  1. Congrats to your sister on her first 5k! You guys are awesome, a real inspiration!
  2. The office in Dayton. I will be meeting with Dr Curry, doing the psych evaluation (fun), and the dietician. Excited to get this process going!
  3. Cool! I'm really in Centerville. Just say Dayton because most people from Cincy have never heard of Centerville Lol
  4. Dayton, Ohio here. I am pre-op and have my consultation on Friday March 1st with Dr Curry. Hoping to have the surgery in May! Good to see people from Ohio here!
  5. No advice here as I'm pre-op but I just wanted to say I'm a Social Work major in college right now! Good luck with going back to work and with your band!
  6. That was awesome! Lol
  7. It makes me mad what COWARDS will say to people through a computer screen. Also, most young guys who would be on a site like that are D-bags anyway! As a girl they also view you as an easy target. You ARE better than them! We have the same starting height/weight. I guarantee those idiots wouldn't say the same thing to me... They are COWARDS! Funny thing is I've been overweight since about 11, I've RARELY had anybody make fun of me for it. I was always bigger and stronger so they just didn't. They always made fun of girls. Again, easier target. In High School I played football and our QB was a tool. Always made fun of one cheerleader because she was a little heavier than he would like her to be (who the hell is he? God?) I played defensive line and one day I blindsided him WELL after the play was over and knocked the wind out of him LOL. The coach was mad and I had to run extra laps around the track. Afterwards I told him to leave her alone or next time I'd take his knees out As far as I know he never said anything else! Your friends should have stuck up for you! Young guys are typically DBags, stay away from chat roulette, and be proud of who you are and the life changing decision you have made! Good luck!
  8. Every surgeon is different. Seems like average is 10-15k. Mine will be 13k with Dr Curry in Cincinnati, Ohio. Keep in mind cost of aftercare as well. My surgeon include 2 years of visits/fills, others charge 100-300 per fill/ visit etc... Best suggestion is research surgeons in your area. Good luck!! I meant that some charge $100-$300, not all. Just reread what I wrote...
  9. I agree with babykins. There is a lot motivation in knowing that your surgeon may delay/cancel surgery if you don't lose some weight pre op. I'm great at dieting/losing weight.... SHORT term! It ALWAYS comes back because I fall back into old habits. This time I know I can diet until I have the band to HELP me with my new lifestyle. I'm on my own preop low calorie diet right now. First consult on March 1st. Hoping to have surgery in May. I'm self pay so it will hopefully move faster. Down 9 pounds in a week! Great job! Keep it up!!
  10. Thanks for the support everyone! Fabric I actually just bought some Protein powder the other day. I thought for sure it would take me a while to find one I liked, but I love the kind that I bought! (It's cheap too! Lol) Probably because 90% of what I have drank for the last two years has been Water, so anything with taste is delicious to me! Lol Thanks again!
  11. I am self-pay but my surgeon requires a psychological test for all patients. I have mine on March 1st. I'm newer on here but it seems like all surgeons have different requirements!
  12. I scheduled my initial consult a week ago with Dr Trace Curry in Cincinnati, Ohio. The lady that I talked to mentioned that the doc may want me to lose some weight before surgery since my bmi is above 50. So I decided to do my calorie counting diet and.... Have lost 9 pounds in the first week!! Now I'm at 360lb now with a bmi of 51.6. I'm hoping to schedule my surgery in mid May and be around 330-340 at the time of surgery!
  13. My list includes taking my son to an amusement park and not having to worry about fitting into rides. Fly without being uncomfortable the whole flight! Not be forced to buy an aisle seat at sporting events because I am spilling out of the seat! Run around for extended periods of time playing with my son. Be able to buy clothes anywhere I want!! To hopefully get rid of my sleep apnea, high blood pressure. Go hiking, rock climbing, play basketball with my friends without being embarrassed, to eat in public without being self conscious, be able to comfortable fit in the desks at my college, and many many more things! Lol
  14. CarolinaGirl it makes me sad that you said walk around the flea market without feeling your husband is ashamed of you.. I'm newer to the forums and you seem like the sweetest person on here! Any man would be lucky to have a wife as sweet as you! Regardless of your size I'm sure he is proud of you! ???ƒ
  15. Drew your before and after pictures are crazy! Doesn't even look like the same person. I have my consultation on March 1st. Looking forward to living the banded life! I am about the same build as you were in your before picture. I'm 5'11 365 currently. My ultimate goal is 225ish. Hope to get there one day! Thanks for sharing your story!
  16. This is our family dog Steinway. As you can see he takes a lot of abuse (not really) from my 5 year old son! Lol But, he loves my son more than he loves anyone! When I take my son to school and come home without him he gets sad and sits by the door waiting for him. Stein is a 13 year old Cocker Spaniel. He has arthritis, 30% vision in one eye, 10% in the other, constant ear infections, very little hearing.. He is getting old and starting to lose everything but we are cherishing his last years with us and hope to have many more great memories with him!! The picture with him in the car was my sons preschool bring your pet day, they were both VERY excited!!
  17. John you just told my life story! Lol
  18. No problem! Glad people are saving $, it's definitely not cheap!
  19. Just thought that I would share that GNC is offering a 25% off promo code for Valentines Day, with $1 shipping! The code is IHEARTGNC . If you go to GNC.com it is on the front page. Hope this saves someone some $$$
  20. Congrats on your consult! I get what you mean about missing out on your kids. I have a 5 year old son, half of the time I feel too tired to run around with him outside for extended periods of time. That's a tough call on the 6 pounds. $500 is a lot of money! I am self-pay as my insurance has an exclusion in the policy. I have sleep apnea and I know that sleep studies aren't cheap! I am in the opposite situation, I was told that I should try to lose some weight before surgery to get my bmi under 50. It's 51 now. Good luck on your journey! Hope the consult goes well!
  21. I have been debating on having the Lap-Band surgery off and on for a couple years and have recently decided that it is time!! I scheduled my consult for March 1st with Dr Trace Curry. I am very excited / nervous about this huge next step in my life!! So what questions did you wish you would have asked but forgot to at your initial consult?? I have a list of more common questions but I am curious if there is one that slipped your mind. Thanks in advance!!
  22. Oh yeah I forgot about the time that at a pool party I sat in one of the flimsy white chairs and immediately heard a cracking sound. So I jumped up and sat in a different chair. Then one of my skinny friends came and sat in it and fell to the ground immediately!!! LOL Everyone was cracking up.,, except him Lol I never told him about that, maybe I will the next time I see him!
