    JULY 2013 BAND BUDDIES

You can find it at most drug stores or any type of health food store. It's a capsule. I've had no problem swallowing them.

It is a private group that doesn't even show up in searches. Send a msg on here to crayolaphoenix with your email addy and she will send an invite.
  3. I'm a few days post op. I've had some incision soreness but today there is a spot on my stomach that is most painful - and it's not an incision. It does feel kinda hard under the surface tho. Is this my port? I will try and point to it in this picture.... The sensation is similar to a pulled muscle.

    JULY 2013 BAND BUDDIES

Maggie - I have been experiencing port pain my doc thinks is from over exerting myself walking. I'm going to take more short walks and forgo the longer ones for now. 3 weeks till I can lift weights an get in a pool. By that point I should be able to walk further too. I have the realize band but was expecting it. It's all my doc uses.
  6. There is fully a 20lbs difference btwn my scale at home (high) and the surgeon's office (low). My doctor's office and nutritionist are in the middle but closer to my scale. I use my scale at home to track loss - but I suspect it shows me weighing more than I actually do - and I think my surgeon's shows less than I actually weigh. Do any of you have this problem? Which weight should I use? My scale at home is a Taylor digital - a few years old. Is there a secret to zeroing it out and getting it accurate?

How do you handle different scales?

Just got weighed at surgeon's office. 272. At home I am 292. Both show abt 23lbs loss but the variance is crazy! I told them again and they said theirs has been adjusted but when they heard my nutritionist scale is also 15lbs over theirs and it is in the same health practice they were surprised and they will check theirs again. I will just stay consistent with my home scale and that way it I'm almost guaranteed good news when I'm on any other scale

I'm having some itching on a couple of them. Unfortunately I'm feeling more pain by my port site than less. I have a call in to my surgeon's office to see what's up.

I'm not on yogurt yet but I think I can in a week or two. I love chicken broth - even before all of this. I particularly love manishevitz brand. I am drinking my protein drinks basically all day. I used to gulp and have been careful to sip now but it take forever.
  11. What phase of post op diet are you on? If you are introducing soft foods maybe its smaller, slower bites with more chewing? I'd call your doc to be safe tho and not wait till the 22nd. Vomiting is not a good thing.

    Ladies only question

Agree with others - see your doctor. Hope it gets figured out quickly and with little pain!!

Also, I saw you mention being on a low income. I've been there. If you have insurance see if they will cover a nutritionist. If not - try calling some and see if they offer a sliding scale. I once worked with a woman who was and that helped make it affordable for me.

I'd recommend meeting with a nutritionist for som support and meal planning while you jump start your journey. I'm also a fan of myfitnesspal to track everything you consume (and also calories burned) - without tracking the calories can really add up. This can also be useful to make sure you are getting all the right nutrients (protein, vitamins, etc). Good luck!

    JULY 2013 BAND BUDDIES

I will def report back! First hour or two after taking it was just rumbles. Starting to pass gas now. Unsure if it is related. Did you have a pre surgery diet? I think that is what is helping me now - knowing I've already made it almost 3 weeks on liquids. You can do this! It's tough but will be so worth it!
