    Is green for everyone?

with the band you are not going to feel that full sensation in your stomach like before. and you shouldn't eat until you feel full. eat only what your doctor recommends probably something like 70 to 80 grams protein a day, vegies, etc.. chew food until mushy and eat for no longer than 20 to 30 minutes. don't eat more than what is recommended even if you feel like you can eat more, you shouldn't. if you are not feeling satisfied for up to 4 hours then it's probably time for a fill.

you may be a bit swollen from the fill. my doctor has me on liquids 2 days then mushies for a day after my fills.

Negative posts that plant the seed!!

I will call myself fortunate to have a wonderful surgeon who took me on as a patient after having had my band placed in Mexico. I think he even gives me special consideration because of the 4cc band history. He treats me like one of his own and for that I am truly grateful.

This is weird.. I can eat

i'm surprised missy hasn't responded so i will try to state what she has said in the past. the band is not intended to physically stop you from eating but rather help to keep you satisfied for up to 4 hours between meals. the band goes around our stomach and not our head. the band won't control what goes in your mouth. (ok how i do?) anyway... since your surgeon didn't provide you with post op care, here is one that is pretty typical. i just googled it. hope this helps. http://www.metrohealth.org/documents/patient%20services/weight%20loss/Diet_Instructions_Lap_Band.pdf
  8. you look fantastic! congratulations on your continued success!

    Self pay for "follow ups"

you might want to ask your doctors office to contact your insurance company to see if fills are covered. when i talked to my insurance company they told me it was not covered but the bariatric surgeon i use for fills was some how able to get them to cover it. it could just be the treatment code they use that makes all the difference. it's worth a shot.

    Mistake?

The good news is that what your feeling right now is temporary. The feelings you are having are very common among many. There was a reason you chose to have WLS and I suspect you were not happy with your weight and the affects it was having on your health and well being. You are still in healing process and it can be miserable I know. Are there any local WLS support groups in your area? You would be surprised how helpful it is being with people who are experiencing your exact same feelings. Maybe see a therapist. Take one day at a time. Wipe the tears from your eyes, get some medication for the reflux, and embrace what the future holds for you. Giving up is not the answer - you have so much to gain and a lot to lose if you give up. There are several facebook groups (just do a search on lap band) you could consider joining for emotional support. This board, although very informative, tends to have veteran lap banders who sometimes lack compassion which is what you are needing right now. I hope you are able to pick yourself up and continue on with the journey you started.

    seeking help!

if you think you need to see a therapist you will want to find one that specializes in eating disorders. I hope you are able to get this under control! Reaching out for help is a good sign you will work through this and be successful.

chest pain after eating? is that a stuck episode?

i think chewing more would help you a lot. it that works for you then you could consider adding a small tweak something like even .5cc or 1cc at most and see how you do with that. sometimes it's best to ease into the fills because a very small amount can make a huge difference.
  13. congratulations on your graduation to solids. keep up the great work!

    Surgery

honestly when you look at the number of views vs. the number of people who comment there is a huge difference. sometimes people just don't know what to say or are looking for answers to a problem they are experiencing. jealous about your cruise and think you did amazing only gaining 1 lb. you should be proud because i know the food they serve on those cruises are yummmmmmy!

    Encouragement needed

i lose 8 to 10 pounds a month so you are there right along with me. it's going in the right direction and will continue to do so. make sure you are getting in the protein and water and you should be fine. good luck!

    Problem-Need Advice ASAP

Since all this started in just the last 2 weeks it could very well mean there is a great deal of inflammation. With IV fluids and nutrition the swelling should go down in 2 to 3 days so she can get some relief. I think I would go to ER and start there instead of waiting around for doctors to call back while she is suffering. Let us know what happens.

    Banded in mexico

Missy I appreciate your opinion in most cases but I really don't think you are correct on this one. The older model is still available from Allergan and can be purchased from them by any U.S. surgeon that cares to buy them. Because most choose not to doesn't mean they can't.

pampi i really suspect you have the 4cc adjustable band and not the non-adjustable. it wouldn't hurt to ask your doctor the manufacturer and type of band you have. mine provided me with a card and also post-operative report that tells me what i have along with the serial number. i contacted allergan and they provided me with the manufacture date for the lot and it was from 2012 (i had my surgery in jan. 2013). i know there is a greater risk of complication with the 4cc for slippage and erosion but i decided to accept the risk. i have my post-operative care with a lap band/ sleeve surgeon here in the states and he has nothing but good things to say about the surgeon i went to in Mexico, others not so much. so i hope and pray everyday that i don't suffer any major complications. this group is a wealth of information and as you can see some are very passionate so don't let the negatives keep you from asking for help. good luck with your weight loss!

    Banded in mexico

I may have posted this before but if not here it is again. The 4cc lap band is still an FDA approved product and is still manufactured by Allergan (not old and discounted to Mexico). Most U.S doctors opt to use the newer bands because they have fewer complications. The FDA has recalled several batches of lap bands (not all 4cc) for various reasons but they have not required or mandated the discontinued use of the original 4cc. just saying... http://www.fda.gov/downloads/advisorycommittees/committeesmeetingmaterials/medicaldevices/medicaldevicesadvisorycommittee/gastroenterology-urologydevicespanel/ucm235262.pdf

    New life!!!!

hi ashleylaray08. congratulations on your new life and the kick start of your weight loss! i hope you don't feel like i am interfering but couldn't help myself. generally the post op diet is 1 to 2 weeks of liquids, another couple weeks of pureed foods, then a couple of weeks of mushies. every surgeon is a little different but it just seems that since you are only a week post-op that sweet potato fries may not be the best choice. please check your post op instructions before you eat them tonight. the first few weeks are for healing. good luck!
