Physician, heal thyself! You have a better bedside manner than most. I'll bet that in 2 months, it will be healed, but I hope it doesn't take that long.

Mary, My doctor recommended calcium supplements also. He recommended about 1500 mg daily. I would be careful taking 3500 mg daily. Whenever calcium is taken, it should be balanced with half as much magnesium. Many of the suplements are balanced, but not all of them. If you take one without the other, it could throw your mineral salts out of whack, causing muscle spasms, blood pressure problems etc. Make sure you're balanced.

Darcy, so glad to hear all is better. Lisa, you are having terrible luck with doctors, ( like you couldn't tell!) That doctor sounds totally apathetic to your problem, that's horrible. Is the wound continuing to decrease in size? Did they give you any instruction or advice for wound care? I feel so bad for you. Years ago, I had a pilonidal cyst removed from the base of my spine. It was chronicly infected. They had to keep packing it for several weeks to let it heal from the inside out. Talk about a pain in the ass! Anyhow, I hated having to go every day and bend over, have the area shaved, have gause packed etc. It was so degrading even though they were very nice. I begged for them to let it heal over, but the doctor said it was the only way to have the wound heal properly. Your port wound is probably similar to this, deep wounds need to heal from the inside, not fun. I hope you continue to heal without further complications, my friend.

Great link, Leatha. That pretty much tells the story!

Hey Ginny, I don't think you're any different than any of us. If I had a birthday cookie looking at me, I would be pigging out on it too! If I have anything junky around the house, I manage to eat it. Junk always seems to go down smoothly for some stupid reason. I have only had one fill, and I am well restricted when I sit down to a good meal. I don't think going full blast on the restriction is a good idea either. Try to avoid temptation, alcoholics shouldn't hang in the bar, and we shouldn't have junk food on hand. I am resolving to not buying it, starting today. Good luck in the battle, we all fight the battle.

Debra, thank you for sharing with us. You look awesome. Congratulations on your dramatic weight loss, and best wishes for your continued sucess.

My fill really did help me. It just won't allow you to eat past a certain point. You really start living the banded life after a fill, take it slow. Eat slow, chew slow and stop eating at the first sign of fullness. Best of luck to you.

I'm above average, but most of the transgressions were in my wild and crazy youth. I'm just a happily married maw-maw now! Just a little crazy now and then!

Leatha, sorry to hear that you're having pain. Is it in the area of your port? My port will hurt if I have stood a long time or walk excessively. It has slowly gotten better as time passes, but it has gotten pretty uncomfortable in the past. I hope your problem is nothing major, glad to hear you are seeking medical attention. Keep us posted.

Your edited letter sounds better. Doesn't it feel good to stand up and be counted? In doing so, you've helped others. You're a good person, Darcy girl!

Darcy, I am very glad to hear that you are doing better. You are a pretty smart cookie to figure it out yourself. But then you were left to your own devices. I whole heartedly agree with Lisa, that the letter is too nice. I know you are gracious, but I think their office has proven that graciousness gets you nothing. I would be pointed and direct in my complaint, and let them know that you were upset and put off. But, that's me! I'm glad that you are writing the letter, the lack of care needs addressing. Again, I am so happy that you are feeling better. Rock on!

Wow, thanks for that info, Bright. I always have gum in my mouth. (some kind of oral fixation!) Of course it's sugarfree, as I work in the Dental profession. I will have to do a trial to see if I can tell the difference without it. It will be hard for me, it keeps my mouth busy and I don't think I eat as much when I chew gum. Interesting theory!

Rica, have you ever tried a topical cream, such as aspercreme? My youngest daughter broke her femur, and she had alot of swelling after the cast was removed. At the time, she was too young for anti-inflamitories. Aspercreme really helped her during rehab. There are also some stronger sports rubs, with 25%salysilic acid that penetrate locally. They work well if your skin can tolerate the creams. Hope you get to feeling better.

What a nice family, Penni. I love pictures, too. Keep em coming!

Thanks for the links, I'm tanking up on cold water!

My quotes don't come out like that. Tell all, how do you get the lines, and the pretty little italics introducing the quote?

All right Queenie, I am waiting to buy regular clothes too! You are probably being prepped for surgery now. Let us know how it went when you feel up to posting. :tired :cross-eye -
Hi Joyce, haven't heard from you in a while. I was on a plateau too, just starting to drop a couple. Cruise and meet does sound like a great reward. We could save all the money from the savings on food!

I love the visual description. And your avatar is so adorable, his little eyes look like a man!

I was so careful to adhere to the post-op diet. I went to MX and I certainly didn't want to hurt the band. That was a big incentive not to eat when I did get hungry. I have heard that some people are hungry right away. My surgeon didn't require a pre op fast, so I got a break there. Drink water, water, water, it cuts your appetite during the liquid/ mushy stage. -
Anne, how arw you doing with the leak? Is the fill holding for you? You have started to lose, hope it's working.

I didn't! I had to make myself drink for days after the surgery. It was like magic! That's when the lbs. melted away. -
