    October Sleevers - Who else

I'm finally starting to get nervous! The time is flying by!
  2. I had a bad reaction to the depo shot. My first shot was fine but shortly after I got my second shot I broke out in hives all over my chest and scalp. Because it is a shot that stays in your system for three months there wasn't anything they could do. I tried different allergy meds and creams but nothing worked. Three months later, almost to the day, the hives went away. I currently have the Mirena IUD and love it. I've heard of people having reactions to the Mirena too though but at least you have the option to remove it if you do.

    Personal Trainer?

The hospital I'm having my surgery with offers 4 free sessions to their patients just to give you a jump on things and teach you how to work out at home or even how to use the different machines at the gym. Try calling your hospital and see if you can meet with one of their people for free or at a discount.

    Colorado, anyone?

I live in Colorado Springs and will be having my surgery in Denver with Dr. Schoen on October 3rd. I wasn't super happy about having to drive too but after meeting my new surgical team (had to change due to switching jobs and new insurance) I realized how much info I was lacking from my previous consultation. I'm not thankful I switched and feel a million times more comfortable with the facility I'm going to now. Do you have a date set yet or do you have to wait for the insurance?

    why do people hide it?

I have a sort of weird situation with who I've told and who I haven't. My husband knows... and most of my coworkers know. The rest of the family is in the dark. I have no doubt my family will be nothing but supportive but I feel like it's none of their business and I feel really weird (like pit in your stomach weird) about them knowing. I'll probably tell them at some point after the surgery. Hell, I'll have no choice as we live with my in-laws at the moment and it's not going to be something I can really hide after the fact. It's weird but I have a very emotional reaction to them knowing now and I honestly have no idea why I'm having this reaction. I have my psych eval on Wed and the psych has had bypass herself so I'm hoping she can shed some light on why I might be wanting to go this route.

    EATING.....

I haven't had my surgery yet but my surgeons rule is 15 mins before eating and 60 minutes after. I've been practicing and 60 minutes is really hard.
  10. I'm at 14 pounds down and still have 6 weeks till my surgery. My doctor only requires the 10 pounds and will reschedule if I gain any of it back.
  11. My old insurance required the 6 month physician supervised diet. About 2 months into it I switched jobs and didn't know what my new insurance was going to require. Now at 5 months in I found out my new insurance doesn't require one at all but I'm thankful I've gone through it and will finish out the 6 months even though I don't have to. My doctor has been a great support along the way so it works in my favor to keep seeing her.
  12. I am an outpatient schedulerfor a hospital in Colorado springs.

    Our first post...

Hi everyone. I'm scheduled for October 3rd in Colorado. I've been cutting my portions and trying to make wiser decisions. I've replaced one meal a day with a Protein Shake too which seems to help prepare me and give me the opportunity to try out all the shakes before hand. I'm exercising at the gym at work on my breaks so I get 30 mins a day 5 days a week and then any activity I can get in on the weekends. I know I need to up my activity but for now that is what I'm able to do. I'm excited and terrified at the same time. I was going to have to wait for December due to work time off restrictions but when I finally broke down and told my boss yesterday she lifted a time off block for me and allowed me to book my surgery in October. I set my date yesterday and as soon as I did that I got sick to my stomach and could have puked. I didn't think I'd get that nervous since I've been nothing but excited so far but having that date made it so real. I can't wait!!

    Any Colorado sleevers?

I'm finding my own in hopes of saving a trip to Denver to save gas and not have to take of work so I can save my time off. Apparently the psych community here in the springs is sparse. I could have lost a lot more but I wasn't motivated due to the fact that I was changing jobs and didn't know if my new insurance would even consider the surgery. I slipped into a very unmotivated place and just slacked off. Once I found out my new insurance would cover it I got serious. My 10 pound loss has been in the past 2 months. I wish I wouldn't have let myself slack in the beginning though.

    Any Colorado sleevers?

I haven't had caffeine or soda in about 5 months. I am 10 pounds down and my only thing left is my psych eval and I'm having a heck of a time finding someone to see me as they are all not accepting new patients or no longer practicing. I finally found one guy who will see me in September but if like to get it over with sooner if possible. Been working out about 30 mins a day 5-6 days a week and can definitely see some toning already and plan to up the exercise as I go. I was originally going to go to Penrose and started the process there but changed jobs and my new insurance required me to go to Denver.
  17. Colorado springs here but getting sleeved in Denver on October 3rd. Does anyone know if Penrose still has the support groups and if you can attend if you aren't a patient there?

    Guess I'm first..

Scheduled for October 3rd in Denver. I almost had to wait for December due to work but my boss made an exception for my time off. I'm like a giddy school girl now lol
