3 weeks post op...is a fill too soon???

I got my first fill at three weeks. I'm glad I did. Made it to the green zone on the first try.
  2. It sounds like that may be some gas trapped in your chest. It will go away, but still just let your dr. know. I am 5 weeks post op and I had that for about 10 days post op. I used gas x strips and phazyme tablets, which are tiny. This helped a ton. Make sure you are drinking enough water also. Sips not gulps. I hope this helps. I know it sucks, but NO it wont last forever. You'll be happy you did this. My stomach IS very noisy if I haven't eaten past 5 hours though. Its pretty funny, at least my kids think so. Hope you feel better.

    The signal from my fill

Well since I wrote this, I have lost another 3 pounds. To be honest the scale has been stuck for 2 weeks, ever since I started real food. But as soon as I got that fill the scale has been moving down everyday. I am thrilled. I also feel as though I am in the green zone for now. Had my first stuck episode today. It was gross. Just didn't chew well enough. Thanks for your thoughts.

    The signal from my fill

I had my first fill yesterday 1.5cc. Pretty agressive and I'm happy with that. The scale had not moved in a couple of weeks, however, my clothing size went down, so that is awesome. But, today, the scale moved. I'm so happy. Is this because the nerve that signals my brain that I have eaten and am full is being suppressed significantly more and my body is willing to let the weight go? I hope this makes sense. Thanks for you expert opinions.

    Feeling food pass through

I ate a hard piece of bread yesterday for the first time. Lets just say, I thought I saw the light, it hurt a ton, I could feel it going through my band. I was prayin to not throw up. Took about 10 minutes and it kind of sucked. No more bread.

    HELP! PLEASE & THANK YOU!

My surgeon wants me to feel somewhat in control of my band. Call the surgeon. Make it happen. Stand up and get what you need from this band. Otherwise its just another diet. Don't wait. The function of fills is not so much restriction as I am learning over and over, but satiaty on 1 c of food. If you are not there without feeling frustrated then you need a fill.

    Home vs Gym Workout

By far my most favorite work out is with my Kinect and dance games, I have them all. I can sweat for 2 hours when I get so frustrated with the treadmill after 15 minutes. I just got the Nike trainer and going to play that today.

    WTH?!?!

As soon as you start eating, the weight will drop back down. No worries. Mine did the same thing.
  15. I have been pretty open about what I have done. But the people I work with are super supportive. But, people are also starting to notice my weight loss and its only about 20 pounds. I feel pressure to loose even faster. But, the band is going to do its thing slow or fast and I just gotta let the pressure go. I would only tell people if you know they would support you, otherwise, you have the right to keep your weight loss private. Honestly, some people feel like this was the easy way out, but for me it hasnt been. I've had to face alot of demons on this journey and I'm only 3 weeks post op. Good luck. Congratulations on your weight loss.

    How Much Time Off Work?

One week for me and my job is physically draining. It was perfect. I think i would have been fine after 3 or 4 days to do a desk job.

    Lap Band Popularity

Has the band worked for you? I mean if it has worked and you know how to eat with it, then it was worth every single penny. The reason its popularity seems to be dwindling is that people are getting the sleeve. My surgeon, though he does the sleeve, feels like it is not a great long term procedure for everyone. The band really is a tool to be used or not. If you don't use it and have lost nothing, then maybe think twice about the money you spent, however if you have learned to work with it, then like I said, its worth every penny. I also wanted to mention that I'm so proud of you for maintaining your weight and that is what a supportive nurse should have said. You deserve your fills, find someone else.
  20. I am going on from a soft food diet to introducing foods. I am staying within the dietary guidelines per my NUT, however, the last couple of days I am seeing gains. Small, all be it, but gains. Once I see a pound gone, I just want it gone. I don't want to see it creeping back up in oz. I need this to work. I am giving up alot here and I just need to feel like all this work and sacrafice is going to payoff and its not just a diet I tried and failed. Thanks. Susan

    Shoulder Pain When Hungry

I get that also during my meal. Can't figure out if it is a stop signal or not. But I typically stop eating when it starts. 2 weeks post op.

I am feeling so much support...

I am just so happy to feel so supported in this journey. My surgery is on Feb. 18. Today is my birthday and instead of getting yummies like cake and cupcakes from my lovely teacher family, I have gotten flowers and fruit, and even a yummy protien smoothy from my besty. I am a teacher for students with autism. I am constantly moving and chasing kiddos. I have six adorable runners in my class. It takes a toll on my body, because of the weight. I am looking forward to being able to chase them down with ease. Not to mention actually run in the Autism Speaks 5K next fall. So I know I'm luckty to have such support. I know people don't always feel that way and if you are one of those folks, please just know that I support you. Someone you don't know, but who actually cares that you are doing this for yourself. This journey is so not going to be as easy as I had thought, but well worth it. Have an awesome day!! Susan

Not doing well on pre-op :(

I'm on week 2 of my pre-op and to be honest, I chew a ton of sugar free gum. chew, chew, chew. It has helped sooooo, much. One day last week I didn't chew gum and I was sooo hungry. Cinnamon is my favorite and makes everything easier. This will all be worth it.
