Heard this on the radio this morning
Giovy replied to Summerrain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow I'm diabetic and I never drink full strength anything, I always have diet or light! Very interesting. Maybe I should cut the sweetener from my morning coffee. Food for thought definitely -
Will be interested to know what tips you all have.

I don't think your supposed to feel full. From what my dr said full means you've eaten too much. You should just not feel hungry anymore. -

3rd day with my lap band
Giovy replied to Vpamphile's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It'll go away. It took me about a week and a half after surgery for the pain to go and for me to start feeling normal again. Don't worry there's light at the end of tunnel! -
I went through the same thing and second week of liquids stayed the same weight for 2 weeks. Dr explained that my body was in starvation mode because I wasn't eating enough calories but also advised that I was still healing and to try not to weigh myself for the first 6 weeks (impossible) but once I started mushy food and upped my calories slightly I started losing again. Hope this helps.

3rd day with my lap band

Your stomach is still swollen and healing, I started feeling hungry probably about the second week with my band. Dr said hunger is a good indication your stomach is healing -

I'm 4 weeks post op...I have never thrown up and two days ago went out to dinner with my cousin who I haven't seen in 15 years and who doesn't know I had the surgery and I ate slowly small bites with no problems whatsoever. I have also lost just over 30 pounds. I have had nothing but good results with my band. Remember everyone's different and just because some people have problems doesn't mean you will. If you follow your drs instruction it should be relatively smooth sailing. If your committed, I say do it!!! It'll change your life for the better. Good luck!!! -
I'm about 4 weeks post op and the bloating went down probably in my second week but the last couple of days I've been really bloated. Any thoughts as to why?

9 Days Post Op - Hungry and Can Eat Much More than 2-3ozs?
Giovy replied to Nate A Erickson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Nathan, I was banded on the 1/10/13, I've read all the comments and 100% agree! Your band is probably not filled yet and that's why you can eat copious amounts of food. I've found with the band I am NEVER full, I'm just not hungry anymore. For me eating till I was full made me happy and I thought that was normal. Since being banded I measure my food and have come to a realization I need only eat to live, not live to eat! Start measuring/weighing your food and as someone stated above chew chew chew, eat slowly and when your food is finished STOP. If your feel hungry soon after try drinking some water. Sometimes we can't differentiate between hunger and thirst. It's about will power at the beginning, see how strong you really are by deciding against fried foods and instead eat healthy food not only for weight loss but just your health in general. Good luck! -
Doctor filled band half full during surgery
Giovy posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find that I can eat most things really slowly (obviously) haven't tried bread yet but I'm still on semi mushy so ill wait. I eat about a cup of food and though I don't feel excessively full I can go 3-4 hours without feeling hungry again. So my question is does that mean I don't need my first fill? Is this what's it's supposed to be like in the " green zone"? -

My mum gave me some words of wisdom when I got discouraged about not losing any weight. She said it took you years to put it on and it's not going to come off overnight, also other people have lost it why shouldn't you and on the plus the slower you lose it the less lose skin you'll have. So even though I completely understand your frustration stuck with it, try to up your calories, exercise, drink water and it will happen! Try not to stress either my dr told me stress affects weight loss too. -

It's normal to feel hungry on the liquid diet. Your not getting enough calories in. The first couple of weeks are definitely hard but do-able. It's an exercise in will power for sure but try and stick to what the doctor says after all they know what's best. If your stomach was healed enough to eat solids even chewed then your dr would have said so. Stick with it really you'll feel so much stronger for it.

Hahaha like I said the joys of being a woman! Maybe take some liquid pain killers if the pains unbearable. Drink plenty of water if your bloated. You retain fluid so the more you drink the less your body will hoard ( or so I've read) -

5 days post-op... so hungry
Giovy replied to TattooBeauty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to see my surgeon 2 weeks post op and explained like you that I was always hungry! She said that its normal and means the stomach is healing and the swelling is going down. I know it's hard but just think you've only got another week and then mushy food ( go by what the dr says though) I used to make my shakes with a little extra water and have half for breakfast, half for lunch then Lemon water in between. Then I'd do the same with the soup but have half for afternoon tea and half for dinner. Maybe water it down so you might be able to get more then a couple of sips in. Hang in there coz its definitely normal and means your healing. Maybe ring your doctor and talk to them about it they might be able to suggest other options good luck ! -

I just got mine yesterday. Same thing...the week leading up to it was constantly hungry, bloated and feeling crappy. I just drank lemon water between meals to stop the hunger and stuck with it. It's definitely hard because so much is happening in your body. I feel your pain. The joys of being a woman -

I was exactly the same I was trying to get back into my normal routine but felt extremely tired. The tiredness subsided for me probably about a week and half post op. tiredness is normal, gang in there it'll pass -
I forgot to ask my surgeon about the types of excerise I can do. Was wondering if you do abdominal exercises will your port move or are all exercises fine once you've healed?
