  1. I have to agree with you! If anything we (those who have had the surgery) have to deal with being under the microscope and work harder to lose/maintain than those without the surgery.

    Feb 28th Surgery date

Me too. My surgeon told me to make sure to try to "stretch" not to "strain". So I've been making it a point to attempt side bends (bending from the waist) a couple times a day. The only sight that is bothering me is the main incision from where my stomach was removed.

Dark Urine (5 days post op)

I am also 5 days post op am dealing with the same issue! However, your Fluid intake is WAY better than mine. I'm struggling to get in any. My goal today is to mentally focus in this and get it done. Is watered down Gatorade okay? I've heard if the pedi pops from someone else the other day, but haven't been able to find them anywhere...
  4. I think I'll be able to handle it a bit more when I'm off of the liquid only part of this...
  5. In went today to the grocery store for the first time since surgery.... HOLY CRAP!!! I stood in the bread aisle and just inhaled! Definitely harder than I expected it to be. But... That's how it's going to be... I need to adjust...

    Post op day 3

Brighter days are just around the corner! I had my surgery on Tuesday. I, just lie you, stayed one night at the hospital, had horrible bouts of nausea (except mine had me vomiting and dry heaving the whole time I was in the hospital). I had the morphine plain pump, I would never have touched that stuff if I would have known how much it would contribute to my nausea. Every time I sat up, or got out of bed, I vomited. They gave me an abdominal binder which helped a TON! I Ha an 1 1/2 hr car ride home, no nausea meds. I just remember closing my eyes and praying that I could make it home without vomiting. I did. Literally. As soon as my daughter opened my car door, I was face first into my vomit bag. Of course nothing but foam was coming out anytime I would vomit. Thy have me Tylonal with codeine for my pain. I downed some of that and chewed up a simethicone tablet (for the gas). I pretty much decided to camp out on the couch for now. I tried laying in my bed and it was just too flat for comfort. I will tell you the first morning that I woke up at home, I felt better. The nausea was gone. Gas pains still linger and my abdomen is sore but nothing too bad. Hang in there! It DOES get better.
  8. I buy the premix shakes. It's not so much the smell that is getting me, it's the consistency of the shake. I just ordered some unjury unflavored samples and some syntrax sample packs of different flavors. I'll find something that is going to work!
  9. I'm sorry, I guess mentioning that I'm fresh out from surgery would have helped in this conversation! I honesty believe that I will be fine getting my protein intake in once I'm able to have soft foods and so forth, it's this liquid stage with my senses being out of wack that us getting the best of me. Things that tasted good prior to surgery, now taste bad to me. Same with smell. It's off. I have made sure to keep my Protein Shake chilled, and I drink it over ice. It's not "frozen cold" but it's cold enough to tolerate. I couldn't imagine trying to drink them at room temp. Yikes!

    Gas!

Same here! I have it trapped in my abdomen and my upper back... Feels like I need to be burped. Ha!
  11. I had my surgery on the 26th, and I'm noticing that my sense of smell has gone wild! Am I alone in this? Everything the people eat around me makes me want to vomit. Smelling things that never bothered me before now makes me in edge. Is this a side effect of the surgery? It is this just me being crazy???
  12. Ha! I am so glad to hear that I am not alone with this issue. I don't understand how it can effect our sense of smell, but it definitely has taken its toll. My husband went to the vending machine in the hospital, and came back to my room with a bad of Funions and a soda. I told him that if he was going to eat this chips, he was going to have to do it fast! Sure enough, as soon as he opened the bag it was instant nausea for me.

    Pre-Op Appointment...

Thank you! Surgery went great. Now I just need to get all of the gases out of my system and I will be doing great. Had minimal pain after surgery, but horrible nausea. I couldn't get up without vomiting. I would walk the hallways of the hospital at night have to make out stops at every garbage can along with way. I think this nausea was partially from the Morohine and partial from the gases. I only took a dose or two of Morohine as then figured that I would rather deal with pain than vomiting... Needless to say it didn't make a huge difference. Vomiting continued well until I was home and resting.
  15. OMG! My surgery is tomorrow morning! I am so very excited to get this show on the road! I'm having the normal "day before" fears, but I think I'm good to go. I've been blessed with such a great support team to be me this far.
