    August bypassers/sleevers

I got my date today, August 17. It has been a long road for sure. I am a revision from lap band to sleeve.

    I spewed at a restaurant

I have not had the surgery yet. I am scheduled for August 17. I have the lap band and understand not to drink while eating with that but what you guys are talking about is different. Please explain what this is and why it happens.
  3. I am 5'2 and weigh about 170. I currently have the lap band which needs to come out due to many complications. I have an appointment July 18, 2018 with the surgeon to talk about the revision. I think I would like to have the sleeve but am certain due to heartburn when I was pregnant he will recommend the bypass. I am terrified really. I started this journey because I seen my mother who was obese go through so many health issues that were weight related. I just want to be healthy and the thought of either surgery scares me that I will have created issues trying to avoid issues. I almost wish I would have never started. I am 52 years old and pray whatever decision the surgeon recommends is going to the right one.

    TMI - Pooping at work

I am already very shy in the bathroom at work. OMG, I am afraid! I must admit I have been worried about this bathroom issue or not making it to the bathroom.

    Notifying work

I am not telling my work what type of surgery I am having. They all know I have stomach issues such as ulcers so I am just letting them think it is due to that. I am very much an introvert and do not tell my business to others. I completely understand your feelings.

I need to make a decision

I too have to make this decision. My concerns are a bit different. I have the lap band currently and it has to be removed. I am terrified to have either surgery to be honest but I know if I don't I will gain all my weight back. I do not need to loose a bunch of weight anymore but still need to loose about 50 to 60 pounds. I have had acid reflux in the past but only when I was pregnant. I am 51 so no chance of that! The decision is very difficult. I have lost 70 pounds with the lap band.
  7. Hello, getting a revision from a band and am starting to have some questions. For a person who suffers from constipation which revision would be best the sleeve or bypass? Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Personal question

Thank you. In the past I have taken Linzess but have recently been able to get control of this issue with flax seed. I hate to take medication. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Personal question

Thank you berry. I initially was considering the sleeve but have recently decided bypass will probably work best for me. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  11. I have been banded for about 1.5 years with only brain complications not band complications. The band is definitely a behavior modifier and takes time to learn. The band itself works. Learning how to eat with a band is probably what most people consider a complication. I come back to the site for advice and to learn new things. If I could do it over again I would have made the same decision. I have a love/hate relationship with my band but without it I had a hate relationship with myself. I now have learned to love me for who I am and I can accept where I am. Had I done nothing I still would have felt so negative about myself. I am not where I wanted to be but far better than where I was.

    Extreme Abdomen Pain

I have been banded for about 2 years. I too get a stabbing pain in my abdomen. I think it is just gas that has a difficult time escaping. Try taking some gas x or drinking hot Water with lemon or tea. This seems to help along with a heating pad. Hope you feel better.
  13. I agree with B-52. It has taken me a year to figure out that there is just things that I will not be able to eat. Texture is everything.
  14. I have posted about this before and it was suggested I go for an unfill which I did. I have done this cycle 4 times now and we are talking about .5 cc. I get a fill and then it becomes so tight that I cannot eat any solids without getting stuck and sliming. I go in they take out .5. I get to where I can et anything and am hungry all the time so when I see the Doctor he suggests a small fill and here we go again. I literally slime on my coffee in the morning, then I can get some coffee down so I think I can try to eat something I try yogurt and boom..stuck!! I am so frustrated. I then struggle with that for most the day and end up eating a spoonful of something (which I am using a baby spoon) at a time. I then suck on ice cubes the rest of the day so I don't get dehydrated. This last time the very patient and nice lady that gives me the fills and unfill said "don't let me see you come back in next week for an unfill. I know she was just kidding around but it makes me fill like I should not go back in. It has been 3 weeks. I keep thinking because I can keep liquids down for the most part and food gets stuck that it must mean I am doing something wrong. I chew until the food just is almost liquid when I swallow. Any advice???? Please. I know it sounds like I am whining and you know what, I am. I am so tired of this. I love what my band has done for me but when will I get over this type of struggle?
  15. I called and talked with my Doctor this morning and explained exactly what I was going through. He had me go in right away and get a slight unfill. He stated that I was too tight that even when I am at my tightest, such as in the morning, I should never slime on coffee. If fluids are difficult to get down it is time to get in to see him. He told me that I waited far too long to come in. Now I know, thank you Missy and everyone for encouraging me to go in. The did take out .3. I felt better right away. I went back to the office and was able to get an entire cup of tomato soup down, something I had not been able to do for a couple of weeks.
  16. Thank you all. It is always comforting to know you have such a huge support team. I will take all of your advice. I will call the doc today and see what he says.
  17. So sorry for the lines. Not sure why it did that! LOL
  18. Missy thank you for the response. I know you are right I am just so scared she will get frustrated with me and take out more. I will call tomorrow. Thank you.
  19. You are so right but she says she is taking out the smallest possible. I am afraid now if I go in she will take out more. Last time I gained one pound but still it was very frightening to me to gain. I am o confused.
  20. Okay so I understand the no drinking with your meals, or at least I thought I did. What about soup? That is a liquid with food. Also what about fizzy drinks, I understand why not in fact I am not a soda drinker so it is no big deal to me. At least, I thought! I suffer from migraine headaches and all my life I have taken Alka Seltzer. Can you take that? Crazy I know but that is what happens if you think too hard on things. Thank you in advance for the feed back.

    Pancakes

Today I found out that pancakes do not work for me. I was being good and only ordered a single pancake and it nearly killed me. I was stuck for an hour. It felt like a brick was stuck. OMG I will not do that again.

    Where this come from

    Great job. You look amazing!
  23. Typically in Washington we do not have this type of humid weather. Lately I have been extremely tight and my band is irritable. The only thing that has changed is the weather. Do you think it could cause the band to be different? Those of you who either are from Washington and are having the same issue please respond or those of you who live in areas that you have experienced this. Thank you so much.
  24. thats probably it now that you mention it. Thank you. I haven't been getting my water in. I am going to make sure I get back on track.
  25. Thank ladies for the feedback.
