How'd it go, mommy?

6 days post op.. and, I swear on all that is holy.. the port pain is going to kill me. ugh!
that's around when mine had me so worried i went to my doc. i may have had a hypochondriac moment, but once my doc told me i was healing nicely it did seem to feel better. i'd strained the muscle the port is sewn into on a walk the day before. ice packs over the area helped me quite a bit. he also prescribed me Ketorolac, which his nurse described as ibuprofen on steroids. it's non-narcotic but you can only take it 5 days b/c it's hard on the liver. my percoset wasn't really doing anything. 2 days of the new med and i felt almost back to normal.
good luck!

I'm with you. i'm still in my post-op diet and there are still a lot of FF and SF products in my life but as I get back to real food I hope to keep a food approach that is local and as close to the whole ingredient as possible. i'm ready to give up refined sugar and flour - i've already had so little of it in the last month+ and my cravings are almost gone so it seems like a good time to let it go. the chems in FF and SF food make me nervous.
there's also been some studies around our food sources today vs a hundred (or more) years ago - and when we have a craving for something rich, and drink skim milk - we haven't satisfied the craving, and you might find yourself grazy b/c the craving hasn't been met. but if you had just a small amount of whole milk - you might be satisfied.

I saw denied the first time (by CIGNA) because they needed an explicitly needed a Letter of Medical Necessity from my PCP. Was able to see her 2 days later, submit the letter the next day and was approved within a week. Hang in there!

Do I need to worry about taking in enough Protein right at first? I don't know if I could get down any of those Protein Shakes that weren't really cold' date=' and I heard somewhere that your not supposed to drink super cold stuff :/[/quote']I didn't worry about it on day 1 or 2 post op but started getting it in by day 3. It will aid healing and help keep you full. I have been having my shakes cold without any problem.

MFP says I need to have 46 grams of Protein. 2 bottles of my Protein Drink is 50 grams. Is anyone else going over their recommended daily protein? My nut set my goal at 78g/day. It is probably lower as I lose weight. MFP has me closer to half that but I ignore it. Some days I'm just shy - others I go over. Protein is impt for: a) healing 2) feeling full and c) most impt to me: it forces our bodies to burn stored fat vs muscle. W/o it the body will burn muscle before fat - I guess it is just more easily combustible.

Just gave my dog a flea dip. I think it's safe to say my stomach is healing nicely

I'm not sure what the hell you are living on then and am wondering what I'm doing wrong. I spent 153 at GNC on Protein drinks/mixes' date=' cups and Vitamins. Then I just dropped over a 60 at Walmart. Well, some of that was "real" food for my daughter.....[/quote']
Stocking up on the Protein is always an expensive shot at my wallet. I'm growing tired of the powders and shakes. Really looking fwd I eating my protein.

From my own experience - it's good your manager knows. I was banded on the 11th and planned to return to work on the 15th and made it a few hours before being totally exhausted. I ended up taking most of last week off. My manager knew it would all be a little TBD and was very accommodating.

So' date=' is anyone else freaked out by some of the comments on the other pages? I didn't look at those before my band (7/18/13) and I'm glad. But dealing with some anxiety when I see ports flipping and bands slipping.... thoughts? I am terrified and feel like I'm second guessing everything happening.[/quote']It is nerve wracking for sure. For me it is different to hear my doc give me these cautions vs hearing from real people - just makes it more real. But for every complication I read about I see at least as many from ppl who have truly
Changed their lives with this tool. I agree with sprinkle - the band has a 5% complication rate if you otherwise follow all the rules - and if we all take good care of ourselves and each other we should be on our ways to healthier longer lives!

It's time to consummate this band!!!I just woke the dog up laughing out loud to this.

Hahahahaha - I am so there! I have been trying to talk my hubs into it the last 3 days and he says he won't until next week because he is anxious about my stomach/incisions. He has until Monday.

Amen to slip on shoes! I also had my sister bring m a sports bra the day I had surgery. I'm pretty large chested and one of my breasts was pressing on an incision. The nurse said so long as the bra band didn't press on the incision it was fine to wear and was a life saver. I've worn a sports bra or soft cup bra every day since surgery (I'm 10 days post op) - can do underwire yet.

When did you stall? In my own experience I will hit weeks at a time the scale doesn't move at all and the one day it's like I birthed a phantom baby and will be way down. My food and exercise will be consistent thru that time. I'm not sure why one day it just falls off.
