    I'm banded!!!!

That's great! Get lots of rest....you deserve it!
  2. Amy I was scared to death, but I think I was more afraid of what my life would be like if I didn't do it. I'm only three weeks out and I feel physically and emotionally great! You can do this and you will look back on the fear and a necessary evil. It would be unnatural if you weren't afraid. It's surgery! Best of luck

    Great News!

    Congratulations! That's great!
  4. I was banded on 12/31/12 and was sure I would be down 20 pounds the week after surgery, afterall, I'd been on clear liquids and couldn't eat much of anything the week following surgery. I was sooooo disappointed to the point of crying when I discovered I had only lost 6 pounds. My doc says that's normal because of bloating and swelling from the surgery. I'm down 16 now, but have come to the conclusion that I can't live and die by the scale. I can only do what I'm supposed to do and hope the weight will follow. I'm committed to working with this band to reach my goal. My first fill is 1/31/13. Lost of luck with your journey. I'm sure you'll be successful:-)
  5. I thought I would be going through my insurance when I went in for my consultation, but because I had a hiatal hernia (which I'd had for a long time) they were able to do to both. I think I ended up paying $3500 myself for the lap band.
  6. So glad your bubble burst! I have been overweight most of my life, but for some reason I woke up on on Dec. 1, 2012 and decided being fat was no longer an option for me. I was limiting myself in so many areas of my life and I wanted more! Like most, I had been on every diet in the book and would last maybe two weeks. I was banded 12/31/12, so the process was pretty fast, but now I don't think about food all the time. I can look towards the future and know I'm doing everything I can to be a better me. I've only been banded three weeks tomorrow, but I can already tell this is going to be a great tool and 2013 will ROCK!!!! Best of luck to you:-)

    I'd like to re-introduce myself

Thank you for the words of encouragement, KekeBoo:-) I have to admit, he first two weeks after surgery, I was exhausted when I would take just a short walk. I'm a therapist, so unfortunately I sit in a chair much of the day. My staff is starting to make jokes about how much I get up and randomly walk around the inside of the building several times a day now. As soon as the snow melts, my daily walks with my little doggie will increase significantly too.
  8. I was previously registered as Joni700, but something technical went wrong, so I had to re-register. I had my surgery on 12/31/13. So far, doing well. I've lost 16 pounds so far and am trying to move more each day. I can use all of the tips or suggestions you might have. This forum has made the journey much easier. Thank you all. Joni
  9. Gax-X saved me the first week with the gas pains. My should pain didn't come until day 10, and you're right....it is so so uncomfortable! I've read where some people have the shoulder pain on and off, and some have it on a regular basis. That would be difficult to deal with. Hoping it goes away soon for you. It does help to walk:-)
  10. Oh no! I'm so sorry you're going through this. That was my biggest fear that I would be nauseaus following the surgery. I got lucky. I really hope this is something the docs can take care of soon and that the rest of your recovery goes smoothly.
