  1. Glad u are doing well on the whole, winkie! I also requested a fan. I could t sleep at all. Partly b/c it is so bright in my room from the hallway lights. I would add an eye mask to the list and also a sports bra if you are large chested. One of my breasts was pressing on an I incision and my sis brought over a pull over racerback sports bra that has helped a ton. I'm actually surprised I haven't seen this come up before since I'm guessing I am not the first with this issue. I have peed lots and walked lots and very little gas pain (so far). Mainly incision pain and headache. Still feel great about this decision!
  2. Anyone just banded having trouble sleeping? It's not fully discomfort - I'm just not sleepy. The nurse here at the hospital keeps telling me the morphine will make me sleepy but that just isn't happening

    Surgery June 11th!!

Hope everyone banded yesterday is feeling empowered for this brave thing we did, and that the healing is already happening! Feel better every day!!
  4. Yay! Great job - way to be!!

    Fluttering!?

Have you noticed of it happens with any patern? After you eat or drink a certain thing? Since you can't see your surgeon with ease, I'd recommend noting anything you can about the sensation for when you talk to him/her. Also is there a PCP closer by you who can help? Good luck!

Boob pressing on incision - anyone else have this?

My sis brought a sports bra and it is helping a ton! Just have to keep the band from touching the incision but that hasn't been a problem. Highly recommend bringing one with you!
  7. ... I don't have my period today (band day). I cannot imagine changing a tampon right now!

    Cravings during PMS?

Hey ladies, I'm expecting my period next week - I will be smack in the middle of my pre op diet. I am nervous about what is generally a major chocolate and salty Snacks craving. Any words of wisdom? Also, does this continue post-banding? I am guessing it might - wisdom there appreciated as well! Thanks!!
  9. I have been experiencing these today... Hiccurp. Or burcup.
  10. Just asked and my hospital doesn't have them. Th nurse did say it would be ok for my sister to bring me a sports bra to wear... One of my breasts is pressing on an incision and so long as the bra is pulled up high enough to avoid the incision I can try it out.

    2 weeks post op....

That is an ambitious goal! I was just banded today so I can't speak from experience yet, but from what I've read the avg band loss is 1-2lbs/wk if you follow the band guidelines. I've also read that it isn't uncommon o plateau or gain a little when you switch back to solids/before you are filled. Good luck!
  12. Good tip - I will ask a about it. I think you we're also the one who recommended I bring Chapstick an that was sooooo needed today! Thank you

    Can't burp!

Same here - walking allowed me to burp. I've been counting them and announcing them to my nurses

    Im banded as of 7/11

I was also banded this morning and for hours try didn't want me sipping Water or having ice and that was the worst part, thank goodness. I am staying overnight - standard practice for my surgical group I guess - but was told all went very well and he was done in less than an hour. I am appreciating the morphine for sure - and have had some sips of water, broth, and SF Jello. Ice pack on the belly. Incision pain has been more acute than gas pain. Much love to everyone on this site - the support has been so amazing. I really felt comfortable and confident as I walked to the hospital this morning and I know a lot of that was from the ppl on LBT! High fives to my July bandsters and 7/11 band twins!!
  15. You look great! Terrific job workin at it this year - it def shows.

    Tuna melt cups

    Ditto!
  17. Was withheld water for a long time and was insanely parched. Then given ice chips. Now allowed to sip water, broth and SF jello. All feels good - just a tiny amount - and then walking afterwards when I feel some gas build. I celebrate every burp. Surprised how sore my throat is from the breathing tube but they tell me that should only last a day or so.
  18. I'm thru and resting now. staying overnight. Into surgery around 7:45am and I'm told it took about 50 minutes and the doc pronounced my liver "lovely". Stomach is sore and a headache. No bad gas pains (yet). Walking feels good. Ice pack on the tummy feels good. Hubs is here with me now, parents and sister earlier. Sis has also elected to sleep over on my room. Discharge after upper GI tomorrow Morning.

  22. i'm sure this falls into the bucket of "varies by person/their doc&nutri team" but my nutri to just be on the lookout for no more than 12-14g of sugar in one meal. so if it was 12g in 1/2 a cup and that was the full meal i'd be ok. that said, i don't like tomato soup
