    JULY 2013 BAND BUDDIES

Being anxious wont change the outcome. Try and relax and if you can take a softener. Might not do much if you've already taken a laxative. It will come out when it's ready to.

    Items needed after surgery?

i have been LIVING with ice packs on my incisions - helps a ton. also - if you are large chested, having a sports bra has been a life saver for me - you have to make sure the band doesn't press on any incisions, but without it one of my breasts was pressing on an incision and causing discomfort. i'm also recommending stool softener. my first BM post op was a nightmare.

    JULY 2013 BAND BUDDIES

Are folks leaving the steri-strips on till a doc removes them or removing yourselves? I had band aids over the steri strips that a nurse removed before I was discharged from the hospital. I have been trying to keep the strips from getting too wet in the shower but they are starting to itch a little bit and lift at the edges. I'm trying not to peel them off.

Are you working with a nutritionist? Or did your surgeon give you guidance on a post op diet? I agree with sprinkle - I'd call whomever you are working with to confirm what you can have at what stage. Hang in there! Your body is healing an even tho we are hungry it will be worth it in the end!

I strongly recommend a stool softener. The pain meds can cause you to get backed up and if you haven't gone since surgery there is prob stuff in your system from before the surgery. It get compacted the longer it is in there. Not recommending a laxative to cause you to go - just one to make it softer/easier to pass once you do.

    JULY 2013 BAND BUDDIES

Banded 7/11 - pain is mild to moderate at this point. Trying to ween off pain meds. Need to clear my head for work. Absolutely starting stool softeners tomorrow after a miserable experience today.
  11. Welcome! My first piece of advice is to start a pre pre op diet. It helped me a ton. I started reducing calories and making sure to hit my protein goal daily and it made the transition to liquids a lot easier and also jump started my loss. I dropped 5lbs in the 3 weeks before my pre op diet, and then 12 on the pre op diet. I know some folks have a farewell food tour but it helped me feel more in control of my relationship to food to not go crazy and start the mindset switch I'm gonna need for the rest of my life. Good luck!
  12. I feel u. I am someone when it comes to food if u give an inch I will take a mile. So I have been going about this as by the book as possible so that I don't fall into old habits of "we'll that worked, I wonder if this other thing will go down fine too". Just what I need to do for me.
  13. I'm not on soups yet. Still just protein shakes and broth. As of thurs I can intro soups.
  14. I'm hungry right now too. Didn't feel awesome today - probably pushed myself a little too hard. I won't hit my protein goal today

    The Pre-Op Waiting Game

I had the same thing w my initial denial - the letter. Once we sent that I was approved in days. Yes I think you can def as your practitioner to call and give a nudge.

    my Secret place.....

This is the only place besides my doc file that shows my weight. It feels safe here. My husband and fam know I found a site I love, and I've told my surgeon about it so he can pass the word to other patients - but I don't think anyone who knows I'm on here has gone looking for me. I'm sure my hubs is able to otherwise occupy his time online with porn and videos of kittens sneezing and falling off of things.

    The Pre-Op Waiting Game

I also have Cigna. The first response (denied) took abt 2 weeks. But it was easy to appeal - they just needed one other piece of documentation we already had. Once your review is started with them there should be a specific person reviewing your case - that is how it was with mine. So when I was denied my surgeon's nurse was able to call this person directly and then the appeal/approval happened in less then a week. Then it took 5 weeks until my surgery date. Hang in there!
  18. Good luck girl! Congrats on loss so far. Let us know how u r doing!
  19. Day 5 post op and attempted to work a half day f home office. 90 min at desk did me in. I'm pooped.
  20. I'd walk - even slowly - to see if that helps, and call your doctor.
