly disappointed. I hope everyone else is doing great! Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk

    Post Op Food Phases?

Mine seems so lax compared to everyone else. 5 days clear liquids and shakes, 5 days full liquids, 5 days soft foods then onto solids. I'm day 11 right now so I had shredded chicken for lunch and it was so good! Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  10. I too wanted to keep it a secret, but some needed to know I was having surgery so I told them I was having a hiatal hernia repaired. It's in the same location and many times needs to be repaired at the same time. I did have one, so I didn't feel like I was lying. I've told a few more people than I planned, but selected only those who I knew would support me. Good luck! Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk

    5 days post op!

I'm 8 days post op! My back feels a little off too, but I think it's just from "protecting" the belly and incisions. I'm not sure about you, but I know I've been laying at different angles and such. I'm sure it will work back into place as we get back to our normal routine. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk

    Any February 2013 Bandsters?

I'm 6 days post op and a side sleeper too. It was day 4 when I felt comfortable enough to sleep on my side again. I put a thin pillow under my under to keep it from leaning so much, it made a big difference. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk

    my journey!

Don't worry it gets better! I was banded on the 5th and am already feeling tremendously better. I really think getting out of the house even just to go to the store makes a world of difference. Today I started my full liquids, I have to say roasted tomato bisque never tasted so good. I'm still only taking in a little at a time, like 4 oz and I'm full. Not complaining though, it's why we dd this, right :-). I hope you healing goes smoothly! Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk

I'm losing weight because I want to....

I want to be able to keep up with my 9 & 10 year old little girls. I want to join them at the park instead of watch from the sidelines. I want to ride roller coasters and not wonder if the bar is going to lock into place. I just want to live again! Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk

    Feb 5, 6, 7 surgeries!!

Hey there! Missed this thread. Groups on this site aren't easily navigated for me. So far so good. I had minimal gas pain. I'm on a shake and liquid diet. The shakes and broth are going well, but I've struggled with the Jello both times I've tried it. How's everyone else doing? Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk

    Any February 2013 Bandsters?

I know exactly how you feel... I was banded yesterday and Monday I started freaking out. I'm usually a strong person, but I started thinking about my girls and family. I hugged them extra tight and told them how much I love them. I didn't want to freak them out but it needed to be said. I had to remind myself that they were a driving force for me to go through this. I was nervous until the doctor put me to sleep and now I already know I made the best decision! Any February 2013 Bandsters?

Thanks! To me gas pains just make you feel full and tight. I have pain around my shoulders and collar bone. The best way for to describe it is the feeling when you run too much and you get that pain on your side and find it hard to take deep breathes. I've been up and around walking, taking gas-x and using the spirometer they gave me. All of those things make it better. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
