doubts?
Just give it time honey. When you are further out, and finding success and all the good stuff that comes with it, it will be much easier. And you will come to realize that it's OK for food to taste and smell good. In fact, it will be better because you will enjoy it more. I know that I do. Rather than focus on quantity, I focus on enjoying the little I eat. Most of the time, that's plenty good with me and with the band, I don't feel hungry after eating my portion. I wish I could give you a glimpse of your life a year from now. It will be wonderful.

The most positive post on this site
I am so thankful for the wonderful friends I've made on this site, both in the real and virtual world. Their support has been a lifesaver for me and if I can help even one person, I know I've paid it forward. A special shoutout to Carolinagirl and Missy (who is no longer posting). These two ladies still have no idea how important they were to me when I first went on this site...a woman in such physical pain that I could barely walk, a woman so scared about what this surgery would do to my destructive but comfortable relationship with food that I couldn't even imagine the good parts. And oh how good it's become. I walk without a cane. The pain is now minimal. The world has opened back up to me again. I have a man in my life again... I am happier than I've been in such a long time and it's all due to shedding this awful horrible weight I've been carrying around for such a long time. And thanks most of all to Alex for making this site available. He's a real hero in my eyes and I am humbled to call him friend.

To be desired again
FYI, I had a conversation with Alex and he's going to set up an area on this site for dating related conversations and questions. He can see just by how this thread is trending that there are plenty of folks who are interested in discussing this aspect of our lives. Thanks Alex!

doubts?
Lots of people have gone through 'buyer's remorse' so don't worry about feeling that way. Except for a few outlyers, most poelpe will find the success they are looking for as long as they follow the rules and stay strong when chalenges arise. Just know that I didn't expect this to work for me either and I've lost almost 150 lbs. and gotten my life back so I'm sure that it will work for you as well. Good luck Keeper.

So sorry to hear of your troubles. Hoping that you are well soon and working with your surgeon to find another solution or having the band replaced. Good luck to you and keep us posted.

Well, all I can do is quote from the song... 'I am woman, hear me roar'. Those of you of a certain age, will recognize those lyrics...lol.

Medicine got stuck......lesson learned!
Just make sure you can split the medication. Not all meds can be split. It will tell you in the information insert.

Banders #6
I'm sitting here in my living room wearing jeans and a sweater. On top of the sweater is my sweatshirt. Last night I wore a flannel nightgown and slept under two quilts. As Debbie said, I've got no body fat anymore and am cold all the time. Even now, my hands are freezing and I've had my socks on since yesterday. So glad that I am heading to South Florida on Saturday for Thanksgiving. At least I'll be warm down there....

Girl...this just cracked me up. OK, here's your weather lesson for today. Lake effect snow happens when cold air goes over large bodies of Water such as the Great Lakes where this is happening now. Since the water is warmer than the air, the moisture is carried by the cold air over the ground and dumps said moisture as snow. So while Buffalo and surrounding areas are hit with huge snowfalls, it's mainly in certain areas rather than over a larger area. I remember many years ago, working with a vendor in Ireland and having to explain that Buffalo NY was very very different than New York City where I was. They thought the snow was falling in the city and were worried that we were getting buried. I clarified that NY is a big state and Buffalo was hundreds of miles away...lol.

To be desired again
Wow...I hit a nerve I see. NewLife...you have to go onto dating sites...it's the only way to meet alot of men these days. Just make sure they understand you are not looking for a hookup and you will not tolerate any disrespect. If you put that out there right away, they usually behave. Give it a shot...you never know...

To be desired again
I post about all kinds of things on this forum knowing that if I'm feeling them, or experiencing them, so are others. So..I don't feel that I can leave out the fact that I've begun dating again. Scary stuff...and especially as I'm right in the middle of body image issues, and this brings up rejection issues, and control issues for me. I feel like I'm walking in a field of landmines. Talk about being vulnerable...sheesh. So last night, the fella I've been dating for a couple of months is coming to my apartment. My train is late and I get home and text him to find out if he's on his way. Turns out he's already waiting for me and comes up a couple of minutes later. I'm still in my work clothes..which happens to be a very handsome dress in a rust/coral color and he stares at me and says that I look fantastic in that dress and the only thing that would look better is if I was out of that dress..lol. It's been such a long time since anyone has shown that kind of attention to me. I'm not a kid so no worries about being swept off my feet by a few choice words but it none the less, warmed my heart to know that someone wanted me again. Desired me again. I must be somewhat attractive for an older and somewhat wrinkly old broad. I feel like I'm on a high today in the office. This was not on my radar. My WLS was to allow me to walk without pain and to get my mobility back. That was the plan. This romance stuff has been a really nice addition to the mix. Yes, I know putting myself out there is risky but right now I'm enjoying it and I hope to keep on enjoying it. If it's vanity, well so be it. I think I deserve a little vanity after all I've been through. I'm so happy to know that I don't have any surgeries coming up in 2015. That sentence alone tells you some of what I've been through. So friends...back to my conference call. Break's over. Have a great rest of the day everyone!

Pre op diet!
I had many many food funerals. So many in fact that I made myself sick and couldn't eat anything the actual day before my pre-op diet. Here's the great thing though. I'm almost two years post-op and am able to eat all of it again. However...I choose to do so sparingly. I had Chinese food last night. First time I ordered it in since before my surgery. Nothing special...wonton Soup and pepper steak. But because it's been so long, I enjoyed it immensely...and there is so much left over, I can easily portion out and freeze a half dozen more meals out of it and eat it for weeks to come. So because I eat certain foods occasionally and more important...slowly now...I enjoy it so much more than when I used to shovel it in my face without really tasting it.

HA! You can have the fat clothes back!?
The best revenge is that you are losing weight and getting healthier. Believe me....if she sees you still or runs into you around town, she's aware....

Got Your Guard Up for Holiday Season?
I was basically going to write what JustWatchMe wrote. I've been at this nearly two years and I love to shop because clothes look good on me again, and I can walk with very little pain. I don't fear having to walk anymore. That's vital when you live in NYC which is a walking town. Holidays?? Puhleeze....I'm looking forward to them same as I always did but even moreso now because I'm healthier and happier than I've been in terms of my weight than I've been for years. If that means walking away from more than a spoonful or two of a favorite food, so be it. As my signature says, 'Nothing tastes as good as normal feels'.

We want to see lots of pics Jim.... You and Kelli with Mickey, Goofy, Snow White, Donald Duck...etc. Congratulations my friend. Isn't living a normal life a wonderful thing? Your bucket list trip is Disney World and mine is the Far East. Unfortunately my dad is having some health issues and heart surgery has been scheduled for next month so the China trip over Christmas has had to be postponed but it might actually work out better as my sister is now considering going with me and my brother as long as we wait till the spring. I promise you all a picture of me at The Great Wall or at the Forbidden City. Just thinking about it makes me want to cry because only two years ago, I thought my travel days were a thing of the past...and at only 54 years old too. Now the whole world has opened back up for me and I am grateful beyond words can truly express.

Banders #6
A couple of the windows at Lord & Taylor set up for Christmas. What a treat! Oh, and then I went into the store to see if there were any sales and found two dresses I got for work...one was a Ralph Lauren and the other was an Elie Tahari. Well made clothes really do feel and fit so much better than the cheaper stuff. Oh, and one of the Ralph Lauren dresses I tried on made me look slutty according to my sister. I nearly bought it. I haven't looked slutty in the longest time.... Enjoy the pics my friends.

After 2 years! Finally found my word.
As long as folks understand that it's a lifestyle change that will have it's ups and downs, you can call it a journey, an adventure, or a process. I think they're pretty interchangeable....

What was your most recent NSV? (non-scale victory)
Was at my son and DIL last night for dinner and to see the nursery furniture they got for my newest grandchild due in April. The crib has the changing table attached and it's a big piece of furniture. The space between the crib and the dresser is a bit narrow so I suggested they might want to rearrange some things and my son said there was no reason to since we were all pretty skinny and wouldn't have any problems maneuvering. I looked at that space and said a silent prayer of thanks because I know that two years ago, I might not have been able to squeeze past so easily. Oh...and a dinner NSV as well. I knew which plate was mine when I saw how much food was on it. My DIL is getting used to mom sized portions and knows how much I eat Loving the new normal for sure.
